Combi Boiler Viessmann stopped working 2nd time in 7 years on Christmas Eve.

    My Vitodens 100-W B1KA26kW is flushing code "F2" and sending presents of chilly Holidays.

    Originally installed 09/2015 by official Viessmann installer managed to last 3 years. Called the installer, he dismantled whole unit to parts and advised me to install new unit. I contacted Irish Viessmann`s Head Office and was redirected to guys doing guaranty work for merchant. After waiting for a few week boiler was reassembled, heatexchanger cleaned, rubber hoses replaced and unit worked (not without glitches) till 23/12/22. Thanks God it is not below 0 outside.

    Contacted company who fixed and reinstalled unit in October 2018, got advise to buy a new Viessmann for €3800.00 installed. To my comments regarding the Price vs Reliability ratio got advise " other boilers are not as efficient as Vitodens". To my comment regarding warranty and chances new unit would break in 3-4 years again got reply "warranty only covers parts but quality of water to blame". Other brands maybe not as efficient but work for years longer I believe.

    What brand/installer should I go to avoid changing/repairing boiler in the next 3-4 years? Any festive advise would be highly appreciated. Have a warm Holidays!

    Managed to fix heating by pressing "On Button" and turning Heating Knob to a "Reset position".

    Appears "good boiler but very sensitive to debris or blocking due to rubber hoses holding iron oxid" another quote: "Id prefer not to go for the 50w if it has rubber hoses as they are like magnets for dirt and I've been to a lot of vaillants that simply popped like a balloon and pumped out the entire heating system into a customers kitchen"

    Would anybody agree with this advise?: "Keep with Worcester mate your have no worries, as I say viessmann are good but a way to go in terms of service"

    Boiler only worked for a few minutes. By the time i finished editing my previous post heating went of. Fault Code F2 is back. Selebration continues.

    Yes, last service by Board Gas servicemen 24/11/2022. new parts fitted in 10/2018, new radiators, system cleaned.

    I believe a plastic pipe with copper sleeve would be better suited to this boiler than a vulcanized rubber type hose. This is definitely an engineering faux-pas. If these hoses clogged up as shown, the replacement with same would be futile.

    Current models come witch copper pipes. Models exported to North America contained copper pipes, not rubber according to forums.

    Yes, I don’t think I have come across rubber for these setups. I have had 3 electric boilers t different houses, and they were all equipped with copper inserted plastic pipes.

    Contacted Viessmann via email - no response. Requested new boiler installed via "Local Heroes" website - nobody is available.


    Left 4 messages with plumbers having high revues and recommended by others on different platforms - no response.

    left job request with a spouse of a plumber servicing Viessmann boilers locally - no response. Technician from Board Gas returned my call 26.01.22 and claimed he would need to charge me in order to establish boiler fault as 60 days service warranty only covers faults if cased by his poor workmanship. Hoping to get some replies by the end of the day tomorrow.

    Got reply from Viessmann today, Kevin over the phone admitted "boiler gets blocked because rubber hoses are attracting dirt from the system and Viessmann replaced them with copper on newer models".

    Got no reply from this one:

    Contacted companies recommended by Viessmann via email. Waiting for practical and cost effective solution.

    Finally things got going. Managed to chat via the phone to this specialist:

    One of the contacts provided by Viessmann Ireland (same installer advised by Viessmann UK) is coming to fix the boiler tomorrow.

    OMG - that's a mess. I was considering getting a W200 to replace an aging Vokera. Maybe I'll just have to nurse the Vokera and hope to get some more years out of it.

    This is response from Viessmann re warranty:

    Issues arising from sludge and debris present in the heating system or hard water are not covered under the terms of our warranty.

    Your heating system should be fully flushed before the installation of a new boiler and if you live in a hard water area your installer should advise whether water softeners are required as part of their site survey.

    Issue resolved. It took technician to get hot water and heating going in over an hour time. No need for installing a new boiler as per Advanced Heating advise which would set me back €3800.00 boiler + €900.00 for a water cleaning system. Hopefully I will get few more years without investing into a new boiler.
