But yet when there was a 4 week gap between winning a province and the semi final the wait was what killed the champions.

I'd also be all for an open draw type championship.

Regardless the best team wins the all Ireland every year..

Good teams find a way to navigate whatever system is in place..losing teams find excuses

Current system is fine imo, Leinster just need to cut off some of the deadwood, go back to 5 teams, Dublin & wexford will improve in time.

Running on empty? Semi professional athletes..had to play games a few weeks in a row..more a sign of manager not getting it right I think..panel's are there to be used ..

Nothing to do with kilkenny being better than them on the day?

Limerick weren't too empty in the other semi-final...

Daly and Sheedy doing RTE punditry from Hyde Park, Roscommon. Surely they could have got a couple of pundits from counties not involved like Tyrell and Canning and let Sheedy and Daly attend the Clare v Tipp game in Ennis. Money talks i guess.

I also find it strange they'll analyse a game they watch on TV like the rest of us, rather than in person, where you see a lot more.

Some record, going for a 5th Munster in a row with today's competition.

For all the talk that Leinster teams, more specifically Kilkenny, have it handier, since the round-robin provincials have been introduced, only Munster teams have won the All Ireland (discounting the Covid years, when they were All-Munster finals anyway).

  • Registered Users Posts: 655 ✭✭✭Mad about baa baas

Exactly..Best team wins..you can make excuses all.day to suit your agenda..myself included probably

  • Registered Users Posts: 995 ✭✭✭Ragwort and Stones

That's all speculation. Tyrone played 10 intense games to win the 2005 All Ireland. Likewise in a very amateur era Meath played many successive weeks and lost the AI by only 2 pts, played 10 games again.

Kilkenny actually had a tougher time getting out of Leinster last year than Clare. Dublin could have knocked them out in the last group game. Clare had 2 weeks to recover.

It's not that hard to understand Clare we're beat out the gate. But as Jim Telfer said weak people make excuses. Limerick don't make excuses.

Completely disagree with this notion. Expanding it to six teams was done to try and give the so-called deadwood a chance at improving. It's what those teams called for and it needs to be given time to see if the system works to benefit those teams.

Biggest issue in Leinster is that it looks like Dublin and Wexford have slipped back a bit.

  • Registered Users Posts: 655 ✭✭✭Mad about baa baas

Agreed..Antrim have improved in my opinion..Dublin very inconsistent. Wexford are like most teams post Davy..takes a couple of years to recover

Limerick are powerful so far. Intensity unreal.

At least Hawk Eye seems to be working faster in Thurles than last year. Must have upgraded to Duracel batteries.

  • Registered Users Posts: 995 ✭✭✭Ragwort and Stones

    This is great stuff!

Declan Hannon off injured. Not a good sign after missing the league final. He is the glue that holds that great backline together.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

It's a btreath of fresh air not to have Marty Morrissey on commentary.

  • Registered Users Posts: 995 ✭✭✭Ragwort and Stones

Has there ever been a better corner back than Sean Finn.. I haven't seen him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 655 ✭✭✭Mad about baa baas

Limerick are different class..much more assured.on thr ball.

Waterford look nervous..long range pot shots are a killer

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Desperate luck for Tadgh De Burca. The man has suffered some amount of injuries. It goes from bad to worse for Waterford.

    Waterford at nothing.

Waterford will hold Limerick to around 6 at ht but Limerick will pull away in second gear in the second half to win very comfortably. They are at a different level.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,617 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

Limerick are making plenty of mistakes, you can see they are not near their peak, and waterford cant stay next or near them.

Giving the limerick FF line 1/3 of the field to play in cant be considered a good idea.

30 minutes gone and waterford have 2 points from play.

  • Registered Users Posts: 995 ✭✭✭Ragwort and Stones

    The power deficit is unreal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Teak tough defending from Limerick turning over Waterford possession. So hard to penrtrate that Lim backline.

The Waterford physio has been a busy man

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,474 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

Bit of a blindside hit by Flanagan. Hate seeing that

  • Registered Users Posts: 995 ✭✭✭Ragwort and Stones

Limerick will have Waterford well worn down by early second half with the hits they're getting in.

Waterford are a shambles. Can't even get out of their own half. Movement off the shoulder is non existent and they're getting turned over with regularity within seconds of the puckout.

Themselves and wexford have fallen off a cliff. Galway and Clare have slipped backwards. I can only see Tipp possibly giving Limerick a rattle.
