How to open a safe?

    Hi,

There is a safe at my home house. Our parents are deceased and left no code. We are selling the home house and need to sell the safe. I rang a locksmith and he was giving me instructions, turn it so far this way, then so far the other way, etc. I didn't catch all that he was saying. Is there a website or something describing what to do? Or the way to open it? We could probably put our heads together and come up with some possible codes if we knew what the default could was and how many digits a safe like this requires. Thanks

Could you not pay for a locksmith to come out?

Or try birthdays/ anniversaries dates etc

Locksmith said try the default but I can't recall what it is, otherwise him would have to drill it rendering it unsellable.

I really doubt that there is anything in it but it would be worth a decent bit if we had the code

Was a teacher for a very short time but if Enoch keeps going on as he will a lot more than what might be in it to pay the 700e a day fine that he is facing

What is the typical default code on safes like this? There would be a high chance that he didn't change it.

Typically 3 Numbers, turn left for first, turn right, for second, turn left for third

I was watching a video suggesting that. Is there a standard factory code? It's likely it was never changed.

No Default, is there a name on the safe? Do you have a stethoscope?

Check the underside of any drawers in the house

You need to hire a proper locksmith that can open this kind of safe. No point asking a bunch of people on the internet with an interest in DIY.

You could always ship it to the lock picking lawyer.

Do you think someone will pay you an extra grand because your safe is in working order?

No? Then drill it and leave it that way.

    6 left....45 right.....23 left.

    Or

    19 left.....5 right....8 left

    Dial to zero.

Anti clockwise, pass 1 twice, stop on third.

Then clockwise, pass 1 once stop on second.

Anti clockwise, stop on 1 , then clockwise till it clicks open.

If it doesn't open , just repeat , changing the 1s to random numbers until it opens.

If it's a 4 number combination then it might a little longer.

I'd be taking an angle grinder to the hinges, have a breaker bar and car jack on hand for additional support, open sesame.

Hate to break it to you the safes not worth much, looks like an old milner or similar they have NO insurance rating, Thats why alot of them went for scrap or larger ones were turned into gun cabinets

    Safe is maybe worth 200...

Could the code be in the will?

With summer, xmas, easter, mid-term, bank holidays, training days that teachers get - 700 a day is very manageable.

No point cutting the hinges. Unless the safe is of Argos quality the lock mechanism will have shooting bolts that go out into the frame.

If you want to preserve the door of the safe, then pull the safe out side, turn it onto its roof and get a fella with an oxy-acetylene torch or an angle grinder to cut a good sized hole in the base. Often they are double skinned, with a concrete infill between the skins. So then you cut out the outer layer, then break out the concrete with a kango, and cut the inner steel.

You can weld the cut sections back into place if you want to keep or sell the safe as an ornament.

Ultimately, I doubt there is anything in it. Usually these safes have fúck all in them, or just a load of old crap. The ones you see on youtube are all just staged setups.
