Text messages conundrum

Looking for insight on this in case it is indicative of something nefarious!

I recently sent some text messages to my sister in England. She replied saying she was confused as the initial text message showed as coming from a different mobile number, and was in a new separate chat, not our ongoing text chat.

All my subsequent replies where from different numbers in separate chats.

This is not happening with any other texts I send to others.

Does anybody know what's going on here and is it likely on my end or hers?

The numbers the texts are being 'delivered' by to my sister are +44.... UK numbers.

Would you somehow have those numbers linked to your Apple ID? Have you an iPhone/iPad? Are they delivering as green messages(sms) or blue (iMessages) to the other person?

    Which network are you on?

I'm with Vodafone and using 'Messages' for these texts, so sms. Don't have an iPhone. Our messages were all in one chat for me, but not her. She seems to be with Tesco mobile from her screenshots.

Has this started happening only recently?

Can you send her a SMS from a network other than Vodafone to see if it's a Vodafone issue?

Never happened before the day before yesterday. A message my friend sent from their phone did not go through to her, but that is still Vodafone.

Would your Tesco friend have moved network recently? Could be some odd routing issue.

Thanks for the help DopeTech. I'm guessing something like that where they are routing their messages in some odd way. I'll link with her and see.

What brand of phone are you using? Same question for her.

I have a Samsung S10+. Hers looks like an old iPhone.

Is the number the messages are coming from showing as +447802092035?

It could be that her SMSC is forwarding the messages without appending source number?

No, the various numbers are in the screenshots there but that one is not in there.
