I think just accept you were caught.

If they have you on the cameras there isn't alot you can do other than say that wasn't you and then they'll want someone to come forth and admit it was them speeding and take the points and fine.

Pay the €240, take the 3 points and then just keep an eye on the speed in future.

You'll also need to let your insurance know as well next renewal. They will likely know anyone upon renewal, but will look better by letting them know.

If it’s a Go Safe Van that got you then you’ve got issues. It was in Phibsboro ? You clearly weren’t paying attention if you didn’t see the big white van with stickers on it.

Just recently got rid of speeding points 'awarded' a few years ago... fully deserved.

From my experience, I would be more worried about the ongoing insurance cost than the fine.

Can't really argue with it, in view of life and limb etc., but I do wish they'd enforce the law on driving with a phone: it's probably a much greater source of danger to bikers.

100kph on the Phibsboro Road? That's a bit stupid in a built up area.

My mate contested one before. The speed limit sign was knocked and spun 90 degrees so you couldn't see it. I can't remember how he contested it

You should contest it in court OP. This defense will definitely work! I imagine the judge will call you a total ledgebag and you'll be carried out of the court on the shoulders of Gemma O'Doherty and John Waters

They don't need to duplicate the whole radar and camera unit in the front. The measurement is taken at the back of the van, afaik if they have rear facing camera pictures of you with radar approaching over the limit and can then match you to a front facing camera pic of your reg then you're done.

Read my post again. The detection area is the radar at the back, if you were speeding in that area it doesn't matter how slow you actually pass the van at
