Buying second Hand these days

Hey, lovely looking cars all 3. I'd prefer the A4 or A5 myself and from previous experience I found the smaller cars easier to sell second hand (A3, Golf etc). The A6 does look good value though considering the mileage. Might be worth seeing if there's any big difference with insurance but imo the A4 would it appeal to a greater audience in the second hand market! (but I'd prob prefer to be driving the flashy A5 around!)

Being a UK import makes no difference to resale value.

I would avoid the 1.8 petrol and look at the 1.4 petrol options instead. They will have the best resale value

That 35 TFSI 2.0 litre is still only 150bhp, same as the 1.4 litre but with a little more grunt. I think the 2.0 litre 190bhp version are badged 40 TFSI. Silly and confusing badging by Audi.

I had that model A6 and it's a lovely comfortable and I'd recommend, although I did have diesel so I can't comment on the engine. They're all automatics anyway which you are looking at.

One thing I'll say is the infotainment screen is well out of date in 2023, its really a 2011 design just updated a little throughout the years and a small city car launched in 2018 could have a more modern system, not sure if that bothers you or not. I did have the upgraded bose sound system though which was nice.

You need to think of resale potential.

Who is going to want to buy an A6 with a petrol engine, a few years older than it is now? Few and far between.

At the money your looking at i would get a petrol Skoda Octavia style, cracking car for the money and a 2021-2022 car.

Why not, very few medium/large saloon cars on our roads since 2008 due to the favorable tax treatment given to diesel cars on CO2. Petrol suits a lot more drivers than diesel and the added problems of dpf re-generation and more recently ad-blue issues. I've always owned petrol cars and would consider an A6 petrol but perhaps not a 1.8l, a 2.2+ would be a lot more desirable.

Nonsense, nobody will want the diesel in a few years and an older petrol car will still be worth something compared to a smokey old diesel with the emissions control system likely "mapped out".

OP buy what you what. A4 or A5 with either petrol be a lovely car and very sellable.

If you want to buy a 5 year old a4 for 27k when the market is crazy on price please do, in 2-3 years you will have lost a packet, far better to buy an octavia in the new shape and lose very little.

When I was looking at the audi there was some value to had it was 4 years old and an A6 rather than the A4 you have posted at 26k.

That a5 you posted is a beautiful car but madness spending that on a 4 tear old car.

No I won't keep it to myself, you totally dismissed my suggestion on the skoda because you want an audi so people will think your cool. The new octavia is a fantastic looking car, miles ahead of an A4.

Given the choice, id go for the A6.

On another note, car prices are crazy. In Jan 2021 I bought an 18 reg A4 (uk import), not the same as the one you linked, it was a 2L diesel. if I remember correctly the asking price was 26k, with 18k miles on the clock.
