DGW 23 Transfer Thread

The regular one week turnaround time for this GW, and into another DGW - this time for Man City & Arsenal.

Both teams have a fixture in BGW 25, so I think that both teams will be attractive to prospective owners in the medium term also, especially with Arsenal definitely having a game in 28 also.

I might move early on a transfer this week as I have Almiron at a nice price point so I want to bank the 0.2 there. I was going to go with Nekitah, but Gabriel Jesus returned to (some sort of) during the week. GW28 is 6 weeks away yet so he could be starting for Arsenal by then. Man City have CL games coming up too, nestled around those attractive looking Bournemouth & Forest fixtures. Their result tomorrow against Spurs could dictate what happens - win that game and the league is back within their grasp. Draw/Lose and the CL is their main priority again.

Must have a right look at the DGW scenarios.

Urgently need to get rid of Alison but it might have to wait

I think that's very simplistic there is a long way to go. If City win every game until rest of the season they are champions, so Pep will be pushing that. I would have more confidence in city doing that, than Arsenal going on a major run - losing to Everton today was poor and some of their players are looking as if they are running out of steam. Martinelli hasn't scored in the last 4 games, Saka only has 1 goal and likewise Odegaard. Needing a goal Aretha took two of them off today, something he wouldn't have done 5/6 GW's ago.

I think 3 City players are a must, and only because most have 3 Arsenal they will have them this GW, but going forward I think better options will emerge - the likes of Maddison back and scoring.

By time GW25 rocks around, City could be top.

    Either Bruno to KDB/Mahrez.

Or, I keep Bruno and do March to Mahrez.

If I do the latter, I can bring in Mitoma after his blank.

Anyone thinking of bench boost this week? I’m thinking of a -4 that will leave me with a bench of Kepa, Shaw, Botman, Mirtovic. I’d nearly be glad to have it played and not be working my team too much around it in future.

Finding it very hard to bench either Mitoma or Mitro home to Forest if I don’t play it

    Almiron to one of Saka/Odegard.

Bad few fixtures and a blank for Almiron, and poor form makes him an easy decision to drop.

Arsenal with the DGW and a game in GW25.

if they didn’t gave DGW, would their form warrant getting them?

Probably Bruno to KDB/Mahrez with BGW25 in mind or might out Miggy

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,678 Mod ✭✭✭✭F1ngers

Think I'll do Bruno to Mahrez instead of KdB, one thing to have 7.7m benched as opposed to 12.5m and spread the funds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,415 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Was extremely tempted to do Almiron -> Mahrez last night, to catch Almiron before his price drop.

I didn't do it and was rueing it all day, until Mahrez was hooked pre-60 in today's game and throws doubt over his nailed-ness now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,469 ✭✭✭Shedite27

    Versus Almiron? Probably.

No other alternatives really, Have 3 City, and United, don't want Liverpool or Chelsea. Arsenal lads are better than Bowen or JWP IMO

I get there are few alternatives, but dunno if that's a decent reason to bring them in - likes of Maddison back after injury and amongst the goals. Wouldn't be touching Pool or Chelsea until form changes, and even then Chelsea have so many players who knows who will play week to week. The thing with Bowen/JWP it's easier to bench them, whereas you kinda have to play the Arsenal lads in every game - even hard to play one and bench one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,469 ✭✭✭Shedite27

Well we have to play 11. I'll be getting one of the Arsenal boys

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,415 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

I'm very surprised that Fernandes did not rise more than 0.1 since GW 21.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,640 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

Saka 26, Odegard 31 and Nketiah 26 over the last 5 GWs, they are decent returns. Martinelli is lagging behind

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,746 ✭✭✭dr.kenneth noisewater

    Martial to Nketiah (finally)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,860 ✭✭✭✭extra gravy

I'm not sure how they're in bad form? They've been pretty consistent lately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,951 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

Using the form guide on FF, they aren't even in the top 10. Mitoma, March, Bruno, Marhez and even Buendia are all beating them on from - so while they may be decent, they aren't by all means firing in all cylinders like they were before. Johnson at Forrest on fire - but you would do well to find anyone here with him despite the hot from. Even Watkins has better form than Nketiah. So again if they didn't have the DGW would you say they are a must to get in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,595 ✭✭✭macraignil

Don't use the form guide on FF but just looked there at Arsenal's results so far this season and it is only two games now that they have not scored in. They just scored three against Man.Utd. who are third in the league in the game before meeting an Everton with the new manager bounce and the only other blank was against Newcastle who have the best defensive record in the league. I'm not saying they are must haves but taking a chance myself on getting some returns from Odegaard, Saka and Nketiah over the next few weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,640 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

They're the best players on the best team in the league. They now have a second DGW along with a match in 28.

Some random players will definitely outscore them over the that period but you go with the odds. Three Arsenal is essential over that period, Saka is probably captain for two of those weeks, 25 & 26

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,099 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

I'm thinking of using my final WC this week. Three of my fifteen won't play, and others have upcoming blanks. More to the point, I've been a bit too passive since the World Cup and my overall rank has dropped accordingly. It might be time to have a go.

Any advice here? Just the one transfer, just feeling brain dead.

    Happy with the back.

Would swap Martinelli out, but for the DGW,

    Happy enough at the front.

Another Arsenal player for the double? If you are happy with the team bank the transfer and use it next week to prepare for GW25. You have a lot of players who will blank there including both your keepers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,074 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

    What's happening with GW25? There's still 10 games listed...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,099 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

But not all 20 teams are involved - some blank, some have doubles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,074 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

Appreciate the helps from both of you. Been super busy with work, so missed this

Went with a -4 this week for

    March - Saka

    Sanchez - Sa

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,815 ✭✭✭bantee

Thinking a -4 too, can't fund it without offloading Trippier before the Bournemouth game which could be madness:

Trippier & Martinelli to Ake & Saka.

