For a rider who has won a GT, was third in another, been twice 2nd O/A in Paris Nice and second in Romandie, Yates never seems to ride with any ambitions other than to nab a stage here and there.

This is a crazy climb in T-A, WVA powered up it and split the peloton

Road and surroundings looks very Irish.

Megan Armitage has become the first ever Irish woman to win a UCI-ranked stage race, also claiming the final stage at Vuelta Extremadura Féminas.

    Delighted for her.

2024 TDF route announced today, basically modified versions of the last 2 stages of Paris-Nice that just finished, with the final stage a 35km TT over Col d'Eze

Good interview with Sam on cyclingnews.com.

( It's tagged as premium content but I had no issue viewing it all)

Irish champion jersey in the break in Belgium

Lotte Kopecky won the women's race just days after he brother died, understandably emotional at the end.

Stan Dewulf took a detour into a big pile of sh1te in GP Denain today

    First monument on Eurosport now.

Pog fell in the neutral zone but doesn't seem serious and he was smiling to the camera.

    Only 285km to go 😊

They are on the coast now so the scenery will improve. Good background viewing while doing other things.

I've had it as background noise since the Turchino pass. Probably another hour and a half before it gets interesting..

Yep approaching the capos now so this is the time to tune in if you have been waiting.

Most boring monument up to the last 50km. But then the last 50km is magnificent. Love it.

Hard to see Sam being there at the end based on how the race goes these days but we live in hope. As is standard now for any race he is in I'm hoping Fred Wright can be there or thereabouts. Also odd that Kung isn't here. Maybe he is unwell.

    Bennett down!

FFS, looks like he rode into a bike rack

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40 Torrey

Clipped a bike rack on the side of the road FFS, disaster

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 25,728 Mod ✭✭✭✭CramCycle

I think he is out after that, he is sitting up and doesn't look in pain but its a difficult place to track back from.

I was just laughing to myself about the English thinking Cavendish being dropped was a big deal.

A bike rack of all things ffs.

I hope Sam Bennett is okay after the crash.

Race about to change. UAE about to put the hammer down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,782 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

    Wtf how is ganna there??

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 25,728 Mod ✭✭✭✭CramCycle

    Great finish

Class ride by Van Der Poel.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 9,043 Mod ✭✭✭✭mewso

Fair play Ganna. Felt sure he would lose out to the other two at the end.

    Great finish in Catalunya.

UAE when Pog is not around are absolute clowns.

Whatever about the tactics some ride by Almeida after having a mechanical at the start of the climb. Also great ride by Lenny Maritinez. 19 years of age.

Martinez was 8th in the Tour de l'Avenir last year, the top 10 on GC from that all raced today in either Catalunya or Coppi Bartali in Italy except 1 - Archie Ryan. Shame he's not had the same chances this season yet as the others, including his own trade teammates Hessman and Staune-Mittet.

Great race up the final climb.

Has he raced at all this year yet?

His contract is up the end of the year, wouldn’t be at all surprised if he jumps ship to another team at this rate

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,947 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

That was a great race yesterday. At one stage Landa looked like he had another gear but when he tried he hadn't. Then Evanapoel went to the front and it looked like he and Roglic would fight out the stage win. I was shocked that Ciccone was able to stay with them and outsprint Roglic.

My heart went out to Chavez, he made a great move but not to be.

Ciccone has improved over the last 18 months. Won a Giro stage last year and contended in a few more both there and at the Tour.

Finishing ahead of Vlasov, Landa and Carthy at Tirreno-Adriatico was very notable.

According to PCS, no races so far in 2023, and no upcoming participations either. Looking at strava, he's been doing a few small spins in wicklow this past couple of weeks.

Sam Bennett down to race in Belgium today in Brugge - De Panne classic. Coverage on ES2.

Lot of big name sprinters in the mix.

Not sure about racing, but still on home roads at the moment anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,901 ✭✭✭✭dahat

    Bennett abandoned very early on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,782 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

Saw that he wasnt in the split and was wondering. Van Poppel and Mullen are there.

    Miserable day in belgium.

Took a nasty crash on Sunday and still feeling ill from a recent cold, hopefully he'll come good again soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,059 ✭✭✭Paddigol

Hopefully. He's definitely due a run of good luck.

Super finish there by Remco to take the win from Roglic on stage 3 of the Volta a Catalunya, I really thought Roglic would come round.

Win for Ben Healy today in Italy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,362 ✭✭✭✭Dodge

Attacked with Pozzovivo and Padun with about 5-6km to go. Won the sprint ahead of Pozzovivo

Great to get that first win as a pro

That race has been good to Irish cyclists recently

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,901 ✭✭✭✭dahat

Delighted to see Healy win as he is one of those who will always roll the dice in a race.

Didnt realise that E3 Harelbeke is on today, Pog, WVA and MVDP all start. Coupled with the final climb in Catalunya, thats my WFH afternoon sorted!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,983 ✭✭✭Mefistofelino

Hatch absolutely bursting to keep telling us that "the only rider to win both E3 and the TdF was Geraint Thomas". Fairly random pairing of events, TBH. Suspect that if it wasn't a British rider, they wouldn't have even bothered with that factoid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,947 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Didn't that story start out about Eddy Merckx never winning the E3?

It was just a follow on from that iirc.

Anyway it's mental having two races like this on at the same time. I have GCN so have the Volta on there and the E3 on the TV. You think they'd have gotten together to ensure there was an hour at least between finish times.

Right now there's 24km left in the volta and 28 left in the E3.

E3 should be well finished for Catalunya

    Great race in Belgium
