    Pretty solid 10kWh yesterday, happy with that as we were somewhat varying levels of overcast the whole day.

  • Registered Users Posts: 62 ✭✭harvindhillon

    I had 18kwh and 14kwh today, with overcast and rain spread out over the course of the day. South facing 6kw array in Newcastle.

    Seeing decent production as long as the sun peaks here and there since it is higher in the sky now.

    4.2Kwp system facing south in Meath- Just 4.4kwh today & 114 total for month so far.

    Will be lucky to break 200kwh this month - vis-a-vis 446 for March 2022 and 307 for March 2021

    🙄

    Yesterday was 14.8kWh, today is already at 14.1kWh so should break 15 by the end of day.

    5kWp system here in Cork, got 18.3kWh today sorting the battery, all the hot water and heating a room though an old oil fired heater. Oh, and the washing.

    Great day in galway. Clouds arrived at times but with decent wind they soon cleared.

  • Registered Users Posts: 530 ✭✭✭The devils

    No charging last night so fingers crossed 😉

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,084 ✭✭✭silver_sky

    met eireann are forecasting a localised total eclipse over "the devils" house 🤣

    Joking aside, looks like it will be a good one today. Solar was covering base load already by 7.30am and now already pulling 1kW at 10am. My system is SW facing and usually doesn't start to pick up til later.

  • Registered Users Posts: 530 ✭✭✭The devils

    😅😅 🤣

    East/West here dumped 4 into the car and wash and dryer on so far.

    Out for the day so hopefully full up while gone 🙏

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,084 ✭✭✭silver_sky

    Ended on 7.2kWh here today. Most of the production was by 12 and then the clouds and rain reduce the afternoon production. Not too bothered as was out for the day so finished with 0.7kWh export only.

    18.5kWh today, morning was fairly good then the clouds rolled in and production fell off a cliff!

    Slightly unfair living down under, 5kw system and up and running about 8 months at this stage

  • Registered Users Posts: 125 ✭✭hero25

    Apologies in advance if the info I'm looking for is buried in this thread somewhere, as I'm sure it is, I just cant find it ;-)

    has anyone got a year (or more) of data?

    how has it worked out in terms of what the installers forecast?

    Im considering an installation on a South roof, no shade and trying to see how many KW it might realistically generate, not just per annum, but for each month.

    e.g will a 6.4KW system generate 5K? but 4k of it might be in June and July! cos if t is, most of it could be "going down the drain"

    thanks for any help.

    While (generally) Ireland is a smallish country and therefore little deviation between north south east west, you will find some areas better/worse.

    Best bet is go to

    JRC Photovoltaic Geographical Information System (PVGIS) - European Commission (europa.eu)

    Select your location on the map. Enter in the size, slope and orientation of the system (south is 0, west 90, east -90) and away you go.

    And for those of you out there who care - today is the spring equinox. More daylight tomorrow than darkness (barring the ever present clouds over D16):-)

    Here is my 6.1 kWp moving 7 day average of daily PV production. The system is south facing and I am based just south of Cork City. Data is from end of November 2021 to yesterday.

    Dont worry about it going down the drain you will get a feed in Tariff for everything you export if you have a smart meter (or estimated if you don't) I got about €360 for last year in estimated FIT, should have been around €800 before tax if I had a smart meter (€500 after TAX)

    One thing you will NEVER hear people on here saying they put up too many panels.... put up as many as you can you wont be sorry.

    I have a 30 day moving average also below also which is basically to smooth this out further and to give you an idea what you should produce in a particular month daily.

    Messing around with graphs for the previous post and I had a look how 2023 is comparing to 2022...Looking back March 2022 was fantastic, I am 200kWh behind 2022 at this stage 😯 hope it starts getting better soon. Although looking at the week ahead unfortunately not

    Yup - similar story here in D16.

    Roughly that same 20% down on March 2022. Still we have 10 days for it to catch up and tomorrow looks fairly decent by met.ie

    @DC999 @jkforde

    I've been messing around with Excel for this, the following is probably a simple and stupid way to get the data into Excel but its all I got at the minute!

    Maybe someone could suggest better.

    Create a URL based on your own Lat\Long, eg http://metwdb-openaccess.ichec.ie/metno-wdb2ts/locationforecast?lat=xx.xx;long=-x.xx

    Select all the data that appears on this page and paste to notepad, delete the following lines:

    This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

    <meta>

    <model name="harmonie" termin="2023-03-22T06:00:00Z" runended="2023-03-22T08:57:39Z" nextrun="2023-03-22T10:00:00Z" from="2023-03-22T10:00:00Z" to="2023-03-24T12:00:00Z"/>

    <model name="ec_n1280_1hr" termin="2023-03-22T00:00:00Z" runended="2023-03-22T08:57:36Z" nextrun="2023-03-22T18:00:00Z" from="2023-03-24T13:00:00Z" to="2023-03-25T18:00:00Z"/>

    <model name="ec_n1280_3hr" termin="2023-03-22T00:00:00Z" runended="2023-03-22T08:57:37Z" nextrun="2023-03-22T18:00:00Z" from="2023-03-25T21:00:00Z" to="2023-03-28T00:00:00Z"/>

    <model name="ec_n1280_6hr" termin="2023-03-22T00:00:00Z" runended="2023-03-22T08:57:38Z" nextrun="2023-03-22T18:00:00Z" from="2023-03-28T06:00:00Z" to="2023-04-01T00:00:00Z"/>

    </meta>

    Then save the file as weatherdata.xml or something like that.

    Open Excel. Go to the Developer tab, click Source, click "XML Maps...."

    Click "Add.." browse to the weatherdata.xml file saved previously, click open, click ok on a error message that appears and then click OK again.

    The XML source data appears on the right, right-click the folder name at the top of the tree and click Map Element, click ok on the Map XML Elements screen. Finally on the develop tab click Import then select your weatherdata.xml file again and click Import. Click ok on error.

    You should now be able to filter the data you want!

    Best output today in 6 months since mid Sept

    Nice one, Delboy!

    for others, don't delete the opening <weatherdata.....> tag from the start or Excel won't be able to map it

    (and if you don't have Developer tab on the ribbon, right-click on ribbon, customise and enable the Developer tab in the Main Tabs list)

    18.4kwh here today, lots of showers and a cool wind, both keeping the panels clean and cool!

    will be happy if the next 4 days turn out as predicted!

    update: been playing around with saving the XML and using the XML mapping in Excel... so you can just use the Save As facility in the browser to save the XML as an XML file and it gets rid of the top warning (saving seconds!). Also, if you specifically select which elements to map while configuring the XML mapping in XML, you can leave the <META> tag data, it'll make no difference when importing. Finally, if you save the Exel file with the XML map and any filtering, you won't have to do it again. Thanks again Delboy, short of delving into APIs, Ha etc etc, this is exactly what I wanted, don't mind the couple of mins 'work' every few days... (a sane tonic from screaming rug-rats I tell ya!!)

    Numbers really climbing now we're summer side of the equinox. It was the same last year, from mid March production really ramped up.

    Last March was really good, A real outlier.

    Last year, on 8.6kwp I had 6 days of greater than 30kwh highest being 34. and 14 days of greater than 20 (but less than 30).

    This year, so far there has been 4 days greater than 20kwh.
