Carpenter rate

Hi, What would the hourly rate be for a self employed carpenter be? A legit one, fully insured/VAT etc etc. In Cork City subbing to construction companies.

150 - 250 euro a day depending on type of work

If subbing directly off the main Contractor Approx €30 per hour if subbing of a Carpentry Sub-contractor approx €23 per hour that is if you can get working to an hourly rate but in reality most job are priced on a lump sum basis (1/2/3 fix plus felt & Battens) or on a house by house basis if the work is residential.

Hows it goin,

Thinking of starting a carpentry apprenticeship once I come home (been living in Canada for the last 3 years), and want to know what the pay is like for a first year / what can you earn once you set up on your own etc

Bit of background: Been roofing (shingling, not much slate work) but I think getting fully qualified in carpentry is a better option long term and a bit more broad in terms of custom work/renovations/furniture making etc.

Being on big messy construction sites isnt really my cup of tea anymore, I wouldnt want to be doin that passed 30 if you get me

Which companies are doing this sort of work in dublin? What do they pay their guys?
