Great idea to park illegally.

If I'm in the market for a car, it'll be the car/reputation/value/features I'll be looking at. An ocean, mountain, or waterfall won't make any difference...in fact, I'll probably just scroll past it because it because it will appear as bland and generic as every other ad I scroll past several times a day.

I've done this myself selling my own car and I'm not in any shape or form a clever marketer nor in the car industry. Not salthill but in a nice wooded area in a local beauty spot.

It's illegal to park a 'for sale' car on a public road. The regulation is there for a very good reason - in some towns and suburbs you'd have a backstreet dealer with little or no forecourt and the council doesn't want him clogging up the adjacent streets with his 'for sale' fleet.

Gardaí that aren't bothered enforcing the law. Happens all the time.

I don't think you really know how the Gardai work to be honest.

It's hard to see from their well cropped photos and faded road markings, but they're actually parked on a cycle path/footpath and double yellow lines and pretty much on top of a pedestrian crossing. It's fair to say it's hardly a minor transgression.

They actually could have easily parked legally a few meters down the road but then maybe the 'photo op' wouldn't have been as good.

I think he was making the point to the marketing graduate OP that dealers have a long history of displaying cars in scenic locations. There was absolutely nothing unique about the gimmick they think they invented.

Why would you think that most of them end up with a ticket? If there was a vaguely realistic chance of being caught, people wouldn't persist in parking illegally, day in, day out.

Not great advertising for the marketing degree of whatever university or technological university the OP graduated from.
