Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would rather Brazil win than be bored in the semi-final by Croatia

Would love Croatia to do it. Couldn't care less about Ronaldo and Messi, Modric has been the most enjoyable player to watch for much of the last 10 years for me. A bloody genius

Probably slight advantage to Croatia. Though the coin toss seems to favour the team going second.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,306 ✭✭✭✭Drumpot

If I had to bet, I’d say Brazil to Bottle it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,713 ✭✭✭This is it

    Come on Croatia!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,656 ✭✭✭DJIMI TRARORE

    Can't see Brazil winning this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

    Croatian keeper strikes again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,713 ✭✭✭This is it

    Oh lord!

Good save, not a great save.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

If he is the hero here again, the Croatian keeper, he may get keeper of the tournament.

Great great penalty Casemiro under pressure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Croatian keeper close to getting that. It had to be that good to beat him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,054 ✭✭✭wanderer100

That’s how you take a penalty , great stuff Casemiro

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,271 ✭✭✭Tandey

Ice cold Modric. Someone give him a hot chocolate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,842 ✭✭✭crushproof

Side note, Jermaine Jenas does my nut in

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,271 ✭✭✭Tandey

Wow that's the best penalty yet. Unstoppable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

That penalty had to be perfect to beat Alisson. Close.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,054 ✭✭✭wanderer100

Brilliant pens from Croatia so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Wow. If England beat France tomorrow, everyone here, in Scotland, and in Wales better brace themselves.

Modric is the best midfielder in the world.

    Holy jaysus! Delighted for them

    BRAZIL ARE OUT !!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Mad stuff! Brazil are out! Neymar, where were you? He probably was going to be 5th penalty taker, trying to claim the limelight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,656 ✭✭✭DJIMI TRARORE

Really are mentality monsters, unbelievable pen and et record

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Typical BBC commentary, get a dig in at the Muslim footballer at all costs even when they’re not involved. Pathetic.

To the surprise of absolutely no-one, Nay-mar presumably wanted to go fifth to take all the glory.

    Absolute social media footballer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,271 ✭✭✭Tandey

    No more dancing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,306 ✭✭✭✭Drumpot

Croatia should do a little pre planned dance around the pitch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,842 ✭✭✭crushproof

Absolutely insane, Brazil are a joke.

Roll on the Neymar tears, can't believe he didn't even take one!

Croatia truly punching above their weight again, delighted for Modric.

  • Site Banned Posts: 20,685 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

Lovely. Modric is an all time great.

Brazil screwed up big time. 1-0 up and showboating out on the right wing after winning a free kick and concede from the break with a 3 on 3. Ridiculous game management.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,937 ✭✭✭omega man

Neymar I assume was waiting for 5th pen glory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

These South American teams just don’t have it anymore, that last 1%.

We’ll see what happens tonight, but I’m predicting yet another all-European final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,913 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Didi Hamann dancing somewhere I would say?

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

I'm delighted that Brazil are out. Neymar not getting to take a penalty makes it even better. I will never change my opinion of him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,913 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

You wouldn’t begrudge that fella a WC title.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,935 ✭✭✭kksaints

Croatia are some team. They just keep pulling it out of the fire.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,913 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

They are guessing now he was likely no5 taker.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Site Banned Posts: 20,685 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

If they win fair play. They've come undone against more technically gifted and tactically astute team in pretty much every tournament for the past few they've been in. Germany in the ruos maybe on history, but it was a bad German team, and the euros was also entirely partisan for then too.

Spot on, I wonder did the manager pander to it? Cannot stand the chap, between the constant WC fails and playing for PSG he is a total waste of a talent.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,937 ✭✭✭omega man

Yeah for me the winner of this goes on to win it with Portugal an outside bet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,586 ✭✭✭cmac2009

Rodrygo was one of the most nervous and scared looking penalty takers I've seen in a while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,847 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Yeh, just on Neymar, I'd never begrudge someone accepting to take the 5th pen, but there's clear narcisism involved with him

He wanted the 'take jersey off and wave it' moment for sure

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Modric. I don't know what you can say.

I've honestly never seen a player more pressure resistent in possession than him. it honestly does not matter how many players you pressure him with, or how many passing lanes you cover, he'll find a way out.

Best midfielder of the millennium. And has the longevity at an insane level too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,124 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

He is not a top player in a multi generational sense. When he retires kids will say "Neymar who" but we are currently obliged to talk about him like he is brilliant so the Brazilians won't get sour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,868 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

    Delighted for Brazil and Neymar

On the plus side they'll have plenty of time now to practice their dance moves 👍

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,124 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Never thought we would see a better playmaker/passer than Pirlo but he has all that and more solid too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

he's half a tier above Pirlo, IMO. and that may be controversial.

Pirlo was utterly magnificent, and is slightly more likely to provide a Hollywood moment in the form of an outrageous assist or goal.

but at everything else, I've not seen anyone on Modric's level in the last 20 years.

It is the rolling around that annoys me. And the funny thing is when Neymar scored I thought he has finally turned up when his team needed him in a big game.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.
