Regarding Kerry, I was wondering why the normally vocal Healy-Raes have been keeping so quiet, until I read that they are in on the con. Our treacherous politicians all have personal motives in keeping this charade going.

At any stage where they publicize an "acute shortage" of accommodation, a few days later they come out and say they have "managed" to locate beds, and that they are throwing more millions at the problem. They are so feckless and incompetent they can't even keep to a single narrative. So the current message is; yeah, things are tight, but hey, we're desperate to have you, and beds are on their way---so keep coming lads!

I think it's been mentioned before but it's worth restating - all the expensive projects Ireland has pursued be it Dublin metro link or the new children's hospital that balloon way out of control at least you get something at the end out of it.

You get a new a new hospital. You get a new train service.

The money being ploughed into this project is actually going to decrease our living standards and make Ireland a worse place to live (despite the claims most migrants are doctors and engineers).

I pine for the days when the biggest outrage was the cost of the M50 toll bridge.

I’m honestly questioning the sanity of this administration. Any logical person knows that when they’ve created a mess, they move into damage limitation mode to mitigate against further negative outcomes. First do no harm and all that.

Perversely, this government is leaning into their own incompetence, intensifying the manufactured crisis that one of their own, engendered. All of this is of course financed by the toil of the Irish taxpayers. This means that the number of ‘lads’, and let’s be clear, IPAs are mostly men, will continue arriving in this country at inordinately high levels.

The lunatics truly are running the asylum in this country, cheerlead by their band of merry assistants in the media and NGO complex.

You have replied to a post about an asylum seeker who has built up a considerable criminal record in a short time and is now gone to prison here in Ireland again.

Yet you have completely side stepped mentioning anything about the post you replied to.

    Why?

That's Sweden for you. A crazy place where 35 year old men shout Allah Akbar as they stab a 10 year old child on the street.

Why would you be surprised at how they might report

Very true but again lot of these were foreign nationals too

Feels like I have to scrape sweden off my shoe. Some rep now

How we ended up in a situation where our government is so fixated on housing illegal immigrants that it's using our taxes to outbid us in an already crowded housing market is completely beyond me.

While passing sentence Nolan said he seems like “a very pleasant man”.

Because nothing in the reporting confirms his status as asylum seeker and he’s been living there since at least 2015

  • Registered Users Posts: 82,375 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

This isn’t a thread about a zero foreign nationals policy.

I wonder will we ever see a day when our "left" sees the light like this Swed eventually did, because Ireland is heading in the exact same direction.

This is honestly a great thread, but sadly the ones who need to hear it the most are the ones who'll be the first to block their ears.

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

I was that guy. Albeit in a previous century, our borders weren’t under threat however like we are under siege now have to be able to adapt; to change your spots to retain those same freedoms. The terminology like most things now turned on their heads it may have bn subject to some form of switcheroo in order to confuse but I retain the same principles

-you remain naively resiliently headstrong and rooted in one label regardless it’s no good for anyone must display a maturity, a malleability. A willingness to step down and concede I was wrong; or duped in this case and move on they want you to believe up is now down and left is right. Don’t buy it. Adapt and overcome

We have a literal road map for where we are headed and can see that this is a disaster yet we plough ahead because you don't dare challenge the woke cause. It's our job to save the world by letting them enrich our terrible racist cultures

A willingness to step down and concede I was wrong

What seems to be an even stronger force that motivates their delusions is the inability to admit that their "stupid, unhinged" political rivals were actually right all long. Most of them are literally incapable of it. They are smart, wise and worldly people in their minds, and they could never lower themselves to share a view with the plebs. Believing in endless immigration is "sophisticated" position, one that must be held tightly no matter what reality says. They are essentially willing to burn society to ground in the name of protecting their egos and their status.

    @Overheal

Surely a condition of being sheltered and supported by a country is you won't become a burden.

Someone who has racked up 29 criminal convictions is a burden.

Why was he not deported after the first few.

His cost of incarnation is a burden too.

