Not all feeling like cooking from scratch, so store bought chicken, potatoes, lentil/grains with roast tomatoes/serrano and pickled green tomatoes, Dijon mustard.

Ham this year, James Whelan's heritage ham on the bone. Highly recommended. About 6 hours in the oven, deliciously moist. Honey and mustard glaze (took the skin off and glaze on with about 20 mins to go).

Big ham, that roasting tray is a full size one (as in, as wide as will fit in an oven).

    A solid feed.

Nigella's pomegranate and rose pavlova for dessert. Banging.

    Christmas dinner x2!

The first one was made by the inlaws on Christmas Day and then by my parents on Stephen's Day.

Can't believe I've to make my own dinner today... I got spoiled very quickly 😂

@woodchuck fair play for being able to face another turkey dinner today!

I've a fridge full of turkey and ham but that's not getting touched for a few days, chicken curry tonight.

The turkey dinners were actually from the previous 2 days. We've chicken curry on the menu tonight too :) Curry has become somewhat of a Christmas tradition in and of itself!

    Post dinner cheeseboard, all Irish.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,411 ✭✭✭✭woodchuck

The obligatory chicken (and veg) curry

Does anyone still do turkey soup these days?! I look forward to it as much as the dinner tbh! My favourite soup. It’ll be put on now shortly, and a nice light dinner after the last few days!

Recovering from a horrendous lurgy here and finally made the sausage rolls I had been intending to make for Christmas day breakfast. Sausagemeat and onion marmalade on puff and topped with a few sesame seeds. Absolutely delicious.

Ah, sorry, I use the stock for seasoning instead of salt, so it would have gone into the Bechamel 😞

Glad you liked it anyway! With dried sheets you would need a lot more sauce, they do soak up quite a bit. And I have to admit that I usually cook by feeling, so those quantities are definitely open to interpretation. But I'm really happy it turned out well for you and it was tasty 😃

Proper roast chicken dinner. And probably the best chicken gravy ever. Used all the juices plus the carrot and onion from the roasting pan. Reduced down, passed through a sieve and added a teaspoon of wholegrain mustard. It was so good, it made me do a little dance.

Homemade pizza. Not exactly food porn compared to other pizzas on here, but it was tasty!

Kinda glad to be far away enough from Christmas now that I'm back to "regular eating", getting a bit sick of all the rich food and roasts. Cheesey brocolli pasta, mix of the various cheeses leftover.

Followed by ... ok maybe not regular eating but still.

Medi vegetables with sea bass and couscous.

It's not as dry as it looks, I added garlic butter!

    And wine.

    Happy new year Boardsies!

My oven kind of blew up on Christmas Day which made life....interesting.. No roast potatoes etc. I aim to try again today.. I eat very simply so no sauces or frills thank you!

Nibbles dinner this evening. Tortilla chips and home made salsa. Cheese board with home made apple chutney. Duck spring rolls and spicy prawns from Lidl. Hit the spot.

Fresh egg tagliatelle, store bought. Smoked salmon, asparagus, cherry toms. Sauce was double cream, lemon zest, fresh dill and a good handful of parmesan. Served with garlic bread. Himself is well pleased.

Love these kind of dinners. Pick 'n' mix dinners I call them.

Not a picturesque dinner tonight, but bloody delicious.

slow cooked lamb shank on garlic mash some purple carrots and red wine sauce. Melt in the mouth amazingness.

Greek style, simple things (the fish fell apart).

Not homemade; from the Greek deli!

It was in Dunnes. Can't think of the name. It was a part baked baguette. Gave it 7 mins at gas 7, then cut it almost through and loaded it with homemade garlic butter, back in for another 7 mins. I thought it was a bit overdone but himself ate 80% of it and he's very fussy about garlic bread so I'll take that as a win. I'll have a look tomorrow for the brand.

    Fish finger bhorta.

this is a nigella recipe. It doesn’t look like much but it’s amazing. It’s basically a spicy tangy fish finger mess.

fish fingers, chilli, garlic, ginger, onions, pickled onions and spinach.

If you’re hanging, this will sort you out. Mostly cause I make it hot as hell, my wife has to fish the chillis out!

hmm love red onions in a dish - esp if roasted

I don’t allow fish fingers anywhere near the house but I might make an exception…..

I've only ever made the quick pickled red onions (a few hours); would like to try the proper pickling method 😋
