Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Caicedo looks a real player

Is he like this week in week out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,398 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Would love us to get Caicedo. Seems like Brighton would sell as well for the right price.

When the ref points for a goal kick it looks far too familiar to the gesture he wood do for a penalty.

Only a point separates the teams so you'd expect a fairly even contest. But for our invisible midfield, we'd be right in this.

Just when you think liverpool can't get any worse you see this first half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,504 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

It's unreal how easy it is for Brighton players to receive a pass, so much space, but if we make, a pass a Brighton player is on us instantly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,367 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

We're just a midtable team. That's what it looks like these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,414 ✭✭✭facehugger99

This is a tough watch. Hard to believe this team came with a whisker of the quadruple last year.

Top 4 this year looking more unlikely by the match.

Absolute shadow of the team of recent seasons

This is so, so frustrating! Salah gets a ball and 5 Brighton players hustle him, no support from any Liverpool player. 🤬🤬

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,698 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

In fairness to Ox, he's covering some ground. What he's doing half the time is anyone's guess, but he's popping up everywhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,398 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

We just look so leaden footed pretty much every game now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,698 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

    Well off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,750 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

    Aye looks off.

    All from another Matip moment

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,504 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Not even a penalty, but 2 foot offside, of course this is VAR

These decisions are taking way too long.

Chuck on Doak and Jimmy at HT please Jurgen. Take off whoever you like.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,439 ✭✭✭SM01

Put another body in midfield. Our 3 can't cope.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,398 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Matip having to mark Mitoma out on the wing because Trent is 30 yards up the field is not an optimal set up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,792 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

Really missing the pace of Nunez up front.

This is so hard to watch.

The problem with this team is obvious, we all know exactly what it is and yet nothing is being done to fix it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,750 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

Brighton must be absolutely disgusted not to be ahead at HT

    Only one winner now....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,414 ✭✭✭facehugger99

If Brighton were leading 3-0 at half time I don't think you could have any complaints. They could have scored 4 or 5. TBH.

No shot on target and wide open defensively.

It's a massive bonus to still be in this match at half time. Need to try and nick something in the second half.

We won't have any European football next year, beaten everywhere

    Depressing stuff here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,398 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

We definitely must be comfortably leading the league in occasions when 3 or 4 opposition attackers are bearing down on 2 of our defenders and keeper.

Fabinho putting on a master-class in turning over possession

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,202 ✭✭✭McFly85

The only positive is that it’s still 0-0.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,367 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

The agenda against Trent is incredible.

Gary Breen talking about subbing him off, as if he's the issue. If you can't see what the issue is (legs around the pitch), you should just stop watching.

Would not be against a complete clear out in midfield. They can all go.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,194 ✭✭✭Jarhead_Tendler

In fairness it's not a lack of effort from any of them. Too many just can't physically do it any more. Why Klopp hasn't tried to change things I don't know. Maybe we would be worse off with a different plan. The gaps in midfield when the ball inevitably breaks down is criminal.

Decision making has also sucked. Throwing out quick balls to midfielders facing their own goals and about to be swallowed up is one example. It won't be an easy fix anyway this season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,967 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

We had at least 3 goal kicks in that half that we'd already lost possession on before the broadcasters finished their close-ups on Alisson...the midfield can't retain possession to the point of it even being caught on camera and they still blame the defenders.

TBF, Mitoma is getting around/behind him nearly every time, I wouldn’t object if he was subbed off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,131 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

I'm not convinced by this 3-4-3 in Brighton's half. Trent & ox as wing backs is very weird. Thiago pushing up on their CBs when their keeper has the ball as a false 9. Not sure about it myself. Robbo hasn't crossed the half way line once, staying back as a LCB.

Klopp has played this before, but it was always Trent who stayed back as the RCB instead. And it seemed a bit more solid.

Mitoma is getting a lot of joy down the wing because there is no full back there, Trent taking the wing back name to the extreme, but he must have been told to. Mitoma very dangerous.

Actually think Gakpo & Ox were countering well for the first half of the first half, but that has petered out. Salah very poor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,799 ✭✭✭Ken Tucky

Klopp going mad I'd say at the midfield. Brighton on every Liverpool player as soon as a ball is played into them. The way we used to play..

Well boss if they can't do it they shouldn't be at the club. Hendo, Thiago and Fab..they are done.

And what the f*ck is Trent at..I can only think it's Klopps tactics but it's outrageous. That lad Mitoma needs to be boxed up not let rum at our CB who is covering our RB who is playing striker.

Is it too early to crack open a 🍻

I'd rather give European football a swerve next year if we can't get top 4. Between either needing more recovery time between league games, or more time on the training pitch, this team needs a serious break.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,306 ✭✭✭Widdensushi

Thiago anonymous, and I am a fan of his but gone missing today

Jenny Cunningham, Jesus can’t listen to him at all

He will get around Milner too because Brighton have so much time to ping balls from midfield

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,367 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

He's against him one on one constantly, and because we still try and push up, he's got acres of space behind him.

    Most RBs would struggle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,206 ✭✭✭fyfe79

Thiago has been a total non-entity in this game. Fabinho seemingly has license to give the ball away as much as he can and Hendo is at least trying but it's clear his legs have gone. Add TAA and Robbo still being asked to charge upfield, it's a recipe for multiple opposition attackers to overload our 2 centre-halves. Only a matter of time till Matip gets another injury as he's constantly being overworked with no protection.

Kenny Cunningham saying he's stealing a living during HT analysis.

Gakpo is to slow for the Prem to ever set it alight

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,194 ✭✭✭Jarhead_Tendler

He is been told to bomb forward. However when we lose the ball he is out of position and unlike years past when we had a hive of players swarming back now it is left to the rest of the back 3 to deal with 5 men running at them. Not sure why trent and robertson cant just sit for a few games and see does it at least help things

At least you gave him 1 and a half games to write him off. Good man

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,799 ✭✭✭Ken Tucky

100% we need to grind out results. Keeping a solid shape is paramount.

Total opposite of what we are witnessing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,131 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

He'll play centrally eventually I'd say. Up front with Nunez, but playing a bit deeper. Bobby didn't exactly have blistering pace himself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,724 ✭✭✭Cartman78

LFC commentary suggesting bringing Gomez on at RB and moving Trent into midfield 😬

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,206 ✭✭✭fyfe79

The irony of him saying that! Plenty of pundits stealing a living with their terrible calls and he's one of the biggest culprits.
