Papa Leahy, unbelievable. Thought red was harsh there, no wrap but looked to me like initial contact was at the shoulder.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,025 ✭✭✭Euphoriasean

Still don't know what changed the refs mind with the red. He was giving the red then somehow changed his mind. it was borderline.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,127 ✭✭✭testtech05

Such a big collision it was hard to tell where initial contact was I agree but his technique was terrible just rushed into him and wrapped after the hit.

The 2nf row was lucky the tmo talked the ref down to a yellow for him. He was getting a red initially too.

    Great finish killgallen

Titi with another high looking hit on Thornbury there and looks like Gavin might be badly injured

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,220 ✭✭✭SqueakyKneecap

Boyle and Thornbury are worrying injuries. Boyle was just back to his best too.

We've been sloppy off the mauls but a lot of decent bits of rugby in that half. Hawkshaw's try was absolutely brilliant improvisation.

It was only the last week or 2 we were thinking maybe our luck was changing with the injuries but they look like 2 serious ones to have gotten in the one half.

Finger's crossed they aren't as bad as they look for the lads.

Fair play to Connacht with a 21-3 lead. Secure the bonus point and Connacht will have a decent control of qualification and seeding in the Challenge Cup.

Bundee looks like he’d rather be anywhere else than in France tonight

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,220 ✭✭✭SqueakyKneecap

We've actually been fairly poor considering the numbers advantage we've had

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,127 ✭✭✭testtech05

That's a very generous try that's been given to Brive. Don't think he touched it down at all

Could be a very long 10 mins

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,025 ✭✭✭Euphoriasean

trying our best to lose this. Been so poor this second half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,127 ✭✭✭testtech05

Since the 4th try have pretty much downed tools

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,127 ✭✭✭testtech05

    Shocking

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,025 ✭✭✭Euphoriasean

this is shocking, how can we be so vunerable out wide with an extra man.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,220 ✭✭✭SqueakyKneecap

One of our most pathetic halves in a long time here

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,127 ✭✭✭testtech05

    Got out of jail there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,220 ✭✭✭SqueakyKneecap

That laziness reminded me an awful lot of the time we had Scarlets beaten in Wales at HT and then conspired to concede nearly 50 points on the bounce in the second half to lose it. A better team tonight would've caught us even with less players on the field.

That’s a great result away to a French club, fair play to the Connacht squad

Five points. Take it and run.

Anyone who saw offer a general overview of game? Shocking second half it seems. Darragh Murray played very well based on Connacht Twitter?

Pity about those injuries. Thornbury seems to be going through a bad run of them and as said above Boyle was playing his best in a fair while recently.

Delighted with the result regardless of the second half. Another win and we have a home last 1/16 game and that's pretty much the end of the urc season for us so we can have a decent crack maybe get a home 1/4 and get 2 more home gates. Really looking forward to the ulster game, have a good vibe about this game.

Match finished as a contest really when Big Papa got sent off in the first half. Was impressed by Kilgallon who scored a fantastic try and made one massive try saver. Hurley Langton was good in the Conor Oliver role and was gouged and nearly boxed while on the ground at one stage. Young Murray was a handful all night and had one lovely steal for a Brive lineout in addition to one savage carry. Brive shot themselves in the foot for the first 60 minutes with their discipline and I reckon if they got their act together with an extra 5 minutes on the clock we wouldn't have come away with a win. Brive got change out of us when they ran it out the back, particular the English lad on the wing.

The points are the most important thing obviously but every little piece helps when it comes to point differentials and we left 3 or 4 trys behind us. Not often you'd see as many negatives as positives in a TBP win but it was one of those nights.

per the 42.ie shoulder injury for Boyle and dislocated kneecap for thornbury

    https://www.the42.ie/gavin-thornbury-paul-boyle-injury-connacht-brive-5949339-Dec2022/

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,981 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

How did Darragh Murray get on? Does he have a similar skill set to Niall? I.e. more of a focus on athleticism, work rate, and lineout jumping. Rather than power, mauling etc.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,386 ✭✭✭macslash

Saw that. How long would a dislocated kneecap rehab be? 2 months? Google says 6 weeks anyway. We have cover but he'd be a big loss.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,581 ✭✭✭Dubinusa

Papalli is a joke. A constant card shark. Hopefully he gets a ban. Hes not good at rugby. Just a big lump with little technique or skill.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,300 ✭✭✭freyners

Can't see anything bar the one angle on the highlights which honestly looks like a sincere attempt to dip by papailli. Cannot see.any wrap tho. Feel sorry for him but his time at Connacht should have had him on warning

Conor fitzs pass for kilgannens try is a beauty

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,965 ✭✭✭connachta

Boyle was finally kind of a real n°8, first since Muldoon...

Shamus though has the type to play there

and like it or not but Prendergast may be savage for a few games there too

So ulster vs Connacht next. If momentum says anything Connacht have it and ulster are suffering a confidence crisis
