Daily commute 2.5 hours - what to buy

Hi, I have just changed job and will have a round trip commute of 2.5 hours daily. I would like to buy diesel SUV type car and would appreciate idea's on what is best. Good seat is most important & prefer automatic...I will be doing some tyre kicking over the next few days/weeks and appreciate peoples thoughts. Thanks

I do daily 3 hours work commute.

I bought Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. Initially, seats were not so comfy but after few weeks body got used to it. I am on my second year now and clocked 55000 km, zero issues.

Volvo XC60 might be good .Seats are supposed to be top notch.

Volvo XC60 inscription model with thigh support and electric lumbar support has the best seats for any back related medical condition.

But I am not sure how reliable they are when over 3 years old, heard service cost is more expensive than BMW etc.

I guess Santa Fe doesn't come with extendable thigh rest. I wish my Tucson had a better thigh rest with 4 way lumbar support.

we have not bought yet - but GLC 4 matic is an option we are looking at - this is AMG but the test drive seems ok.

Why look for a car with a near impossible requirement,

One person would recommend another would be in pain with the same car,

How about getting the most economical car and getting a custom made seat or cushion type for you, something like this crowd

When you say 2.5 hours, what that in km's, a months driving in an EV or a longer range phev would pay for the expense of that particular one.

I see the same problem with people looking for a car to fit children's seats, spending 1000's to save the cost of buying a different child seat.

This mould will significantly reduce the resting area for thighs. I used one of them, back was ok but then legs got really tired. I looked at getting a whole new seat 💺 but it was like €2200 pre-covid.

Thanks - one thought we had is that being higher up you walk out of car rather than 'lift' yourself out & hopefully is easier on body. the driving distance is just under 90km each way with travel around 1.25 hours each way.

we have excluded EV for now as lots of the advertised savings can be disputed especially as electricity has spiked and they are relatively expensive v diesels we will wait a while until we see more ... but as a second car we will look at ev

VW Passat. Renault Captur has comfortable, supportive seats but legroom is a bit restricted because of the very wide centre console. Your left knee will be rubbing against it.
