Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There may be advantages to him getting the late late gig (which I don’t watch). Wouldn’t be on weekend radio anymore?

I think he did take up Parlon in relation to his praise of Lowry and “he delivers for his people” expression.

Regarding the disclaimer stuff….. my theory is that if he balanced the panel better he wouldn’t have to be the only contrary voice all these panels can pump out.

I mean who were those panelists on this morning, who was that Minnie one?

who was the geezer with the Irish name …. Where are they ‘coming from’?

    All stuff we should know?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,854 ✭✭✭✭Beechwoodspark

The Minnie Mooney one is a self appointed spokeswoman for everyone under 40 in Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Yeah, he did “check” re. the praise, but Parlon doubled down on it.

I’m no fan of Parlon’s in his former PD role or his current role, but I’ll say this for him, he gets air time and he’s very vocal about the group he represents. If you didn’t know otherwise you’d think builders and property developers were a non-profit organizations the way he goes on.

Singer Tolü Makay was on with him yesterday and apparently she went to the now infamous Wilsons Hospital school for a while. She was going to elaborate on her time there, where apparently the school insisted on calling her Elizabeth rather than an African name like Tolü. Which is kinda weird given the current goings on over names. But anyway Ballsy shouted her down and switched the subject. Got to the stage that he's a pathetic parody of his old moniker.

Useless. Herself and Christina Finn - mediocrity personified.

I'm baffled that Finn keeps getting asked back given how bad she is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,410 ✭✭✭plodder

I heard that. I've forgotten the exact phrase she used to describe the school, but it set the legal alarms ringing in BOC's head.

The other bizarre moment from yesterday's program was the doctor describing the health effects of the clock-change. Okay, some people have strong opinions on the question, but that was completely over the top. No surprise the 'snowflake' reactions from some listeners.

You could look at it this way, most of us are too busy to sit and look at the sunset so we sublet the job out to MH and then he comes on the radio and makes us realise that we can do it for ourselves.

It's not that bad a deal.

    'Student & Gen Z commentator'

    C'mere, I kid you not.

The issue is never the issue; the issue is always the revolution.

The Entryism process: 1) Demand access; 2) Demand accommodation; 3) Demand a seat at the table; 4) Demand to run the table; 5) Demand to run the institution; 6) Run the institution to produce more activists and policy until they run it into the ground.

Her name sounds like a p1ss take before we even get into her opinions on things

Who is the economist on the BOC show this morning?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,392 ✭✭✭✭Furze99

Was that the gobdaw called Peter something, probably on €150K a year and lecturing the productive sector on price gouging. What did he say at one stage - that everybody was price gouging. Very fond of his own opinions he was.

Brendan in full on begorrah mode today with the Biden visit. It’s bordering on an SNL skit at this stage.

Kate O’Connell on again. She’s on RTÉ more than Tubs and Duffy at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

As per normal RTÉ Radio programming some mandatory Trump-bashing already. I’m no Trump supporter but RTÉ have zero impartiality as regards the man’s political life.

It's cliche central here... "punching above our weight" Irish people "highly educated"... One things for sure Bidens ass'll be spotless when our crew are finished with him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Text in from a listener saying Irish Americans vote Republican too, and identify with Trump and the right…….greeted with absolute silence.

    That number will be blocked.

Kate O’Connell now blaming successive Governments for the housing crisis. If only she had been a part of Government at some stage……🤷‍♂️

Kate getting her usual dig in at Leo. Brendan immediately **** himself, throws in a disclaimer and runs for an impromptu ad break.

Why have her on? You know she’s going to do it……so either let her on knowing she’ll do it, or don’t have her on at all.

Could have just said that you get arseholes everywhere, can’t be helped.

Have to say, I’m impressed Brendan is on. Would have thought he’d be a “major holidays” off guy.

Ya that would be a grand way to treat a listener who might have strayed a bit from the democrat love-in.. Part of the problem with the world these days

Who that pretentious tool on with Ballsy now?

O'Connor's nasal Cork accent is almost as off putting as his teenagery uplift in everything he says.

Why does he talk like an American teenager?

