It's certainly has less laugh out loud moments.

Invested enough overall to stick with it and see how it plays out

Yes, instead of being manic the hotel manager just seems pi##d off with everything. I think her character will evolve - just guessing.

That reminds me, some folks on Reddit were trying to detect clues in the credits.

Im not trusting that Albie fella. His Dad is a sex addict, his granddad is a dirty old man, and yet Albie is this perfect guy. I'm not buying it. I bet Portia is the one that ends up sleeping with the fishies and it's Albie as the one who puts her there.

The White Lotus” has been renewed for Season 3 at HBO.

The news of the renewal comes as creator Mike White’s hit anthology series has aired just three out of seven episodes of its second season. Like the seasons before it, the third season will follow a new group of guests at an entirely different White Lotus resort. The first season was set in Hawaii, while the second is set in Sicily.

Brilliant so far, as good as the first season

I like her but I really miss Armond’s shenanigans.

First 2 episodes of season 2 amusing, with its awkward dissections of relationships and backgrounds, but nothing particularly engrossing (apart from Imperioli's). Having said that, season one took a while to be invested in also. Its progress is still oddly mesmerizing, aided of course by the soundtrack. As in the first series, death was the foreshadowed backdrop, but quickly dropped as the characters and their foibles develop. Like the first, it feels the need for the pace to pick up a bit though; the first series revolved around the concierge's downward spiral in connection with the death, paralleled here with the Michael Imperioli character, but this is probably a bit too obvious. I suppose an anthology shouldn't follow the same pattern; I'm thinking the "We never argue" couple; sublimation outlet required there somehow I'd say.

I wonder is the anthology format a whodunnit, without a central sleuth? Every season we get fed a death/deaths and we observe the relationships, and have to figure out who gets killed and why. Hotel cluedo, where we're the sleuths.

I think it's better than the first season and I thought that was excellent. Best show on tv at the moment imo.

Really enjoyed the 4th episode, it's really coming into form now. Tom Holland and his gay friends are a great addition. Loving the Albie and Portia story now with the cheeky Essex boy's involvement.

Or, "Hotel chain "White Lotus"-set Cluedo game of who gets killed by whom" renewed for 3rd season. 🙂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,214 ✭✭✭Xander10

Yeah thought esp 4 had loads of content and a good spattering of the humour moments.

Warming up nicely after what seemed a slightly slow start.

Randomly looked up one of the places they were having dinner on one of the trips I think and found it, looks pretty good!

2.04, with the trappings and consequences of behaviour, transactional? A healthy dollop of foreshadowing too. Trust is very much in short supply. Is there something here about false promises? Tanya gets to unburden herself, accompanied by the island's story and that soundtrack. Most of the episode was closer to the beach and therefore to death i.e. the bodies of first episode and on that note, is it the 'never fight' couple who'll survive the Italian trip unscathed? Throw in some church ridin', imagery because the revelations here are getting a little biblical. Piano man can't hit any of the right notes. Harper's stomach is churning, much like the ocean. Conscience being tested all the way, yo.

Not as good as season one as the manager of the hotel from Australia was irreplaceable

    still good though

Really enjoyed the 5th episode. Great characters, great storyline ... really starting to build up to the finale.

This is better. He was funny but it made the whole thing a bit of a Carry On.

This season is way more dark and tense and mysterious as to which of the relationships is going to explode and how.

Its a diamond cast, especially Aubrey Plaza, who I'm not normally too excited about, but she's brilliant here. I also love Mia the singing prostitute, I just feel she's going to be central to something in the climax, but not sure why.

I like both of the working girls, enjoyed how they showed a nuanced side to their characters last week

Lucia is devastatingly hot, but Mia is interesting too.

    2.05

The intoxicating landscape once more and all things transactional, confessional and tempting. The new bloke on the front of house/reception role and was a welcome moment of levity, given everything else that was afoot. Harper was knocking it back to a solid degree following the collapse of her world, she got some info from Daphne, though. Mimetic desire - that's come up here or in TVland perhaps before, can't recall. You've normalised it for him, anything for a dose of blame shift. Granddad just comes out with it. I'm concussed. Dominic's walk on the beach made me wonder if he'll end up under the water or is the loss of his marriage enough suffering? Don't know the opera, Madame Butterfly, in question to read into any parallels and themes of the performance. The property was a little haunting.

It went over my head the relevance of showing the picture of her kid when I think she was insinuating that she was getting porked by her personal trainer. Did anyone understand this?

i think it was quite clear that daphne was telling harpur she was fcuking the personal trainer, and used the photo of her blonde blue eyed child to show she can get what she wants without cameron copping on.

Mike White keeps throwing in delicious teasers giving everyone an agenda .Jack is a brave ( or stupid ) boy to cheat on his restaurant bill in Sicily. Also owing money to a Sicilian 'escort ' doesn't seems healthy to me. Lastly who was getting rogered in the final scene - too dark for me.

Then click on the " - toggle special formats menu - and then click on the spoiler tab .....

I know ......... "why come in here if you havent watched the latest episode ...." 🙄

blah blah blah.... but its only a few that just explode the episode, most dont....

Stifler's mom husband is the cowboy that the broke "high-end gay" (Hollander) was on about.

it was obvious that they were out to scam her from the get-go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,459 ✭✭✭kerplun k

Yeah, I think it’s obvious now that Tanya is being scammed. It’s looking more likely that her Husband Greg is behind it. Him wanting rid of the assistant at that start makes sense. The Essex guy was then brought in to distract her.

There's so much going on , I feel I could do with re-watching the five episodes for bits not picked up.

