Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

First 2 QFs tonight huge one between Newcastle and Leicester as its both clubs best chance of winning anything this season. Saint James Park will be packed and no doubt hopping for that.

Manchester Uniteds second string should have far too much for Charlton who are struggling badly in league 1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,022 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

City getting well beaten by Southampton here so far - second goal was especially hilarious, with the City keeper needlessly a mile off his line just asking to be lobbed, which he was.

Southampton playing really well, but it's also another sign of City not looking themselves this season in general play, but with Haaland insane goal return keeping the points rolling in. He's on the bench today, so have to wonder how long before they throw him on to do a rescue job.

Will be interesting to see if City make changes with the derby game this weekend, probably was thinking a lead or at least they would be level with 20 mins to go and then could introduce Haaland, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Silva, etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,022 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Three changes already, De Bruyne, Ake, and Akanji all on. Would expect Haaland on before long too.

The 2 legged semi finals definitely suits the better teams i.e Man Utd and Newcastle but it is a free hit for Forest and Southampton and I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one of them in the final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,114 ✭✭✭El Gato De Negocios

If it was a once off game I'd probably agree but over two legs, it's difficult to see either getting through. Anything is possible though so you never know.

They have to beat Newcastle and most probably Manchester United; two teams who are clearly much better than them. I don't see the value to be honest.

Next Man City manager: You lot may all be internationals and have won all the domestic honours there are to win under Pep. But as far as I'm concerned, the first thing you can do for me is to chuck all your medals and all your caps and all your pots and all your pans into the biggest **** dustbin you can find, because you've never won any of them fairly. You've done it all by bloody cheating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,117 ✭✭✭jacool

I also think that the facts that

    a) these are two-legged semi-finals and

    b) the "bigger" sides are at home for the second legs diminishes the chance of a shock result.

That Newcastle goal looked legit. Ruled out for handball I think. Replays don't show any handball. VAR hadn't the guts to change the on-field decision.

2 angles it looks like it hot an arm. There's nothing clear in any of the replays to overturn it.

The pope decision though. That's a shocker. That's a straight red + multi game ban

They couldn’t have allowed that Southampton goal after incorrectly ruling out the Newcastle one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,022 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Just another rule where they've so tied themselves up in knots that it's just become nonsensical.

  • Site Banned Posts: 20,685 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

They could have though. It wasn't an obvious error on the first and there were angles to suggest the ref may have been right.

The second one, the stupid handball rule comes into play. He didn't hit it in himself, so it should technically stand. Just like rashfords a few weeks ago.

Still baffled about the pope decision. It was a shocker. Should get a retrospective ban.

Can someone tell me why Manchester United are so big?

5/4 Manchester United 5/2 Draw 11/4 Newcastle United

    To lift trophy

3/5 Manchester United 6/4 Newcastle United

I can see that Newcastle are drawing their way out of the Champions League spots, but surely this is step 1 of "the comeback", no?

I think Man Utd are a great price at 5/4 tbh Newcastle have been very poor last few weeks and Man Utd are the form team in Europe at the moment.

  • Registered Users Posts: 258 ✭✭It is a Dunne Deal

Ten Hag at the mind games early clearly trying to put pressure on the referee here. His dinner with Fergie clearly went well.
