I ordered something recently. It shipped with Royal Mail on the 7th December from Belfast and arrived after Christmas, around the 29th or 30th.

2 weeks next Monday since parcel was sent from UK. I guess it is still in the UK. Royal mail tracking is also broken and has been for some time. It says awaiting item from seller. Anyway, I guess I will wait. It is not the sellers fault so I don't think I will do a pay pal claim just yet.

Anyone else stillseeing delays from Royal Mail/An post?

Have a small item coming from an ebay seller which was dispatched on the 10th of January and it didn't arrive. So he sent the items again 10 days ago and still no sign. These are small items that would fit in a small jiffy bag.

Is the delay still with Royal Mail or is it An Post?

Got 2 items sent from online retailer in the UK, both via Royal Mail. "Later" one already arrived, while the one they sent a week earlier - not.

They blame cyber attack on Royal Mail system.

I missed an An Post delivery a few weeks ago on a Saturday morning. No note left, I only knew I'd missed it because it was an Amazon delivery and there was an update on the Amazon site.

The postman brought it back the following Monday with no prompting from me.

Could you get a phone number for your local delivery office?

An Post are a joke. I have been waiting for a parcel for almost two weeks now and twice they said they attempted delivery and now today they say they delivered it which is rubbish unless it is invisible I do not see it anywhere near my premises.

They will be getting a good bollocking from me tomorrow if it does not turn up.

What was wrong with the cards they used to leave in saying your parcel is in your local Post Office.

It's backwards An Post gas gone.

DPD are the best of any of them and the only one I trust.

At least they message you and let you know when your parcel is coming.

Sign up for AnPosts My Delivery Manager.

Provide them with the e-mail and phone number that you use for your shopping and voila you get regular status updates via e-mail (when they get it, when it's on the way, when it's on the van and when it's delivered) and you can even define alternative delivery points (neighbours, safe places).

Works similar to what DPD does with their parcelwizard, the main difference is that you don't get the hour window that DPD does give you but it's very useful to see what is going on with your parcel and to re-direct it etc.

AnPost delivery for me has significant improved since I use that tool, there are still delays in getting stuff into the country but once it is with AnPost it usually is delivered quickly and the local postperson is always here at the same time, so I quite like AnPost.

So a small item in a tiny jiffy bag I bought on the 9th of January from a seller on ebay turned up last Monday 27th February, 7 weeks to the day, no idea if delay was this side of the pond or with Royal Mail absolutely crazy delays.

I'm waiting on something from Amazon and they said "We tried to deliver your post" This was Thursday Morning at 7:28am, I work from home, and my home office is beside the door, and I was in at 6:30, I got onto their so called support and they said this (see images) - I called them out on their scam with Amazon to make it look like the customer wasn't home and it's not their fault!!.

Today again the same thing happened. - Again I'm working from home and they said at 10:06am "We tried to deliver your post"

    Total joke they are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,297 ✭✭✭walterking

so the delivery person clicked the incorrect button on their handheld device - it happens sometimes.

btw - anpost now use gps and can very quickly see the EXACT location a delivery person scans a delivery. Hence they were able to quickly let you know it wasn't delivered as the gps most likely showed the depot.

I'm sure you never ever make an erro

I'm waiting for a hip replacement and due to chronic pain and mobility issues I'm forced to shop online. My postman is a very impatient fella. Last week he rang my intercom but by the time I answeredhe was gone. I was prepared for the delivery cos they now send texts the day before. I grabbed my cane and got the lift down hoping to catch him putting other mail in boxes. No such luck. Also no missed delivery notification. Which was the first thing requested when I called to arrange redelivery. I was told it had been noted and he'd probably try again the next day. Friday came and went so I hoped for Monday. On Tuesday I went down and checked my postbox only to discover that he'd pur the notice in , probably on Friday! Am I crazy for thinking that this was a **** thing to do? It's bad enough having to shop online without having to find suppliers that don't use an post.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45 ShaneODub

I think the guy who attempts the delivery is often not the regular postman; it's a guy in a van who doesn't have access to the building.

The actual postman, who has access to the post boxes, brings the missed delivery notice the following day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53 ✭✭trishabon

He definitely has access to the building. It's in a gated complex. Maybe you're right but he won't even wait for me to come down to collect stuff. He just tells me it's on the letterboxes. So if anything goes missing it's on me

This is not an error, I have seen the same fake delivery attempt multiple times. Same ch!t from Fedex as well...

Put the onus on the customer and not the delivery driver. Too easy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,832 ✭✭✭✭briany

This is starting to happen to me now as well. The An Post guy is signing for the parcel himself and then just leaving it on the doorstep and not even ringing the bell. I'm not sure if An Post will take the complaint if there is 'evidence' that the parcel was signed for.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,065 ✭✭✭Miaireland

It will be up to An Post to prove it is your signature.

If I post a letter today, Saturday, will it reach its destination in Ireland by Tuesday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,985 ✭✭✭The Continental Op

A new low from An Post. They are sending out their customs need to be payed letter at least twice for some items. My son paid the duty as soon as the letter arrived then following day got another letter stating the same thing. Now my wifes got two letters for the same item. Both items sat around in "Customs" for over a week before the letters arrived.

Wake me up when it's all over.

As above, the charge by An Post for processing non-eu items for customs purposes was €3.50, but has now been increased to €4.95.

The email I received said the increase was as of 9th September, however I was charged a €4.95 fee on an item last week.

Approx 40% increase in one go.

it was stupidly cheap to do it manually for €3.50, but made sense when it was to be totally automated. To then increase it after the fiasco of returning everything, and when it is now automatic is unreal.