Without creating a spoiler, in episode 3 , did Cameron leave the wrapper behind at Ethan's place for Harper to find? Or was it a careless accident?

It feels like Cameron & Harper are playing some (mind) game.

i don't thing that they had to bring in jack - he was already there as yer man's bum boy. he was just asked to multi-task you could say.

Grandad ( F Murray Abraham) has no guilt ( yet is well rounded)

Christopher from the sopranos is guilty about his philandering and sex addiction

the grandson is guilty about being male - western full stop and is suicidally WOKE

fascinating study of three different generations of American - western men

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,503 ✭✭✭✭Mad_maxx

The actress from parks and recreation is that know it all bossy feminist type who thinks she’s smarter ( and more moral ) than everybody else and especially women like Daphne, not a subtle nuanced bone in her body which is why she both missed Daphnes subtle message about the personal trainer and underestimates Daphne completely

the Korean American guy should’ve said it was his condom and be done with her , she’s itching to fcuk his ( inbetweeners movie villain) friend anyway

Wonder will a lot of the fallout come in the next episode, or will they wait for the final episode, although that doesn't allow for much of the repercussions to play out.

Loving the season though. To the poster saying about Harper being the sort to be superior than everyone, absolutely bang on. Although always find the show to be about highlighting people's flaws, some people just worse than others.

The only decent normal person in the show is Tanya’s PA

fairly predictable episode as the deliberate shaping of the perspectives of the script from one side to the other continues

Ethan handling the jealousy angle worse than his missus

Stifler's mom back on the bag and getting set-up for a pricey mistake but will the plan work?

Still though - who is / are going to be the fatal casualty / casualties of it all by the end of the last episode?

I felt that that this was the least enjoyable episode of the series. Everything seemed rushed, seemingly to turn the plot screws and set up next week's climax: the characters didn't have time to breathe as a result. Ethan's sudden paranoid turn especially seems hurried.

Pretty sure that Lucia is playing white knight Albie for money, and the guy that she's trying to escape is probably her boyfriend, who she is in cahoots with.

I'm not sure what Tanya saw in the photo: a young Tom Hollander with her husband? Is her hubbie a grifter too, and playing a long game to milk this ditzy billionairess of her money? I suspect that there'll be secret video footage of Tanya and Niko going at it in the next episode, either for blackmail purposes or else to be used against her in a divorce trial, where hubby can get a nice settlement from her and get back with his true love Hollander. Does she have a pre-nup? I can't remember. They definitely wanted to keep Portia away from Tanya and used the young English guy for this purpose. Also at the beginning of the season Tanya's husband was annoyed that she had brought along Portia in the first place, and it seems that it was because he wanted intimacy, but now it's more likely he wanted her away from Tanya so she was exposed: they must be playing Tanya for her money.

With regard to all the dead people at the beginning of the season, surely it has to be some party gone wrong with Hollander's friends and acquaintances? Maybe bad cocaine at a yacht party.

Would agree not as tight as other episodes but that's pretty much always the case with shows as they move towards a predefined plot denouement, especially in a seven episode format like this one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,503 ✭✭✭✭Mad_maxx

Ethan has been fighting to prevent his “ friend “ stealing his thunder - success his whole life, this situation is entirely expected

Tanyas husband is clearly out to scam her , that was obvious before Quentin ( gay English dandy) showed up

I reckon the Sicilian working girl is in cahoots with the guy who is perceived to be harassing her , the Uber WOKE Albie is the perfect mark for a hustler like her , if it wasn’t her who stitched him up, it would be some girl back in America

I agree about Greg now having evidence of Tanya cheating, she’s so rich , loosing a hundred million won’t matter, she probably lost huge sums a few times before anyway, doubt they kill her off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,627 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

I'm not enjoying this series nearly as much as the first.

It's all just too contrived, clichéd and OTT, and very predictable.

And if I see one more crashing wave / disturbed sea metaphor......

Great acting, though, and I'm rooting for Mia to make it! She's the only one I give even half a hoot about in the whole series.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,804 ✭✭✭recipio

Brilliant penultimate episode. Everyone is teed up for failure and I think Lucia is not as innocent as she pretends. I thought the Di Grasso family scene was hilarious. As a piece of comedy drama it is unsurpassed IMO

2.06 and things are near boiling point, with dejection, paranoia, a sense of discord and fishing for information. The world of contrasts again, just as Daphne returned and various personas to maintain and a sinking sensation throughout. And we're back to the beach where the bodies turn up. Ethan went for a plunge and the knives were being put in here somewhat or they're about to. I thought his head was going to meet an underwater rock or are we building to a rampage? Portia got a reality check. Tanya was fairly coked up to her eyeballs with the opera reference too, this was another concern. I quite like Harper. Now let's all fire some artichokes in digust, just like the locals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,459 ✭✭✭kerplun k

Okay, so after 6 episodes who do we reckon is getting sliced? I’m going with Cam and Portia. Total guess, but think they are best set up for the chop?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,804 ✭✭✭recipio

Greg has to make a re- appearance. A lot will depend on his agenda. I must say I find Jack repulsive. A cockney accent and a jolly roger smile. Not exactly son in law material.

the photo was Tanyas husband Greg with Quentin. It is definitely moving from the realms of "something not quite right" to "THIS IS A SCAM" territory. Otherwise its a revenge act by quentin onto the "hetrosexual cowboy" he was in love with only.

Will Portia (and Jack?) come to Tanyas rescue by destroying evidence in the final episode?

still cant put my finger in who is going to die. i dont think it will be a major character and might end up being someone like Lucias pimp / boyfriend. will Albie face off and blow his lid? will his father do it for him? Then they go home keeping omerta ;)
