What format/what holes for a playoff?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,945 ✭✭✭The Big Easy

Don't think so, it's the smart play, putt for a win, playoff at worst.

    Sign of Rory's decision-making maturing?

What a way for Rory to win the tournament. Birdie birdie finish.

Happy Rory won, but really wanted that playoff from an entertainment perspective!

Boom, good man Rory, great play under pressure to see it out after seeing reed birdie the last, reed can stick his binoculars and his subpaoena, the LIV guys did well enough though be interesting to see their results when they play in front of larger crowds on dp tour/majors

    Clutch putt to win!

Interview was interesting for sure. Mentioned that he thought about going for the green from that lie!

Thankfully he thought about last year and trusted himself to get up and down.

Good man Rory! Hopefully Reed is sickened 😁

That sickened the hole off Reed nice and proper.

What a finish. That plucky win will be a massive confidence boost for Rory.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Had been hoping for an interview with Reed to see how gracious he'd have been in defeat. Didn't see a shake-hands from him but presumably he found the good grace to do that much.

I very much doubt it. Would've been more likely to serve McIlroy with legal papers for ignoring him than actually showing any dignity or class.

Not Rory's biggest fan but delighted he got the job done here, he is a great leader for the tour you can't take it away from him. Great guts to finish it off.

agree 100% the last two years his decision making, and concentration levels are now matching his undoubted talent. He's the clear number one now

Some golf after 6 weeks off. To come in to a good field and finish it off, an no doubt he's thinking PGA very LIV and Reed at the end, superb.

Rory may just do mega things this year. Even when he doesn't bring his best he challenges.

    I hope Reed is sickened.

Delighted for Rory, but really pissed off with Sky Sports. I recorded the program and watched it when I got up. Rory had just hit his drive on the 18th and Reed was about to take his putt from the back of the 18th green when the recording finished! I couldn’t believe it! Went back onto Sky Sports just in time to see Rory being photographed with the trophy. What the hell couldn’t they have extended the program to show the finish?

Somebody will post in this thread questioning his bottle to only win by 1 when he started with a big lead

From memory this brings him level with Paddy on DP Tour wins

Big win in the circumstances and with his B game so that's impressive, himself and Rahm could have some tussle this year.

You could argue that the majors are even more interesting this season with the added LIV factor.

They're both almost playing for their tours as well as themselves, as it'll be huge for either tour to win the majors.

PGA Tour really need a clean sweep of them. Any LIV win would be quite damaging you'd imagine from a prestige perspective and I'd say they can't quite contemplate the unthinkable of LIV winning the most or heaven forbid sweeping the board!

If you were a conspiracy theorist you could argue that this whole conflict could increase interest in golf/majors and increase the profile of the big name players on both tours.

Interesting season ahead either way, which is all we want form a viewing perspective anyway 😃
