It's flying at 100,000 ft it's not so easy to shoot down even with jets

A patriot missle should be able to get close at 70,000ft but after that it has no hope of hitting it if it's above that range , most jets have a max ceiling of 60,000 ft

I'm sure they have something in the arsenal we don't know about that could hit it ,

But if they did take it down the Chinese might decide it's open season on US aircraft operating from south Korea, Japan or the Philippines,Guam ,

It's not as if the US hasn't flown over China before

What was the story during the week an American general expects open conflict by 2025 with china,this is where tit for tat could escalate very quickly,

Judging by the photos it doesn't look like it has particularly high altitude, unless it's a massive balloon or the photos are zoomed in.

Anyway, it seems strange to me as a policy to 'let it go'. Not sure if that's the case yet but it does make the US look weak if that is the policy.

The Chinese don't have spy aircraft capable of flying across America undetected,they have been using these balloons for years, currently no aircraft can fly for days at 100,000-150,000 ft unlike the giant balloon

I love how on flightradar it's been marked as Not a Chinese balloon says it at an altitude of 61,000ft the maximum flight radar 24 can track is 65,000 ft this balloon is upwards of 100,000-150,000 ft

Just the USA causing trouble. Individuals (Amateur Radio enthusiasts) have sent balloons with radio beacons and cameras around the world.

i think it has bit more tech than that - if it was the case I think China would be apologizing and saying take it out if ye want - and would have let the US know in advance that it was coming.

what’s the normal size weather ballon? And do they usually have the huge ridged structure under them?

The Americans should send up their own balloon to hover just below it and block its view, and just claim its lost control and cannot control where it goes,