Will have 3 City and 3 Arsenal for the double then with Saka guaranteed more minutes than Martinelli, hard not to pull trigger on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,415 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

    TBF Trippier's fixtures are

    Bournemouth

    Liverpool

    Blank

    Man City

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,860 ✭✭✭✭extra gravy

Was considering Martinelli to Odegaard but with fts precious now, it feels like a sideways move. Don't think Martinelli will lose his place but it's the potential early subs for Trossard that are the danger. Other option is to sell him and get Nketiah instead.

He normally reappears around Easter time 😉

Fwiw FotMob have him back in mid March

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,415 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

There's a bit of a gap between GW26 & GW27. I wonder if it will be around then?

Which would suggest potentially 6 or 7 more starts for Nekitah.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,640 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

Getting Salah for 25 is going to be tough if you have Kane. If I get a City mid I'll want them for 25 to make up the 11 for that week, its pushing me towards Grealish for this week, not in love with it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,074 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

Why would you go near Salah? He's atrocious this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,640 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

Because hes still Salah, capable of double digits, good fixtures and his underlying stats are pretty much the same as last year so he should revert to the mean

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,746 ✭✭✭dr.kenneth noisewater

Think its the team rather than him that's the issue, unless they start playing better he wont score big imo. At least we have a couple of GW to see if they can improve

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,074 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

He's 10th in midfielders in total scores, he costs £12.7m, he has a form score of 2.3 (the lowest of the top 10), he's had 4 double digit scores out of 20 weeks(10,12,15&12).

He's owned by 22% of players, so you're definitely not on your own, but I think he is presenting a very low rate of return for the cost outlay. If you had him from the start, he's cost you . 3m already. Saying that, I don't know how much more in price he could fall. I'd need to see consecutive gw's in double figures to take him back in.

Whenever I've watched Pool this season, Salah seems to be playing extremely wide, nearly hugging the touchline. I think Mane's departure really affected his play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,469 ✭✭✭Shedite27

I like Salah as a differential at this stage, if you're chasing a lead he's a nice punt. Definitely on my radar

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,602 ✭✭✭patmac

So it’s Either Bruno to Mahrez for -4 or Bruno/Robbo to KDB/4.8m defender for -8.

Robbo has the double but was unbelievably poor against Wolves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,074 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

I'm not being funny, but he's owned by 22%. Surely that's a bit high for a differential?

I am probably discounting that he was probably in a lot of abandoned teams from week 1.

Just be aware that Liverpool may blank in GW 28.

Also, Gomez should be starting the next few GWs, while VVD & Konate are still injured but VVD is close to a return which will shore things up again. Liverpool been a mess since he has been injured. He picked up that injury during GW 19, on the back of 4 league wins in a row. They haven't won since.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

Bruno -> Saka is a bit of a no brainer assuming nothing crops up in the pressers? Have Martinelli and Zinchenko already. Odegaard is cheaper and if I had extra transfers I'd do Martinelli to Odegaard, but Saka is the most explosive option?

I'd need a -4 and some other transfer with +1.0 to get Gnonto to Nketiah otherwise.

    Kepa (Ward)

Trippier - Burn - Shaw - Zinchenko (Bueno)

    KDB - Rashford - Marti - Bruno - (Andreas)

    Kane - Haaland - (Gnonto)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,640 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

    That's a very misleading figure. 3.5% ownership in top 10k, 8.3% in top 1m.

You're buying the potential. Four double digits hauls this season, that compares with Saka 1; KDB 3; Rashford 5; Odegard 6; Martinelli 3. Its the 12 blanks that are killing him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,746 ✭✭✭dr.kenneth noisewater

Anyone think its worth a -4 to do Martinelli to Odegard?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,698 ✭✭✭sheroman01

I think so yeah. 2 doubles in the next 3 GWs, it kinda pays for itself. It's a good long term move. I'm torn between Saka and Odegaard myself, but also considering a hit. Only think putting me off it right now is that Arsenal's fixtures aren't exactly amazing for this DGW.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,698 ✭✭✭sheroman01

I can do a safe transfer of Bruno to KDB.

There is also another fun option of March to Mahrez and Martinelli to Saka/Odegaard for a -4.

I think I'll opt for the safe option sadly, as it looks like KDB will most likely play both games in the double. Can still do a -4 for Saka/Odegaard too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,074 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

I'm so wary of having Arsenal players in for the next 8 weeks. I have 3 at the moment, but I am wondering was last week's defeat to Everton the start of the annual Spring decline that they have suffered from for years?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,415 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

I would ask what the other transfer is too? Painting it as the double transfer can sometimes make a bigger picture where it is a definite move.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,415 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

I think that was just Dyche tbh.

But saying that, Brentford are currently the form team in the league, and Man City is the top of the table clash. 2 tough games coming up.

5 games in 3 GWs though. Arsenal won't have any other games in other comps in that time frame either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,352 ✭✭✭✭Father Hernandez

1 FT this week and think I'll bank.

My Arsenal doublers are White (wary of gametime) and Nketiah.

City doublers are Haaland (C), KDB & Mahrez. The latter two have high ceilings but not confident.

Could look at Mahrez to Odegaard/Saka but it's very sideways.

Think I'd rather 2 FT's the following week.

    Team is

    Kepa

    Shaw, Trippier, White

Almiron (been meaning to take out but Bournemouth away looks great on paper), KDB, Mahrez, Rashford

    Nketiah, Haaland, Kane

    Subs: Ward, Martinez, Bueno, Andreas.

Honestly don't think anything stands out too much to make any transfers.
