Could be, but you can also get mains powered ones. In any case the €20 cost quoted is probably way to high for modern LED lights. They'd probably use a fraction of that.

a lot of people not happy with Air to Water heat pumps, not a lot of experience if the trades with them and given some of the trades plumbing being the worst, not surprised there are problems

For me 2000s house most of my heating happens in the morning say getting it from 16 back to 18, a normal days sun or even overcast would typically keep it around there or raise it ( colder days/nights tend to be sunnier) and then its on in dribbs and drabs from say 4 to 8 at 18.

If its a cold night I might light the stove to keep downstairs at or around 20 with anywhere from 3 split logs to 8 in a 7kwh stove#

All depends on outside temps of course but its been a cold enough 2 months after a nice warm spell

3 bed terraced house, 2 adults 2 kids. Electricity was €81.12 for December. - 173 units at a 29c (after discount), standing charge is 76c a day. We have solar panels so that keeps the costs down a good bit, and we have really changed our habits in terms of usage since we had them installed.

Gas was €144 for November and December which was lower than expected (meter was read), but we have been careful with use and we've had a good bit done with insulation etc

You’re not tied into anything. I broke contract in September three weeks before it was due to finish to get on a good day night rate. 50 euro well spent.

4 bedroom house with b3 rating. Natural gas heating and smart thermostat is set 21c. 370 eur in Dec.

That can't be correct??? You'd rent a desk in a heated office/workspace place for a lot less.

Would that cover heating your house in the evenings too? And fuel to get there and back?

Theres two of us at home all day and we have gas combi boiler too that heats rads and water. Our latest bill was €160 odd euro, difference been we have it on morning and evening for few hours. I would have heart attack if that sort of bill landed on my doorstep.

Wholesale gas prices are back down to where they were near the start of the war so youd imagine there will be pressure to lower them

My electricity bill is €141 for Nov-Dec. On a D/N meter, and generally frugal with usage. Looks like my electricity for a year will be paid by others, €220 (Flogas cashback) + €600 (Govt credit)

94 year old mother just got her gas bill and is still in shock. Last bill was €271. This one was €681 😧. Heating is timed so no difference to last bill. New boiler fitted during the year. So angry at this blatant greed. Feel so sorry for those oap's who can't afford these bills and have to choose between heat and food.

If you were charged the price of electricity when gas went to $350, it would have been about €1 a unit.

Thankfully electricity generation companies but in advance at various stages and average it out.

Prices have fallen a lot since 3rd week of December and this will feed in over late spring and summer.

It's still almost 3 times the 2016-2021 average so don't expect dramatic reductions, but 25c a unit is plausible for autumn
