Recruit prison officer 2022

I’ve done form b for the guards and it’s pretty much the same things as this clearance form. The guards are very strict about having all the eircodes and relatives addresses correct so I’d imagine the prison service will be the same. That being said, I really doubt they know whether you stayed there or not, not sure why they want the volume of information they’re looking for.

Will they be recruiting again in 2023 for prison officers or is that the last batch?

I was reading through the info booklet again and saw that if your BMI is over 30 you possibly have to do a chester step test as part of the medical examination. Has anyone here done a chester step test before? What is the pass score?

Yeah I got it this morning aswell found it odd. Unless they are just confirming we are who we say we are? Odd enough

No, haven’t heard anything since they asked for clearance form. Most likely will be another few weeks til we have medicals

Yeh it is and we have to run with a fire extinguisher, have a grip test, push and pull test, seated bench press and then an anaerobic test which we have to run (7×15m) done in 30 seconds or less and lastly hold a riot shield for a minimum of 60seconds 😳

Definitely the shuttles and getting the timing right!! Hopefully we will fly through it tho and they go easy on us haha... Yeah as far as I know I think it depends on your medical

Hi everyone, has anyone else gotten the follow on garda clearance application and info re. medical? I'm in batch 1 and haven't received anything since sending off the security clearance.

Here's hoping it won't be too much longer for us. The waiting is a head wreck. But I suppose if they needed more info on the security clearance etc they would have let us know by now.

@Swabber21 yeah maybe so that could be the case. I'd say its more likely as and when a person clears the security check they send out the Garda clearance and info re. medical. But I don't know.

Does anyone know what the starting salary is like in this job? I know they say there is a decent wage to be made with overtime but what would the basic wage be?

How are people feeling about the physical? Is anyone doing any specific training for it yet?

I'm delighted to know your getting your BMI down below 30! Had the medical process already so didn't really have much time to get "professional help" and to be honest going into the role I would rather a BMI of over 30 and to keep my muscles!

Thanks personally I’d be embarrassed not to be under the 30bmi but that’s just me. I’ll still be big at my bmi goal of 29.99💪. Hopefully my muscles don’t shrivel away.
