I wanted to play that for ages, sounded right up my street. Then it was added to PS and i played it for 10 minutes before uninstalling. It was so janky compared to Subnautica but i really should give it a proper go. Same with the Forest, i went to buy that multiple times but never did.

Edit: oh, The Forest is down to 6 euro on psn, might be worth a punt.

In my boredom and lack of things to play I signed up to Boosteroid streaming service. Playing God of War at the moment, gotta say it's pretty impressive, On Ultra settings and you would never tell I was streaming. They've got a decent selection of games, better than Geforce Now imo. It did start off as a pixelated stuttery mess but settled down after about 2 mins. I'm not sure if it will do that everytime you start up or if it was just some sort of optimization on my account. Anyway, its perfect now.

I started playing Everybody's Golf again. Lovely game to play.

Stranded deep I played in early access years ago. That was janky and the console version is worse. It was a great idea and I sunk hours into it but you hit a point where the survival becomes a chore rather than an experience.

I decided to finally try The Forest even though i read it's better in co-op, still sounds fun solo. Also, The sequel, Sons of the Forest is out in a few weeks on pc and looks great. Hopefully it will be getting a console release down the road. In the sequel, you start with an ai companion who you can give commands to like collect resources to take away some of the busy work. Very clever, but you can also just kill him if you want it truly solo.

So Boosteroid is really impressing me. They have a massive Glory to Ukraine banner on the website which I found a bit too in your face, but I just discovered they are based in Ukraine. Fair play to them keeping things ticking over. They have 4k servers rolling out but again, it's the Ukraine team rolling it out so they are obviously delayed. Otherwise this service would be a real game changer. If you were with Stadia and are looking for an alternative give this a try. Quality is not on par with stadia (until 4k arrives) but it makes up for it with the library, in particular they have all the Sony games and Elden Ring.

High on Life is such a good game but I am spending far too much time hunting down the chests. I do not know what is wrong with me in these type of games where there is collectibles that are well hidden but I have to get them all despite the amount of time it takes to hunt them.

The humour is great too. One human fella was stuck watching alien porn and says I do not know if I can go back to regular porn now. Another alien guy was on a tv saying he is the last of his species and he is looking for someone to have sex with and shows off his weird genitals and says if there is someone out there who can do it with me I'm looking to find you. And the films on the tv in your house I watched a bit of one and you see a naked chick with a great ass I must add.

I must admit, I always stop to watch Denise Richards dancing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,309 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

I do not know who that is. The film with the naked chick she is on the phone at the beginning and then she goes into the shower and see her great ass then she hops out and you see her front. I left the house came back into it to watch it again. Then I went off to do a mission or some such and was a little disappointed when I came back and it was later in the film went back out side to see if it will restart from the beginning and no it was at the same point.

Oh boy, showing my age. Im sure.youd recognise her, give her a google. She's in Tammy and the T-Rex on the TV in your house. The Alien dude on the couch is watching it. It also has a young Paul Walker.

    Spiderman Remastered

It's strange he can't crawl off the top of buildings, but can around the side of buildings. It's the same thing technically and graphically. You have to jump off and web back on, which ruins stealth a bit.

How'd they miss that, considering everything else they covered ?

Anyway nearly done with it. Will leave the DLC and Miles Morales for a long while. My Spidey senses are overloaded. 🕸️🕷️

You can sprint off the top and keep running downwards can't you?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,914 ✭✭✭SuperBowserWorld

Oh, thanks, will try that next time I boot it up.

Also, maybe I need to be clearer, there is no "down" button when you are perched at the edge of a building.

    Anyway not that important

I am almost certain you can do this, haven't played either of them since the PS5 launch though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,585 ✭✭✭✭Penn

I thought you could as well, but from Googling it seems you can't.

It does seem like it would be handy and maybe some way of doing it should have been included, but I have to admit I don't think it was something I really missed or noticed wasn't available.

With the last of us show now out, I'm itching to replay the first game again but I was holding out on another playthrough until i got the 'remake'. Looking around, it's 75-80 everywhere except Cex where it's sold out. Pity there isn't a rental service anymore or reliable swap option.

Also, I know Part 2 is very divisive but i think it would make for great telly, hope they decide to give it a go.

Part 2 would definitely translate well to TV. The game's biggest problem was the pacing of the gameplay and storytelling, but I think telling it through TV would greatly solve that. I wouldn't be surprised to see them do a season which occurs in the 5 years between Part 1 and 2 though, just to stretch it out a bit, let Bella Ramsey age up a bit more etc.

Great first episode of the show though. Absolutely nailed it, and amazing performances by all involved.

I'll wait until I can get the PS5 version with a deep discount.

I haven't played the game. Wondering should I watch the TV series or play the game first.

I mean part 2 was somewhat fun as a game. As a tv show it would be miserable. The story and characterisations is god awful. I think if they translate part 2 I'd be happy if they strayed a lot from the source.

They would likely need 2 seasons, at least, for Part 2.

    Mild TLOU2 spoliers

And probably go with overlapping stories instead of season 2 being Ellie and season 3 being Abby

Oh I thought the TV show was only on tonight at 2am, nice. Got to watch that once the kids are in bed.

I played the part 1 remake recently and even though I can't agree with the price, I can't argue with it being an amazing game either.

Haven't played the game, I'll probably get the PC version. It was a great first episode, at times my fingers were twitching to press RB + LB followed by X.

She's the brunette pilot in Starship Troopers.

Looks like Playstation has added a trial for The Last of Us Part 1 if you're looking to try it out. Only for PS Plus Premium members though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,845 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

    First episode was great.

Oh no, another must see TV show and must play video game. This time same content ! Will have to watch and play simultaneously to avoid any spoilers 🤣

It’s a confidently made, enjoyable, well-acted TV show… but like a hyper-literal adaptation of a book or an English-language remake of a foreign language film, I can’t help but feel the exercise is a tad redundant. The Last of Us is probably the single easiest game in the world to adapt, because it draws so heavily on TV and film references in the first place - to the point where most of the storytelling has zero interactivity.

It’s a relief they haven’t fucked the adaptation up, and in fact have done a pretty good job on it! Just a bit strange seeing a story I’ve already experienced relayed to me basically note-for-note and occasionally even shot-for-shot in a different medium (albeit with some added and extended scenes to flesh things out).

Which is only fair, as Part 2 is pretty much 2/maybe 3 games bolted together in an experience that doesn't know quite when to get off the roundabout.

Show's fun for the most part, happy Druckmann is finally getting it out of his system. Maybe Last of Us III will be a tight 10-12 hour experience again as a result.
