Not true though. AGS have guns on tripods which function in exactly the same way as Go Safe vans, and they have their own vans too. The days of having to be stopped by a guard to get a ticket are long gone.

If traffic, weather, etc are favourable then there's rarely a need to be below the speed limit. You'd fail your driving test for 'not making sufficient progress' after all.

Although since fuel prices went through the roof I follow trucks on motorways and reduce my fuel consumption by 30% or more compared to doing a GPS 120km/h in clean air. But on a motorway there's always the opportunity for those who want to go faster to overtake.

Also it's generally worth paying the tolls instead of trying to dodge them - on the M4 and M6 anyway. The detours are longer, slower, and are likely to involve some stop-start traffic so the toll saving gets eaten up by increased fuel consumption.
