    What was the pay rise again? Was it £1800 or £1900?

    £24,780 starting salary + £1800 pay rise + £3,492 NITA. Not bad for starting off as a probationary officer.

    Police staff recruitment freeze went long, they’re now hiring call handlers.

    Obviously anecdotal but was speaking to a Sergeant today, they said there’s no way they can’t recruit this year as officers are “dropping like flies.”

    Hopefully a bit of clarity next month in advance of budget - my optimistic guess is that they’ll start processing the first 100 or so.

    Still a good few waiting in 2020 campaign tho. Hopefully new financial year will see some progress.

    I applied for a Police staff role, ASO back in 2021 and I'm still waiting.


    I passed all the checks in October & was told I was appointable, but that there was a recruitment freeze so no offers being made at present.


    I've been keeping an eye on these threads hoping that if it's good news for you guys, it might be for us too.

    Just disheartening 🥺

    Bound to be at least August now for the start of our campaign to even start G.V. Hoping the vetting forms and fitness would even start soon.

    But yeah at least the wage now has a significant boost! I'm not on a huge amount more that that to be honest, which is pretty good for starting at the bottom of the scale!

    There will be a small intake in April and no others currently planned. A normal intake is 50 so let's assume 25.

    There are 155 waiting in the 2020 campaign. Given that the PSNI managed stages can take a year, I think we're now looking at 2024 start dates for those at the top of the 2021 merit list

    Yeah definitely. They used the term small cohort about the circa 10 in January so it would even be as small as that. If they take a break over 12th it could be still be less than 50 by September. I think you could still be seeing 2020 candidates into January if it continues at this pace. Very disheartening.

    even Though it’s a small number, I think today’s new is positive nevertheless. It shows that they are going to continue to recruit.

    lets hope it continues and they can soon start processing 2021 merit list

    Remember seeing somewhere in a thread about start dates likely to be in 2025 for our campaign and by the looks of it seems like it but there is always hope that it's sooner once we start seeing vetting is when we'll have a decent time frame
