Wow, Stefano has lost some amount of weight, looks brilliant.

The difference in his face, neck + stomach is unreal.

Who dressed Kathryn, she could be going to a funeral in all that black.

Ah Katie looks amazing. So glad they dressed her in something colourful + fun as she is only young.

loved Katie from the start - seems like a lovely person - she looked fab tonight - her Dad said some v wise words.. the process brought them closer as a family..

the best of luck to all of them.. fair play to em.. took courage to do that show

Karl did the 5k twice (like many others) - did it in two cycles (his one with Sarah his 2nd cycle).

I thought the episode tonight was quite wholesome and enjoyable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,777 ✭✭✭Dakota Dan

Comb over Eddie looked under pressure doing the 5k.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,892 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Difference there is he clearly isn’t in great shape/fitness. Seems a very nice guy though

Even if he did 10k he still shouldnt be looking knackered crossing the line on a 44 minute 5k, thats basically a brisk walking pace interspersed with a bit of jogging. For someone who puts himself out there as a fitness guru he doesnt even look that fit or toned himself and is carrying some puppy fat

Man the weather was absolutely horrible too. I think you’re being a bit cynical for little reason here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,071 ✭✭✭boccy23

Christ, poor Karl gets an awful of stick on here.

Found the finale a little boring last night for some reason. But one thing I noticed about the leaders is that they actually look younger compared to the start of the process. And they look happier in themselves. I thought Katie looked really well, the hun-bun did nothing for her - a bit of effort in her clothes and a decent haircut made a big difference.

I agree with the comments about about how the show only being on for 6 weeks doesn't do much for sustaining peoples efforts at improving their health and fitness. I've seen it first hand in local groups out walking, people joining the parkrun for a couple of weeks, the light it up with the GAA clubs stopped when the cameras stopped. I agree that a monthly follow up show is needed to keep the momentum and accountability going, not just for the leaders but for the viewers. Looking after your health shouldn't be a 6 week new years resolution, it should be ongoing.

For people on the show or people watching?

I wouldn't agree it needs to go on longer. 6 weeks of hand holding is enough to teach them what they need to do. You do need will power to make changes. Can't have motivation of tv cameras etc. all your life.

If the show makes 10 people turn their life around and lose weight then it's a success.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,892 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Agreed. The show is to change their routines/lifestyle for the better. It's up for the person to continue that.

Similar with people that get involved in the walking clubs etc. Anyway, if hypothetically 1000 people got involved in walking groups during the show, if even 100 kept it up that should be seen as a success.

Operation Transformation is back in 2023 and there's a new dietician! Aoife is cut from the OT diet.

Hopefully there will be some trans/non-binary contestants this year.

  • Registered Users Posts: 827 ✭✭✭farmingquestion

Would be interesting to see how much weight they'd lose when they chopped their balls off

Should have got Vera Pauw to kick them into shape.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,066 ✭✭✭appledrop

She looks about 12, I doubt she has much life experience.

I'm going to miss Aoife, I liked her. Followed her videos on Instagram last year. Best of luck to all the leaders and the experts in the new show. I'll be tuning in. Really looking forward to seeing how last years participants are getting on now.

The nutritionist role is fairly redundant on the weekly shows.

The diets are set and there's no tweaking to each individuals likes or dislikes.

After the first 3 or 4 weeks max, there's nothing else really that the nutritionist can do.

  • Registered Users Posts: 202 ✭✭Rescue Remedy

The new dietician definitely doesn't have trouble with body fat!

What a depressing loada exaggerated guff

  • Registered Users Posts: 202 ✭✭Rescue Remedy

Katie from 2022 has lost no weight since the end of last year's show. Not a great advertisement for the show.

Realistically if she was continuing to exercise and eat healthily a lot of that soft flesh would be gone. She's a young girl too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,729 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Yes. Was thinking same. She looks no different at all. Yet the experience was transformational…🤔

  • Registered Users Posts: 202 ✭✭Rescue Remedy

I like Lorraine, she seems very genuine.

  • Registered Users Posts: 191 ✭✭weetiepie

Ch@!$t this **** show should have been cancelled long ago..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,978 ✭✭✭sporina

Dietician not exactly the picture of health eh..

