That website is a joke. 8.45 sailing on the 2nd

using above code €195 (with 20% promotional saving)
    using RWC2015 €195 (with 10% promotional saving)
using no code at all €195

That just means the code doesn't apply to the sailing you're after I think, or has expired. They don't ever say "This code has expired", it just shows the regular price.

Nope, it says below the price that the discount had been applied

If you are signed up to get their emails you get the offers emailed to you, for France iirc there is 10% off atm for booking summer holidays.

On the home page there is a link to sign up to their newsletter and they'll send out details of the deals when they come up.

Just a reminder - if you want a Stena Line crossing then it normally works out cheaper to book it as a Hotel break; just book the hotel for one night, you can then adjust your ferry times to suit. You then get a big discount on the ferries. Works out cheaper even if you don't need the hotel.

Is there any good recommended hotels to go for to bring this down.

Just click on Short breaks & holidays - Hotel breaks to Britain.

Then select the area you want the hotel in - you should be shown a list of hotels then. Pick one then click Change ferry; you can then change your ferry times to suit.

Or just type SALE into promotions when booking
only available for the Belfast - Scotland route

I rarely use the promo codes as there is normally a bigger discount if you book the hotel break.

Just looking at booking Hotel and Ferry to save even though I don't need the hotel.

If I just dont turn up for the hotel will there be an issue or no-show fees?

Ferry alone is €330 with the hotel its €300!

Good plan. I had to do that once, just phoned the hotel direct the day before and said plans had changed, no problem.

If I was you I'd phone the hotel and say your plans may change on the day and if any problem if you don't show. I'm not sure what Stenas policy is on this. Always works out cheaper, I've done it a few times.

Prices are quite high on that route. €400 for a w/e return in May!

I know its ridiculously high for a short trip - that's why I was asking for any discount codes!

You really need to book about 6 weeks in advance and with a discount code to get the best price. The price does go up as the date gets nearer.

I'm not sure this is true. It would appear to me that base prices are set according to season and sailing time that do not change. Tesco Boost prices are then slightly higher than the base price. Stena and IF send out regular emails of various discounts off the base price, usually within hours of each other and invariably expiring at the same time.

I've always found it cheapest to book a night's accommodation and the sailings together if travelling with Stena when I didn't have enough Tesco vouchers. The last time we booked just a car return journey with cash was 2006.

Try checking the same journey at the same time 6 weeks before you travel and then a week before, then tell me if its true.

I will be making a booking for the summer so I'll do as you say and note the base price at the time of booking and a week before travel. Probably will book about 4-6 weeks before we go, which for me balances the security of knowing your first choice sailing won't be booked out whilst being reasonably certain that plans won't change before departure. Really can't see them going up much though - they're already high enough and inflation's flat.

25% off at the minute for Dublin to Holyhead and Rosslare to Pembroke / Fishguard routes. Discount seems to have increased as we head towards summer - so much for the advantage of booking early!

Might be due to lower bookings from UK residents due to fall in value of sterling since last year.

Today I got a 15% discount on Irish Ferries Rosslare-Pembroke route for travel in June. I did click through from a promo email.
(Alas, no Stena codes knocking about. I 'd prefer Fishguard)

From an email I received from Stena yesterday:
"Whisk your friend or partner away, for FREE*. To celebrate International Day of Friendship this 30 July, we’re giving you 48 hours to book a freebie for your bestie. Treat your shipmate to a road trip from Dublin to Holyhead or Rosslare to Fishguard, using offer code BESTIE by 31 July.
Plus Kids go FREE if you book right now!"

From an email from Irish Ferries, no code necessary:
"Are you looking for some quality family time where you really can all travel together? We may have just the answer. Travel together to Britain this year and the Kids can travel for FREE! And you can explore the ship at your own pace, no seatbelts needed here!
Book your trip with us and you can pack up your car with all you need and head off to explore the best of Britain this year".