Same 'attempted delivery' happens with Temu packages. Then it is delivered the next day(s)

Anyone hit with these charges yet as it kind of says it will put charges on all value goods.

Faked delivery attempts made by An Post still happens for Amazon. Recently I got tracking update at 18:31 from Amazon triggered by An Post tracking status update: "Unfortunately, An Post ran into an issue when attempting your delivery. They will try again."

I was home at that time. I doubt they actually deliver by that time. No docket in the door.

    Delivered the next day.

I wonder if they get some penalties by Amazon if they at least don't attempt to deliver on time.

I can't think of another reason why they would be actively faking the tracking status.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,985 ✭✭✭The Continental Op

According to my postman there are penalties if they mess up their Amazon contract it includes scanning almost every item when delivered and its easy to forget when Amazon items are mostly no signature required.

Also I believe non delivery of mail put out for delivery is a sackable offence.

Wake me up when it's all over.

I sent an international parcel on the 21st - It wasn't going to move until Monday. It appears as if there has been no progress since it went to Dublin. It was a large bubble wrap envelope with a gift of socks, teddy and jewellery. There was a birthday card in it too.

The express and registered option that I took said 4 to 6 working days. It's on day number 7.

It was a joint parcel from me and my mother. I expect that she put cash into a card but I don't know how much. She has been told time and time again not to put money into cards but she will not listen.

Has this parcel been compromised? Has it been lifted from Dublin and stolen? Is there x-ray machines where they can see cash in a card in a larger package?

There's no update to the tracking since it left Dublin.

Why do you immediately jump to the conclusion its been stolen? It says quite clearly its awaiting handover to the onward carrier. It doesn't say it has left Dublin. I wouldn't take the transit times as gospel either, they are at the mercy of flights going to the required destinations. Same on parcels coming into Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 66 ✭✭goldsparkle

There was cash in a card which I was unaware of at the time of sending. I know stuff that looks like birthday cards can be lifted in case there's cash in them. My parcel didn't look like a birthday card. It was a bigger parcel. Is there x-ray machines in postal offices. If cash appeared on a screen somewhere it could go missing/lifted.

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 15,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭whiterebel

For a start, check the forum charter regarding unfounded allegations re theft etc. Thats the last mention of it here.

No, each post office doesn’t have x-ray but there would be one at the airport that a big bag of parcels go through, so the chances of them spotting cash in a big bag is fairly small. The x-ray would be looking for drugs, explosives, liquids etc.

Again, it hasn't even departed yet, and An Post actually tell you that their own tracking may not update, depending on what the post office on the other side does or doesn't do.

I intended to send an international parcel through an post.

The parcel is still here with me due to packing problems etc.

There is no more need to send it.

I looked on the website for information but there is none and it is Sunday so I can not reach anyone but chatbot Oscar.

He is not of much help.

Does anyone know if and how I can get a refund on the label bought online for to send the parcel.

I think your situation is probably unusual in that most people would not buy postage until their package is packed and ready to go. Your best option is to go to a post office tomorrow and explain or send an email to an post. I'm sure they will refund you.

    Absolute utter rubbish.

Imagine if there was an accident or particularly bad weather or maybe an excessive number of packages, and "you believe" non delivery of items out for delivery is "a sackable offence"

Whoever told you this sh1te is an utter moron. We don't live in North Korea.

Whilst items don't require a signature, an post offer a "delivery confirmed" service to volume customers. This is a scan at point of delivery. It records the location and is uploaded. But a signature is not required.

You can get the same service with their online postage service.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,985 ✭✭✭The Continental Op

Imagine if the postmans van breaks down? Surprise surprise no one is going to get sacked, but deliberately not delivering something is a different matter.

Wake me up when it's all over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 295 ✭✭ShayNanigan

This exact thing happened to me today but it was around noon. I am 100% sure no-one has been at my door. I contacted An Post but they did not say what the issue was, just asked me if I wanted the parcel to be redelivered.

Do they even need to ask? Has anyone ever said "Nah, I'm good, just keep it"? I think the issue they ran into was a coffee break followed by an acute case of cantbearseditis.

This is the first time this has happened. Usually they always ring the doorbell or knock and if I'm not there within 5 seconds, leave the parcel at my doorstep which is fine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 295 ✭✭ShayNanigan

Quoting myself but wanted to update. Amazon order has been "out for delivery" since 7 am (they were supposed to deliver yesterday). About ten minutes ago I saw the postman deliver mail to the adjacent houses but definitely was nowhere near my house. I went and opened the door to let him know I'm here in case he had mail for me but he went back to the van empty handed and drove away.

I am hoping they do separate delivery for parcels later in the day and this was not it. Tracking doesn't show any updates yet. Interestingly enough, there's no indication the item went back to the depot yesterday. After "we tried to deliver" the next update is "out for delivery". I know it was never even out of the depot.

Update: The parcel arrived. This time the postman both knocked and rang the bell. He had already dropped the parcel on the doormat and was about to leave when I opened the door about two seconds later. This tells me yesterday was a fake attempt.

Does anyone know how a standard An Post letter gets to Nepal?

Posted a good while ago but still not received

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 148 ✭✭user060916

Just to follow up on this.

Standard Post went to the Dublin Mail Centre then disappeared for good.

Sent one by Registered Post on a Friday. It flew to Amsterdam on the Saturday. Sat for 2 weeks in IMEC in Amsterdam. Then flew to Paris CDG, then on to Bangkok BKK with Thai Airways finally then to Kathamndu KTM on Thai airways.

Not sure if the standard post one will make a reappearance or has just been dumped somewhere

Standard post has no tracking so it will be on the slow boat to Nepal. It will probably arrive there sometime.
