Accept a job offer and keep interviewing?

So I've been offered a job from Company A while still in the middle of another interview process with company B. I think i prefer company B.

Company A want an answer by Monday (it's Friday now)

I want to finish the interview process with company B.

This is a big deal and don't want to be forced to accept the offer.

But i guess i need to just reject or accept it.

Anybody been in this situation?

Would you accept company A's offer and continue interviewing with company B? And then "quit" company A if company B offered you a job?

Surely somebody's been in this situation before. Plz help.

I was in that situation recently with the added complication of background checks. I went for the second role in the end

Yes. It was a bit more complicated. I was interviewing for four roles. Got offered them all and accepted one and signed a contract

Then a fifth role came up at speed and was more attractive so once I signed that I rescinded my acceptance of the other contract.

My skilleset however is both niche and in demand

The employer I rescinded the contract with asked me to get in touch if the role I chose to go with did not work out

Accept A.

If you get offered something better before you start, or even just after, then tell them you've changed your mind and take the something better.

Everyone's doing it, and remote work has made it accepting a job a low investment thing in many cases.

Agree, accept the first offer and if offer B pans out go for it. The same thing happened to me I just politely declined/rescinded my offer for Company A when I got offered the second one. It happens all the time.

A company will cut you loose the moment they even think that it's in their best interest.

You owe loyalty to no one but yourself. Do what's best for you

That is why you as an employer don’t close out your second, third or fourth choice until you are satisfied with the first candidate. These things happen, people change their minds or you change your mind after the guy has been on the job for a few days. Don’t over think it, do what suits you, unless you are dealing with a very inexperienced company, you can expect they’ll have a plan to deal with it.

Did you sign a contract? I have to sign it today for Company A. OP here. Still in the interview process with company B.

Sign the contract. You can always change your mind. People often leave after the first day or week at new job.

Also, the probation period is a two way street. You're as entitled to leave them as they are to not continue employment

You need to start drawing this to a close.... are you in a position at this stage where company B are likely to make you an offer and are they aware of the situation? If they are really interested in you, they should be moving up the pace.

You have had the offer from company A since 31.03.23, it does take much of a leap for company A to figure out your are not the interested and change their minds.

I did sign a contract, but you can make your excuses either be honest saying you got a better offer or offer no explanation its up to you.
