I wonder if that's an effort by Madrid to influence Bellingham. He will be in no doubt that at Liverpool he would be the long term core of the midfield. With Ceballos, Tchouameni, Valverde and Camavinga already present in their squad it's a more difficult argument for the representatives of Madrid to make. And with Tchouameni injured at present, offloading Camavinga isn't a realistic option in the current transfer window.

Last season Real Madrid were focused on signing Mbappe and didn't have the means to sign Tchouameni. During that period it was reported in the French media that representatives of Madrid had told Tchouameni that they had plans for a new French core to the team for the next decade with himself and Camavinga in midfield so that he wouldn't commit to signing for Liverpool or PSG.
