I need to have some documents sent to me signed by me and witnessed and returned to Italy, They will be in Italian I also need to have my proof of identity witnessed and approved.

I would be grateful if somebody could suggest a name or a firm either here or by message

If it just needs to be witnessed the solicitor doesn't need to speak fluent Italian. All they do is sign to say they saw you sign.

They do the same with the ID they don't need to understand what it says

Does the witness need to be a solicitor?

If it needs to be validated you need a notary public. Witnessing a document and notarising it are two very different things.

Quick phone call to the Italian Embassy? I imagine their consular section keeps a register of solicitors, doctors, dentists etc. who speak Italian.

You will likely need a notary public not just a solicitor.

@nick 56 did you ever find someone who can do this for you?

I ended up using https://dublin2notary.ie/ in the end and he was excellent, he can do Portuguese/Spanish documents too if people need them.
