    Very easy for Dimitri

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,905 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

I think Huybrechts did well to get this far. Dimitri was always winning that one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,496 ✭✭✭Will I Am Not

Huybrechts looks like a bottle of Lucozade.

So careless by Souter. He'll be sickened

Just threw a score on Cullen for this one.

First 2 games today not up to much.

I'm expecting a cracker in the next one

With the pool of players so deep now it's hard not seeing the PDC wanting to expand the tournament again. Logistics could be the issue eg venue availability

If your lucky enough to get a tour card you'd have to be winning at least near £15K to qualify. The big boys will always qualify

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,066 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    Think that was Cullens chance

  • Posts: 13,688 ✭✭✭✭ Cataleya Wooden Roller-skate

Handy enough afternoon for Bully Boy.

That missed double 10 in the first set was a killer for Cullen.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,939 ✭✭✭Sultan of Bling

Missed chances early on for Cullen really affected him.

Smith is even speaking differently since he won the Grand Slam.

Seems more confident now and believes he is going to win.

Shaping up like a Smith MVG final already, can’t see them losing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,066 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Yeah Smith is getting a lot of luck but as you siad his confidence seems sky high

Got him at 9/1 too win it out, still 3 tough games in his way

Cross and MVG both tipping along nicely

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,030 ✭✭✭boomdocker

Cullen didn't show up today unfortunately

Smith could win it - had a serious escape vs Schindler (did he have match darts?) and it's not unusual for the eventual winner to look back at close shaves along the way (snakebite, Rob Cross) so maybe his name is on it

Hope MvG and Cross win tonight, that could be a cracker

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,296 ✭✭✭ongarite

This is a cracking match. Both scoring really high and hitting nice finishes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 690 ✭✭✭US3

Great game delighted for Dobey didn't think he'd have enough to beat cross with cross playing well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,066 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Great game with both players showing up in a big way

Got Dobey at 50/1 too win the title and if he brings that form you never know esp on that side of the draw

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,030 ✭✭✭boomdocker

    Didn't see that coming

Hope he hasn't played his 'final' and can give MvG or DvdB a game in the quarters

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,769 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Dirk threw that set away. MVG isn't playing that outstanding

Far too many trebleless visits from Dirk

MvG never even got out of second gear

Can't see Dobey giving him a game

    QFs so far

    QF1- Price vs Clemens

QF2- Smith vs Humphries or Bunting

He is, but Humphries playing like a Rd1 qualifier

    THE BULLET! BANG-BANG!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,760 ✭✭✭roosterman71

Bunting winning this match knocks Dolan out of the Masters

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,833 ✭✭✭hawkwing

Only 1 close game from the 8 and that was last night,

    1*4-3

    1*4-2

    5*4-1

    1*4-0

Hopefully the quarters are better but on paper they don't look too exciting :-(

Bunting is a dark horse for this, he's been incredible so far and not getting the credit he deserves from Sky etc.

Strange that the narrative is it's MvG's to lose, don't agree, hasn't been tested at all yet.

Been a great championship so far.

    Winner: £500,000

    Finalist: £200,000

    Semi-Finalist: £100,000

    Quarter-Finalist: £50,000

    Round Four: £35,000

    Round Three: £25,000

    Round Two: £15,000

    Round One: £7,500

    It's some prize money tbf

For the big players not getting past Round Three is pennys too them

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,167 ✭✭✭testtech05

They are all over MvG alright I agree that he is favourite but it's far from a done deal in my eyes.

He has taken over Taylors old mantle of getting an interview in the studio post match while the rest of the winners have to just wait on stage aswell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,066 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Rock probably would of been Skys special guest for the night if he'd won last night

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,030 ✭✭✭boomdocker

MvG has been caught out before in tournaments where he has cruised through a few rounds and then come under pressure in a close match

You could argue he was tested by suljovic

My money still on him for the simple fact that to beat him you're gonna have to average over 100 and 40% on the doubles over a best of 9+ sets

Not many players left in can do that

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,152 ✭✭✭PEACEBROTHER

Would love to see Johnny Clayton go all the way

Comes across as a nice guy

Yeah if the first one up here is a close match it could well be the only one...

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,034 ✭✭✭Swaine

DvdB is such an odd character. His demeanor on stage is like that of a man on the cusp of committing suicide.

Clayton was sh1te there, the Rock game took so much out of him, he's not a young man.

  • Registered Users Posts: 632 ✭✭✭squidgainz

He was a bit embarrassing after I had to flick away haha

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,034 ✭✭✭Swaine

Man definitely downs a few drinks before coming on stage, or maybe something a bit more questionable. Deserved his win though.

Bunting 5/2 to beath Smith. I'll be having a poke at that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 632 ✭✭✭squidgainz

Yeah that actually makes sense! Yeah hes been very good does look a little long.

Smith has lost the plot here. Going for bull with 25 left to bust 80.

    Bunting all over him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,833 ✭✭✭hawkwing

Don't really like Smith, face like a slapped hairy arse most of the time. Also the way he throws.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,269 ✭✭✭alan partridge aha

The Bullet finishing absolutely dreadful. Was hoping he'd win but doubles at 24% won't win matches at that level.

Smith's ave under 92, that's poor but finishing got him through.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,281 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

Bunting left that one behind him.

By far the better scoring during that game, doubles let him down badly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,034 ✭✭✭Swaine

Needs to sort that awful beard out. Looks dreadful on him.

His throw is one of the best when on it, looks like he doesn't give a fcuk when he's not on it though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,030 ✭✭✭boomdocker

DvdB has ghosted his way to the semis beating players who are underperforming, hasn't averaged more than 95 in any game

It'll be a sin if he gets to the final

Oh and yes, can't stand him, :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,034 ✭✭✭Swaine

    Tonight's predictions:

    Price 5-1 Clemens

    MvG 5-3 Dobey

I have a feeling we are going to see a 9 darter tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,029 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Would love to see a Clemens or Dobey upset but hard to see passed Price and MVG getting through

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,902 ✭✭✭✭klose

    Some stuff from clemens here

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,030 ✭✭✭Officer999

    Brilliant game
