There was a good bit in studio there. Ken spotted that Murphy’s cueing arm is not as straight as it was normally. Could Hinder him for shots off the cushions. Davis implied it could be because of Murphy’s back/neck pain issues.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Trump v Murphy is a good match. Best I think I’ve seen this week. Lots of good safety.

Murphy looks in trouble physically now though.

Murphy really needs this frame… from the bit I’ve seen his positional game is a bit hit and miss and potting suspect.

Judd having a bit of luck at times by missing pots and not leaving anything.

    It’s Parrott/Hendry on the comm for Murphy/Trump.

Murphy was snookered in baulk right behind yellow on Cushion

Hendry - this could be one of those impossible snookers

    Parrot - twice across?

Murphy then plays it, hits red first go easily.

Parrott - You just stick to potting balls - I will do the snookers!

I don't like Parrott - he was slagging Mark Allen off (well, taking the mick anyhow) when they were both on comms duty, last night or the night before (forget who was playing)

Shaun has to fancy hisself to win this one surely - so long as he don't push any boats out

Murphy-Trump really long 7th frame. Scrappy the way the balls went. But great safety/snookers by the two lads. It was basically brown ball game.

Murphy won to pull a frame back. Trump 4-Murphy 3. Great long brown from Murphy.

that excellent thin cut on the brown up in baulk - to leave cueball down on t'other end - from Murphy, was the best of all the safety shots in the latter stages of that frame, imo

and Trump in again early here :(

will Shaun rue that missed green? hope not

balls in good positions for snookers

Murph still got a chance here 😊

madness by Trump there - flirting with knocking black in 🙂

5-3 Trump now. He has impressed me. Has mixed it up well tactically and long pots.

5-4 now Murphy century. Good auld match.

One bad shot and no max… he’d have deserved it.

    now.. decider.

btw Trump has had a good degree of luck, how many reds has he missed and by pure fortune achieved cover !? be nice if Shaun might benefit too.

    hup ya boy ya Spud!!

Pity that Murphy / Trump wasn’t a final. Both fellas played great.

Trump knew it as over when he missed the pot down the cushion. Fair play to Murph.

    predictions:

    Hossein Vafaei win 6-4

    Bingham win 6-3

    €5 win on Hossein @ ~11/8 on exchange ☺️

would imagine Bingham be too good for Joe

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,165 ✭✭✭Sweet Talkin Romeo

Murphy on comms on RB 😁

    have a rest Shaun!

Bingham about to level up at one apiece here

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,311 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    was thinking the same.

Lisowski is hammering Vafaei 3-0… and easily too.. I am thinking whitewash.

however Jack missing an easy black off it’s spot as I type and Hossein with a decent opportunity to pull one back.

    Lisowski in scintillating form

a lotta comp for Ronnie, with plenty 'holding their hands up' , as they say :)

That Iranian fella just knocked in fluid century 3-1 now. It is on BBC 4 for some strange reason.

fekkit - think they're showing same match as Eurosport

    pity :(

my favourite bit is where he says there is no Hendry or Higgins around today, even though Higgins is ranked 4 in the world

    Prediction Contest :

    Ronnie 6 Ding 4

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,704 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

I think Ronnie will win handier 6-2. That was top of my head. But I then looked up cuetracker. Recent results have been close but Ronnie has won them all.

The last time Ding beat Ronnie was the 2019 UK. Last 16 Ding won 6-4. If I remember the BBC implied that since the Covid lockdowns etc were particularly hard on him. And stalled his snooker momentum.

The previous time to that where Ding won v Ronnie was in WC 2017.

I find it really frustrating watching Ding. Seems like a nice fella. I always hope he does well. A nice silky player.

But he seems to find a way to lose games he could have won. He needs to spend a year practicing with Selby/Higgins I think.

Edit - I left out the 2017 WC! Seems like a lifetime ago!

I think our hopes rest on Ding if we are to have a close run tournament over the weekend. Think Ronnie steamrollers home on Sunday night if he gets through this...Of course I know Mark Allen looks good on the other side but it's a long time since he beat Ronnie over a distance. Ding has a decent record over Ronnie in recent majors, I think back to the 2019 UK and 2017 Worlds so could be a decent shout - Would love to see him back on top form- I think at his best he is still leaps and bounds ahead as the top Chinese player.