    Would you agree?

  • Registered Users Posts: 82,375 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

Again, that's a conversation to take up with the Swedish state department, not I.

Nor do I find it a better solution for example, the USA deported MAVNI veterans (noncitizens serving in crucial roles like interpreters, specialisms, etc), sometimes for single convictions. https://immigrationimpact.com/2021/07/08/deported-immigrant-veterans-biden/

Not being an expert or even all that familiar with Swedish law and custom I can only suggest they're not considering deporting the reportedly Iranian national.

Thats a shocking video doing the rounds over on Twitter where a girl is flattened on the street by two black guys in Limerick, you can hear them say there are too many crackers in the place just before one of them hits her.

Male-on-female violence is a serious issue in Ireland (most societies) what the colour of one's skin has to do with it, I don't know, but you seem to think it's pertinent and in that regard what do you think of the multitude of white guys who rape and beat women every day in this country?

  • Registered Users Posts: 715 ✭✭✭Mac_Lad71

    Whataboutery.

Plus he was heard to use the word cracker which is a racially derogatory term used by black people to describe white people.

It is derived from the term whip cracker.

If a white guy used the n word before punching a black woman would you say the colour of his skin was pertinent?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,427 ✭✭✭batman_oh

Reverse it to white guy decking black girl while using racial slurs and watch how every media outlet and liberal mouthpiece gives the whole country a shaming lesson about how racist and sexist we are

At some point in the future. The EU will be forced to rewrite its policy on immigration. Probably when it’s all too late of course.

    Long term this …it’s unsustainable.

we especially can’t have countries like ourselves here, with a population getting towards 10 million people.

look, Africa is in a total mess, also there are 8 recognised applications from other countries to join the EU…Turkey, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Moldova, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, also Kosovo and Georgia…are now added to that mix as ‘potential’ candidates.

The vast majority of Turkey is formally in Western Asia..

In the 80’s Morocco asked to join, Morocco ! it’s in Africa…They’ll probably hit us with another application now, seeing as NO is not in the EU box of words." Their first application was rejected, why though, did it even get past reception ? YOU ARE NOT IN EUROPE ! What next ?

    Syria ? Sudan ? Egypt ? Kuwait ? Canada ? Belize ?

    Come on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,496 ✭✭✭Luxembourgo

Even allowing Ukraine in, as has been mooted would make a complete mockery of any entry criteria this supposedly have.

Entry to the single market is great, but the EU is starting to come with negatives as well.

Locals in a small town are setting up a safety patrol over the recent attempted assault of a women.

Imagine people who lived in the town all there life are now having to worry about the welfare of women in the town.

This unfortunately is only the beginning of what we see in other countries.

The government should be held accountable for this ridiculous refugee policy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,529 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

I think they are scumbags, did you think I would put a white rapist on a higher scale than a black one or something?

I've said it numerous times we have enough home grown dirtbags but we don't need to be importing more of the same.

I see you have ignored the part of my post where in the video they called white people crackers and said there were too many of us.

    Any comment on that?

It would be interesting the opinion of a liberal on it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,328 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

The government should be held accountable for this ridiculous refugee policy.

They will be held accountable in the way all governments are, at the next general election.

Then you and others of like mind will have the opportunity to vote out the current government and elect parties that advocate more restrictive policies on refugees and immigration, if you can find any credible ones...

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,663 ✭✭✭DebDynamite

Too many “crackers” in Limerick/Ireland...WTF?! Sounds like he resents white people in Ireland. His parents either landed here in the last 25 years, or he came as a asylum seeker/immigrant himself... if he doesn’t like it he’s absolutely welcome to go back to the homeland where his people are from if there’s too many white people here. Mind you, give it 20 years and the demographic here might he more pleasing to him.

Absolutely! The video would’ve had it all: toxic masculinity, gender-based violence, racism. Not to mention the danger of knocking someone out in front of an oncoming bus... It would be front page news, discussed on all the current affairs shows, with many NGOs having their say on it.