  • Registered Users Posts: 202 ✭✭Rescue Remedy

Yes like she's 25 and diet and exercise are the 2 key components. As you say, no transformation, she's carrying a lot of weight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,381 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

Ireland lights up brings back great memories for me of 20+ years ago when you could have another BnH ready for extraction no matter where you were.

By the end of the 8 weeks Marie Claire will be 6ft and a stone lighter. The transformation team will be using the Willy Wonka stretching machine this season.

Sure why would she need to be a stone lighter, she's the perfect weight to be 5ft 8

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,381 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

This new wan giving the advice in the pink coat looks like a banshee.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,381 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

With all the crying tonight most them will have already lost half a stone in water fat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 956 ✭✭✭GAAcailin

Burger (in a bun) and chips one of this weeks’ recipes - seriously 😳

  • Registered Users Posts: 827 ✭✭✭farmingquestion

Niamh Buffini, ginger....jaysus...she looked unreal at the weigh in.

Not liking the direction the show is going on. More like xfactor with the sob stories. It should be a show about losing weight.

Also only one fella this year and he's not even fat!

That's some mansion of a house the principal lives in. And her ma sold her house so a big wad in the back pocket. Thought they were going to talk about marriage problems when they showed the image of herself and the husband sitting at either end of the couch drinking wine. Usually the couples are shown snuggling on the couch. "life happens us too"....talk about seeing yourself above others...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,471 ✭✭✭Sunny Dayz

There's not a great variety in this year's contestants. Only one male. The women are all quite close in age and most have similar backgrounds (busy mother makes no time for herself).

  • Registered Users Posts: 827 ✭✭✭farmingquestion

They've never had a participant from what I remember where they were house sharing. They all live in their own houses.

House sharing is a massive struggle for diets. Your sharing a fridge/freezer with 3 or 4 others and you have no room for anything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,718 ✭✭✭Gusser09

Give me the biggest loser or my 600lb life amy day. Way more entertaining. Thats what we want these days. Not broadcasting community walks and half arsed attempts at people who arent all the over weight changing their habits.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,353 ✭✭✭Quitelife

Why is there 4 women and only one man on the show this year ?....and the one man isnt even very overweight ??

seems that some who are posting here did not actually watch the prog and or are not understanding its objective..

its called Operation Transformation - not just about wt - but overall health - metabolic age as a guide..

the 1 guy has CVD.. and has high fat content and dangerously distributed..

Marie will be interesting.. fair play to her - not seen any other small person on the show but i have not watched it every year..

I do think that there is too much emphasis on the sob stories though

not sure Sophie is right for the show

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,537 ✭✭✭✭road_high

I think the name of the show is wrong- transformation is a long process and you’d need at least 6 months to a year to achieve one.

Great to see someone with a disability on it and actually she was the one person that didn’t really dwell on a sob story despite really having one.

With some of them there’s often a distinct lack of “grateful for all I have” ie the school principal who like us all had difficulties in life but a bit of perspective lacking I felt. I think Eddie feeds into that and he’s not someone I would gel well with as a therapist

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,597 ✭✭✭baldbear

Think his cholesterol isn't great. He had a heart attack. They are trying to include people who aren't massively overweight but can still drop dead if they don't keep an eye on their health.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,353 ✭✭✭Quitelife

Fair enough re the bloke, but 4 women and only 1 man isnt very gender balanced, if it was the other way around , RTE be flooded with complaints.

mayb they chose the most appropriate from those who applied..

Jaysis, have people here not got eyes thinking the man doesn't look overweight - he looks well overweight and he's 14 stone 9lb at 1.67m....his BMI is 33 so he's not just overweight but obese - he needs to lose 2 stone just to get to the top of the normal range, never mind comfortably into the middle of the normal range to give some leeway.

I reckon this is a big reason why this country has such an obesity epidemic, people have lost track of what "normal" weight looks like!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,537 ✭✭✭✭road_high

There’s so many morbidly obese people about that overweight no longer looks as bad as it once did

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,978 ✭✭✭sporina

when I see 3 yr old kids wobbling around - thats when I really worry

  • Registered Users Posts: 827 ✭✭✭farmingquestion

Ah come on...he's got a bit of fat but calling him obese is ridiculous.

I would have similar fat on me if I was in the "normal" bmi bracket.

  • Registered Users Posts: 191 ✭✭weetiepie

?? yes I'm here to give my view of a show that takes advantage of vulnerable people for the purpose of making money. Disgusting
