Interesting to see sexton taking two penalties instead of kicking to touch when we would Gavin in the past. It’s real keep the foot on the welsh throat stuff

    56 behind O'Gara now.

Is this why Ireland are kicking penalties?

This is fcuking ridiculous - how has there not been a warning or a card. Bizarre at this point.

I know first game but referee needs to be thinking yellow soon

Wales have just been dumb today. They were penalised for using hands at the ruck already and Adam Beard goes and does it again a few minutes later.

Who is the Irish commentator on bbc? Donnacha Callaghan?

Wales have made 103 tackles after 34 minutes. That sort of defensive effort isn't sustainable, especially when your tackles aren't actually stopping Ireland on the gain line. They're losing the physical battle, tiring out and but getting any sort of psychological boost from keeping the opposition scoreless.

They desperately need some sort of sustained possession and territory.

Purely to pin down the Welsh. Without the kicks they'd be back in it with two converted tries; as it stands now they need four and the kicks to lead.

Doubt it penalties are best way to go most of the time. I mean for Irelands second try it would have been an easy decision to go for 3 but ran it

Thanks wasn’t sure if it was him or not. He’s being more restrained/serious than he often can be.

That's a spectacular tackle from Porter.

Why is POM not jumping at the front of a defensive lineout??????

Wales nearly turned us over after a lead like this in Cardiff before - the Zebo flick match. Not getting excited yet.

Andrew Porter what a hero holding that ball up

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,979 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

And this is why we need 100% for the whole game not saying Wales will win but points difference will go way down

Incredible defence to hold that up. That's 2 certain tries stopped.

So he's set for the maul defence, you loose momentum with 3 players if you put someone up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

You don't jump every time. Making an attempt to compete in a lineout wrecks your defensive maul. If the opposition goes for a maul the defender having jumped is usually worth 10 meters on average.

You pick your jumps for moments you think you have them figured out and think you can get a steal.

Hope we don't rue that Porter tackle

Eh, you can't jump over a player, right? Surely that's the first infringement.

3 first half tries scored, Sexton kicking well, we look very sharp.

Ridiculous amounts of penalties given away by Wales, their ball carrying skills are sloppy all round.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,172 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Sheehan should have kicked that out of play.

Few mistakes crept into our play in the final 10 minutes, but that's an excellent first half.

    Welsh crowd are horrible!

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,586 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

Gatland must be wondering if he should have stayed retired

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,771 ✭✭✭CMcsporty

Total capitulation by Wales here in the face of excellence

What has Gatland been doing with them since he took over?!!!!!?

no discipline. no fight. no organisation. no creativity. no patience.

wru have no choice but to get rid of Gatland and reinstate Pivac!!!

shambles of a team and a union

I hope Ireland tack up a record score on them
