Should be a 7-10 point victory. 3-20 to 2-6 was score the last time they met. The return of Tony Kelly plus one or two others unlikely to over turn a 17 pt deficit…..B-gunner with young Fitzgerald and a few others who are have improved and showing good form (leavey to name one) are now arguably an even better team……for ballyea to win it would take a ballygunner performance like the one in 2019 down in cork.

Best of luck to Ballygunner today and hope they get the job done

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,387 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Very close game here, as expected both teams will up for it

Tony Kelly playing very well and Ballygunner need to stop giving away frees when he's in that form

Great game so far, and don't think there will be too much in it either way. Ballygunner have scored one goal but have kind of butchered two other goal chances so will need to be a bit more clinical in the 2nd half, as you don't want to have Ballyea within 4 points of you coming down the final stretch.

Some of the quality of scoring from both sides has been exceptional though.

Ballygunner not having it all their own way. The big difference is that Gunners are threatening goals whereas SOKY hasn’t seen any action.

Brilliant win for Ballygunner and huge congratulations

First provincial 2 in a row for any Waterford club possibly Waterford hurling too

looking like a return to Thurles in 2 weeks against Ballyhale or Kilmacud in the All Ireland Semi Final

Why are they Interviewing Tony Kelly with the Ballygunner speechs still going on ?

Shows how dead this place is now

History made today in Waterford hurling and only a few comments about it

I wasn’t too far off with prediction…….even though with 15 mins to go it didn’t look that it would be a 9 pt victory. Fitzgerald definitely gives her ballygunner attack another dimension. Is it enough to beat the Leinster champs and follow up with another all Ireland remains to be seen…?

Semple Stadium may not be available for the semi final, due to scheduled pitch repairs ! If so, would it be Portlaoise or Cork ………. probably not the latter but the surface would be good.

The last 2 games will stand to Ballygunner. Ballyhale brushed aside an average James Stephen’s side and have coasted into a provincial final. Crokes will give them a rattle tomorrow but will probably come up short.

Well done to Ballygunner, great win for them. Back to back Munster’s is a huge achievement for a Waterford club. All the best in their drive now for another AI.

Wouldn't rule out Croke Park too, think that game will be a Saturday evening slot, world cup final at 3 on the Sunday so GAA will surely avoid that for the TV other semi probably at 1 on the Sunday as a wedding on the Saturday linked to St Thomas and apparently the clubs don't want to wait til after xmas.

If its Ballyhale v Ballygunner could be limerick with the new surface.

Possibility alright. Surely must have somewhere lined up already if they won't change the dates to the new year

St Thomas and the Ulster champs must be licking there lips to avoiding the 'big guns'. If Slaughtneil win Ulster I would not rule them out of getting too Croke Park

Great win for Ballygunner. Ballyea were very good for 45 minutes but strong finish from the Gunners to win well in the end. Patrick Fitzgerald is some talent. Would he be seen as too young to join Waterford senior panel?

  • Registered Users Posts: 818 ✭✭✭lim4ev

are you joking? for me fitzgerald has to be brought in no question as you said he's some talent.

From the outside looking in he's better than some of yer other corner forward options I think he has to be given a chance

If you’re good enough, you’re old enough !

Fitzgerald is the real deal. Even though he was awarded MOTM, it could equally have been given to Tony Kelly ; his performance in the first half was off the charts. Three Ballygunner players picked up yellow cards for tackles on Kelly. The latter faded in the 2nd half, even missing 2 frees. Incidentally, I think Pairic Mahony converted all of his frees.

Brick Walsh presenting MOTM award ! Looked like he might have been spotted in the crowd and someone just asked him to step in and hand over the trophy.

Only 2 words of caution I'd give with Fitzgerald is Shane Bennett, if he's still in school he might want to wait til after the leaving cert too.

Ballygunner were and have been a class act for the last number of years and instead of looking for excuses when things went wrong they took it on the chin and learned - hats off to them and congratulations- from a very proud Deise supporter

Dunloy have beaten Slaughtneil and so play St Thomas’ in the All-Ireland semi-final. Leinster final is as good as over at half-time, Ballyhale looking comfortable.

    Ballygunner vs Ballyhale it is

Skin and hair will be flying

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,259 ✭✭✭Mastermcgrath

would they play it in Wexford Park if Thurles is not available? Close venue to both sides and a straight road down

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,067 ✭✭✭Billy Ocean

I'd imagine it will be at floodlid venue which would rule it out, their installing them in Wexford Park at the moment, 1st game under lights is January 21st.

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,387 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Croke Park was mentioned on the TG4 broadcast today

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,461 ✭✭✭decies

Terrible time of the year to be dragging a Kilkenny and Waterford team to Dublin especially a evening game if semi venue

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,083 ✭✭✭PeggyShippen

    Play it in Limerick?

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,553 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Ferrybank an ideal venue for both teams. Only problem might be parking

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,778 ✭✭✭Motivator

Would Carriganore be an option? It’s 20 minutes from Ballyhale and can accommodate the crowd. Pitches are in good nick and TG4 have covered games in the Fitzgibbon down there. A fortnight before Christmas, dragging supporters up or down the country would be a nonsense idea.

Wouldn't make much sense, 2 hour journey for both on poor enough roads, at least Croke park is a motorway journey, 2 hours for Ballygunner and 1hr 30 mins for Ballyhale. Portlaoise would make more sense than Limerick.
