Wobbly wheel

What's a normal reason for a wheel on a vintage tractor to go wobbly?

I have a fordson major and the rear left wheel is fairly weaving in and out on the roads. I'm confident enough that the rim isn't bent, so what should I check.

Probably a bulge on the tyre.

No noticeable bulge on the tyre, the wobble is very bad, seemingly a difference of 10cm in and out weaving when moving

Have you an implement on the back with the check chains not tight?

After that, Jack up back wheel and feel for play in hub.

Its usually a bent rim.

Taken them off and on, also got new nuts, doesn't seem to help

Perhaps Swap the wheels to make sure it's not hub related, then maybe swap the rims and tyres to each other to narrow down tyre or rim problem.

Could it be that the bolts that hold the wheel to the rim need adjusted?

Jack up the axle on that side. Rotate the wheel by hand and mark the hub and wheel/tyre where it moves out the most. Rotate the wheel on the hub by 180 deg (even no of nuts) or closest (uneven no of nuts). Check where greatest outward movement is then. If the same place on the hub, then hub is out. Hope this makes sense.

Easier than swopping the wheels.
