New car registration issue

The only issue is that you might really want a reg plate with your home county on it, no issues otherwise. I'm one of those poeple who will only drive a D reg car, so if a dealer ended up sticking anything other than that on it I'd be telling them to do one.

Where did the wrong address come from, was it one you supplied? If it wasn't one you supplied I can't see how it has happened, are you sure the car isn't registered to someone else already who perhaps pulled out of the deal and they are trying to cover it up?

You may think that but all things being equal most buyers prefer their own county or Dublin.

Maybe they are all fools but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

For myself I always go by the actual car I will be driving because I consider that more important.

We de-registered a few cars over the years, one reg was "666", another was "13" but the customer wouldn't take that number and one registration with the wrong County on it. Took a few days to do it

Only a fool wouldn't consider the potential wear and tear on a car that spent the first years of its life in a rural county with shyt rural roads.

Only a fool would believe that a D reg means it hasn't lived on **** roads for the first years of it's life.

A dealer I bought from has an office or at least a mailing address to facilitate a D reg. It was suggested to me, more than once that I might like one.

I think they believe it's easier to move a 2nd hand with a D reg , particularly the so called premium brands

It's an absolute myth, what is not a myth is that a clutch in a city car will have seen more actuations, any diesel with a DPF will be worse off from being stuck in stop start traffic for its life, another myth is that Dublin roads are better, not in the city they are not, they are atrocious.

I've a friend in Monaghan who's daily commute is N2 - N33 - M1 that car will be substantially less nackered than an equivalent one with a fraction of the mileage that's been tootling about bumping over speed ramps and tram lines in Dublin, but oooh country reg run away quick.