20 minutes out of that tax defaulters publication issue! Honestly how many people care about this.

seriously though - Why has he been on repeatedly over the last year?

he lives for the attention and a chance to air his pig ignorant “views”

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,933 ✭✭✭tesla_newbie

Actually haven’t heard from him in a long time

  • Registered Users Posts: 568 ✭✭✭72sheep

Eamonn McCann is very rightly proud of pushing Raytheon out of Derry. Look them up and see what that company does. Then watch FFG and IT encourage an open, honest, practical and - oh yes - "Modern" reconsideration of Ireland's neutrality.

(btw: I hope tax payer's money is not paying for that shoehorned in Seinfeld clip.)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

O'Connor sh*tting himself big time there when a panelist mentioned an article by Jody Corcoran who discussed similarities between Gerry Hutch and Robert Watt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Brenda Power saying "there isn't a jury in the land who wouldn't convict Gerry Hutch". What planet is she on? There wasn't a jury who would convict him based on the case presented and the witnesses involved, the inadmissable evidence that was allowed, etc. It was the main reason they tried to prosecute him in the SCC.

Completely unchallenged by O'Connor of course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,251 ✭✭✭Mav11

Why does anyone come onto this show as a panellist. Constant interruptions and warnings from ballsy!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Many of them like the sound of their own voice. Many just want the publicity. Some like both.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,800 ✭✭✭ShamNNspace

One of them patronisingly speaking of a disconnect between those in Hutches area of influence and the world outside that... There mus'nt be any mirrors in that studio

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,041 ✭✭✭✭EmmetSpiceland

Great interview with Eamonn McCann on yesterday’s show. An impressive guy all round, could listen to him for hours.

Only caught bits of today’s “offering”, found the interruptions, and clarifications, for RTÉ’s almighty balance annoying.

Eamonn is one of Irelands great politicians of his generation. Didn't always agree with some of his politics, especially the latter part of his career, but always true and honest. A main player in the civil rights movement, and a really intelligent guy.

Had a great chat to him at a local music festival last summer. His health is failing him unfortunately.

You really would think that someone would've told him - 'Don't worry Brendan, if we get sued, the disgusting peasants pick up the tab'

For a guy that gets paid the equivalent of an annual salary of €3.1m, you'd think he'd have worked that one out for himself

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

It was bizarre. She wasn’t even saying it out of nowhere, she was quoting from a feature in the paper!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,019 ✭✭✭Gen.Zhukov

I think I'll just let this hang there - BOC on the equivalent of €3.1 million per year

ya, ya, c'mere, listen - I'm totally worth it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

how are you calculating that? Genuinely curious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,019 ✭✭✭Gen.Zhukov

250k pa (published fig) for 4 hrs pw for c.40 weeks pa is approx 1,500 per hour (it's closer to 1,550 ph*)

    1,500 ph x 40 hrs = €60k pw - 60k x 52 weeks = €3,120,000

I think that would make him the highest paid presenter in RTE on a per hour rate. Of course Noel would take about €50k of that every year for 'services rendered'

    In reality, @ €1,550 per hour* x 40 hrs pw = €62k pw x 52 weeks = €3,224,000 pa

When I did Joseph Duffy’s fee calculations he was on just over €2,000 per hour. This was based on fees over a 2 year period divided by actual number of shows presented. So Duffy would be on more. Frightening.

I’m open to correction on this but I don’t think BO’C is represented by NKM.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,019 ✭✭✭Gen.Zhukov

You might well be right re Duffy - I found it difficult to gauge his profane hourly fees due to the extra TV stuff he does - RTE should be required to publish the hours worked

I can't prove definitively that NK is BOC's agent, but I'd put the house on it - The very fact that someone as annoying as Brendan gets that slot on those fees, can only mean Kelly. Brendan is also very fond of having lots of team NK people on the show - which is another giveaway imo

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,748 ✭✭✭Pelvis Parsley

Yeah, but c'mere to me-he's not on €3m like. Those figures are crazy. He's not on a flat week or anything-that said, these hoors should be clocking in and out-they shouldn't be contracting in the first place!

He's not one of Noel Kelly's bitches either, but he might as well be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,019 ✭✭✭Gen.Zhukov

ya,ya,ya, c'mere listen - I said he was on the equivalent of €3m if he were to work in a 9-5 job and I'm sticking with he is NK - we'll have to disagree on that one

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,748 ✭✭✭Pelvis Parsley

I think he's just "well got" tbh.
