Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Molumby put in one of the great all-time shifts in midfield in that half. He’s been outstanding.

First 10 mins of the second half crucial. Huge concentration required

  • Registered Users Posts: 737 ✭✭✭athlone99

Have a day off. You clearly have no interest in watching or cheering on the team and all you want is Kenny gone. Tonights tactics are everything you called on him to do and your still not happy.

Disciplined FH. Need to keep digging deep.

    Coman will be on shortly.

Can’t ask for more than that. They’ve been good at picking their moments to try and break, forwards are a bit isolated as you’d expect.

But they’ve frustrated the French so far, hopefully it can continue!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,798 ✭✭✭✭DrumSteve

Tbf, he seems well up for it.

Whole team putting in a shift here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,232 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

We need to try and get Evan Ferguson more involved.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,174 ✭✭✭Xander10

He is best ignored. You can just tell he is praying for a French goal.

Have France even had a Shot on target?

We are doing quite well. I like the way we are at least trying to attack, showing a bit of confidence.

Still a tough 45 to go though as France are as good as it gets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,306 ✭✭✭✭Drumpot

I think the French underestimated ireland. Thumping Netherlands could have given them a slightly superior sense of confidence as that’s the second seed.

I hope ireland can keep up the workrate and performance in the 2nd half. I was at the Latvia game last week and was really worried about this game , but so far they’ve been excellent.

Find it hard to not completely root for every one of them. Would be amazing to get something out of this game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,271 ✭✭✭Tandey

They haven't and their xG is only 0.17 though Irelands is 0.

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭Faugheen

Of course, would be unfair of me to ignore that. Molumby was just my standout. It’s easy to try and gee up the crowd but he’s backed it up and kept a cool head. Hopefully he continues to do that.

Hard to see the midfield doing what they’ve been doing for another half though. It was relentless.

Egan another standout for me, and of course Ogbene.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,503 ✭✭✭kowloonkev

No, sure they must be parking the bus as well.

Next Man City manager: You lot may all be internationals and have won all the domestic honours there are to win under Pep. But as far as I'm concerned, the first thing you can do for me is to chuck all your medals and all your caps and all your pots and all your pans into the biggest **** dustbin you can find, because you've never won any of them fairly. You've done it all by bloody cheating.

    Going well so far..

Interesting to see Kenny’s use of the bench now - based on the first half if Obafemi gets in I would like to be for Ferguson rather than Ogbene.. Also maybe Smallbone for Knight at some time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Zico !

Not bad holding them at half time and we got a few free kicks and corners

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,123 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

I know they will turn it with subs and a half time hole kick but man this has been great so far.

Every player we have is playing at their limit and Theo, Rabiot and M'Bappe who are all prone to bad days are having them so far.

Very happy with that first half. Excellent tactics and a fully focused and committed performance from the lads. It will be hard to keep that up for 90 minutes but there's certainly green shoots.

I don’t know about that. His hold-up play has been good and we’ve won free kicks from it. I’m not sure Obafemi adds enough to negate that, especially when Ogbene is bound to get tired at some stage.

Another ref sucking the aras of the star player.

  • Registered Users Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Zico !

Ogbene irelands best player out there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52,404 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

Ogbeni is winning frees in great areas.

    Dreadful goal to concede

thats an annoying goal to concede

    Another long range goal conceded

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,170 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

That's another goal conceded by Ireland from outside the box. I think that's at least 10 in recent campaigns.

Great strike in fairness but a mistake that was avoidable, no chance of saving that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,306 ✭✭✭✭Drumpot

That’s painful. Hope they can shake that off.

  • Registered Users Posts: 737 ✭✭✭athlone99

Great strike, not much Bazunu could do about it. Its a sickener that they didnt have to work for it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,108 ✭✭✭happyoutscan

    Awful goal to give away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,174 ✭✭✭Xander10

Cullen's set pieces have been poor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52,404 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

Hopefully they keep their heads up because you never know what could happen. They might make a mistake.

France still a little sloppy, another soft free given away by them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,517 ✭✭✭passremarkable

Any chance we can sub Stephen kelly

    he is painful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Good burst of play there... shame Knight didn't look for the runner on the left instead of shooting into traffic, but showed we still have threat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,503 ✭✭✭kowloonkev

Time to bring on the Scottish lad for Knight.

Some of our lads starting to look tired/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Idah about to come on... would expect Smallbone and Obafemi the other options to come on not too long after.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,798 ✭✭✭✭DrumSteve

    Ferguson coming off here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,306 ✭✭✭✭Drumpot

Are commentators obliged to call it the Aviva roar? Like if he said the landsdowne roar could Aviva or FAI do anything ?

Kelly: "Idah and Ferguson are like for like".

No they are not. One is a teenager making a stir in the PL. The other hardly makes a splash for Norwich
