This sounds like something embarrassing you'd ask at the counter that you try to hide it by less embarrassing things "some CONDOMS....PORN MAG.....LUBE....*whispers under breath* Hogwarts Legacy....

    Anyway, game looks class.

    Exactly.

Good luck getting anyone to criticize "the community" though.

They are copying the Gamergate playbook to the letter and nobody really seems to care.

Lol same as myself. Just got done with the intro, made it to Hog and chose my house, saved and exited. Voice acting is very good so far I thought, looks well and the combat is suprisingly satisfying (even though I've only a single attack spell at this point). Looking forward to getting stuck back in tomorrow night.

Oh and there is a FOV slider in the PC version which is handy.

People getting their knickers in a twist that don't want politics involved in this game I've bad news. The association with jk rowling makes this political. She made it this way and if you want to engage in the online discourse then you are just going to have to put up with it.

Any chance this particular thread can be kept to a discussion about the actual game itself?

But why? Why engage? Why waste our time bickering about Twitter rubbish that's going to go in infinite circles when we could, you know, be playing and talking about games?

Maybe a thread for both discussions might do it?

I'm really surprised with how much I enjoyed it last night so am happy to continue discussing my actual playthrough. Going to get stuck back in this evening :)

Same here. Which house did you go with? I chose Ravenclaw, just because it was blue. 😂 Don't think it makes a huge difference from what I've heard anyway.

My missus started it too last night and I was told under no uncertain terms that I must join her in Slytherin 😁

You playing with a keyboard and mouse or a controller actually? Herself is Keyboard and mouse but I've found since getting back into PC games I've been going with a controller more and more lately.

Haha fair enough - I've seen the films but honestly don't have much of a clue about this universe - this is a more chill action rpg for me. Using a PS5 controller with DSX (although I don't think that's needed at all) - find it more comfortable for this type of game.

Can our glorious Games Cat mod split out the discussion into two threads please?

    'Hogwarts Legacy: Gaming Discussion'

    'Hogwarts Legacy: Controversy Discussion'

That way us folks who have no interest in Twitter wars and all the rest can discuss the game in peace.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,408 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

The discussion here is fine for now and if you look back the majority of the political discussion has been kicked off by people saying they don't want to hear about it and making an issue out of it. If there's something people don't want to discuss don't kick the hornets nest.

I had a look back and 43 out of the total 110 posts so far in this thread are about the controversy surrounding Rowling and not the actual game itself. Almost half.

If you can keep the nonsense out though fair enough, sure we'll see how it goes!

    Ha that's brilliant!

Can we please have two seperate threads for all this bollocks. Do see a couple of posts and think it's about gameplay then come in and see a load of arguing.

Anyways I'm enjoying the game, only played a couple of hours, got put into Gryffindor. I've two classes done and went to Hogsmede, looking forward to giving it a bash again later.

+1 for separate threads please. There's clearly a discussion to be had by those who want to regarding the whole controversy side of this game. Conversely, there's clearly a number of people who want to just talk about the gameplay without wading through umpteen political posts to do so.

Can someone tell me what the experience is like on PC? Bugs/visuals etc like does it stack up?

Digital foundry might have something up soon. Apparently it runs well on steam deck on lowest at 30 fps and some help from fsr.

I'm not sure if Eurogamer are ignoring the game so might not have a DF look at it.

Hardware Unboxed have tweeted about it. Seems VRAM may be an issue in certain circumstances, but haven't looked into it too much yet.

People purposely posting spoilers now since the boycotts didn't work.

Played a bit today, still haven't got much of the main quests done due to been sidetracked with all the other quests and exploring, flying class next...

Played up til the Sorting and saved for the evening. Loving it so far, feels amazing to play and looks stunning. My Mrs is absolutely buzzing to get stuck into this but she admits is terrible at games, the "story" difficulty setting is hopefully up her alley.

Unfortunately had a major spoiler for me on a completely unrelated Reddit thread. People be d!cks yo 😔

No one listening to the vocal minority so they resort to that . Parasites .

I never liked Jk or the movies really but I'm enjoying this . Suprised how good it is tbh .

Played a few hours this evening, went to the first location outside of the castle and back, level 9 now. Great fun it is - main and side quests. The transmog feature is fantastic, loving how many variations of clothing there are so far.

If you pick a male character from the start can you change them to female later?

    @TitianGerm No comment... 😁

For anyone running this on PC and finding the image a bit blurry or washed out, try the following settings in your Display Options to make it sharper:

    I also have these settings:

A few YT videos have mentioned bad stuttering issues and recommend adding the HogwartsLegacy.exe to your Windows Exploit Protection program settings - just add a program by exact path and locate the exe. There's a setting called Control flow guard (CFG) - tick override system settings and turn it off - reboot your PC. I've only encountered a bit of stuttering twice so far so hasn't been a real issue for me, but might be worth a shot if anyone is having problems with it.
