Reading there that German MY order holders that selected MSM or MCR were offered free upgrades to the new silver or cherry red. Lucky sods!

No way! My best mate changed from MSM to Quicksilver and paid substantially more money. For a Model Y Performance. In the Netherlands though, not in Germany.

Offer valid in the Netherlands too, but not if you had originally picked blue (like he did), my last post was incorrectly saying he ordered MSM (his first Tesla was MSM)

That's the ICE one. Ford sold nearly a million of them a few years ago, but that's down to just half a million now. And dropping like a brick every year. Nobody wants ICE anymore and Ford has no way at all to make more than a few hundred thousand BEV versions per year, even a few years from now. They're making just 15000 of them this year. Pathetic effort.

Sorry man, but the F150 won't be the global best selling vehicle. Not for many years anyway even if everybody all of a sudden wanted one. Not in ICE and not in BEV.

Think I read already that the Model Y can be fitted with the two hitch post order if ordering with the car and other option will send it over the price grant ?

Want to confirm for a friend that also has one on order.

OK, test drove the Model Y yesterday, as well as the Polestar 2.

I'm very far from a Tesla fanboy, so I was going in needing, and wanting, to be convinced. After all of the hype about the power and speed I was a bit disappointed to be honest. Sure, the car pulls and continues to pull hard, but there was no neck snapping into the headrest. It built speed very quickly and smoothly. Funny, the ID.3 does have a good instant kick when you floor it, but the ID.4 with the same battery and drive doesn't have it, the software tames it quite a bit.

I could probably get over the look of the thing, given time. The Y is a little better looker than the 3, but there isn't much in it. The space inside is amazing and the various storage areas are huge.

The seats were comfortable, if firm. The suspension was fine. I had no issue with it. The tech is, of course, first rate and makes my ID.3 Tour feel like something from the nineties.

The Polestar was very interesting and was quick off the line, but hampered by front wheel drive. The cabin felt very cramped after the Tesla and the tech wasn't in the same ballpark at all. Nicer looking car though IMHO. It's a bit conventional, but if that's what you prefer, it's worth a look. Very similar money to the Tesla and even better availability.

My finger is trembling on the Tesla trigger. Dunno why I haven't pulled it already. Someone said that the deposit can be recovered under distance selling rules if you change your mind. Is there a time limit on that or can it be done right up to delivery?

Effectively no trade in of the ID.3 is awkward, but I'm sure it would sell easily. The spec just can't be bought at any money from VW at the moment. If someone needs/wants a 77kWh battery in an ID.3, second hand is the only option, and they're scarce.

Tow hitch alone doesn’t bring it over the grant. It’s €1350 if you get it fitted at time or ordering or €1500 fitted afterwards.

But yes, If you order any combination of colour and tow or white interior and tow etc the grant is lost.

What version are you considering ordering?

The demo cars are Long Range versions so are decently quick but not Performance Models of course. I think you can add the Acceleration Boost after delivery.

They are a heavy car too so performance is lower than the M3.

@Silent Running - "After all of the hype about the power and speed I was a bit disappointed to be honest. Sure, the car pulls and continues to pull hard, but there was no neck snapping into the headrest"

What are you comparing it to? The car you drove was an AWD LR, it does 0-60 in 4.4s, that's the verified time by zeroto60times.com, not a dodgy rolling start figure from Tesla. According to parkers, your 77kWh ID.3 does it in 7.6s. I guess if you are used to a significantly faster car, it could possibly feel slow. My current car does it in about 5s and that also feels slow to me. Or of course you didn't have the car in sport mode, but as a former Ioniq 28kWh owner, I can almost rule that out 😂

And the neck snapping doesn't really exist unless you have a dodgy neck or are in a car much faster than that. I've done many launches in the Raven Model S with Cheetah stance (about the fastest production car ever made at the time), which does 0-60 in 2.3s and I guess there's a bit of that alright. But that's faster than a F1 car.

Awful pity we are not getting it. But, you could wrap the car in that colour.

My lucky mate who has a quicksilver Model Y performance ordered sent that earlier to me, it's from this video:

More quicksilver porn - when I saw it, I called it silver on steroids 😁 (from about 55 minutes in)

    Nope, prefer the darker MSM

    Obviously me too.

Save the MSM!!! My preordered X Plaid is in MSM so I'll be super annoyed if they cancel the color. I'm not sure I want a non MSM tesla at this point.

Amen to that! Since the noughties, we've had waaaay too many silver cars on the road. At one point pre-boom, it was like every second car was silver.

If I could change my blue for quicksilver for free, I sure would!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,819 ✭✭✭Silent Running

Have Tesla goofed on the pricing? If I order a MSM (or blue) Model Y with white interior it comes to €55,390. This shouldn't be possible. If the figure you pay is over 55k then the price before the grant is taken off would be over 60K making it too high to get the grant.

Am I forgetting something? Will Tesla honour the price if the grant can't be applied?

Edit... OK forget all that. Even though it shows the lower price on the website, it shows as over 60K when you download the PDF.

I'm afraid it is you who has goofed 😂

I'd be interested in your answer on my last question to you about how you felt the acceleration of the Model Y AWD LR was disappointing?

Notice there on my Model Y order page, they are asking for insurance details, I’ve already provided licence details, do they want proof that I have insurance for a current car ?

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

We've covered it many times before, you are not looking at the right figures. Of course this is entirely Tesla's fault as they have this ridiculous way of presenting the figures. Just go to pay for the car in cash and you will see how much it is going to cost you. See my screenshot, I have done it for you.

That's a US thing, you can rock up when collecting your car and drive off without any insurance details
