I'm gonna say that, given the "friendliness" of black pockets , there'll be a "Lucky/how did that one go in, F(luke)OTC"

John Higgins is currently (for amusement purposes) the 1/5 jolly - with his one what bounced off rail ~1' from the pocket pot last night, into RH pocket ;)

Is that the ref we can hear breathing? Or JV? (I'm assuming it isn't Hendry!)

one of the pundits last night (either Angles or Fouldsy I think) reckoned this year's c'ship could go to an attacking player - based on the accommodating nature of the pockets

earlier red from Si in this break, and black after 2nd last red - into left and r/hand pockets respectively - mayn't have dropped on another day , moreso the earlier red

Si Jiahui has serious talent. How is he finding this form in the WC when many wouldnt have even heard of him before this tournament? He look unbeatable at times, even with a questionable safety game

Sure I saw Alex Higgins play it was pantomime snooker.

The yahoo’s in the crowd getting involved. If he was THAT good he surely would have won more. Plus factor in there was no depth of player pool like there is now. To me a lot of the stuff around Alex Higgins was noise. Davis - always had better of him. Higgins win in 82 and the one v Hendry in the Irish masters were only remarkable because they were so rare for Higgins to actually get the head down and win. Plus the odd way he played and mannerisms all added to the hype. If you call Higgins talented it was a wasted one IMO.

If for example Brecel didn’t look like a cool customer. Was fiery looked for rows etc. Suddenly the hype machine would grow around him. And all the yahoo’s would be supporting him in the crowd. The noise would be greater than any talent he had.

As for saying Alex Higgins would have been great if he was coached. I doubt he would have turned up, or even if he did he wouldn’t be in a condition to be coached.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

There's a look of quiet steely intent about Si.

    Either that, or blind innocence/naivete!

    Yeah. He looks nerveless.

He was woeful at times against McGill though. I wonder if he can keep this up.

Murphy😁 called it early in the championship

SI just has qualities you can't teach

    Matchplay and temperament

McManus has the cravat on to impress what’s her name in the studio.

Of course Higgins beat Davis in the final of the UK

Memorable quote " I was looking for a chink in his armour and I found it"

Body language around the table fantastic from Si. Luca sloppy/careless feel like shaking him - infuriating to watch at times. The slightest tactical bit he butchers.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

SI looks like he has a 147 in the locker

Was that Si miss in the 6th frame Hendry’s fault or Si’s?

Crucial 6th frame win from Brecel.

SI is stepping it up a little every match. He's that good

Not fully tested till he meets Allen or Selby

How many goes had Si had at this brown? Is it sixd at this stage? I wonder what the world record is...

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,981 ✭✭✭boccy23

    Could be here a while.....

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,393 ✭✭✭AllForIt

Virgo said Si didn't hit the brown full in the face but of course the right shot was to snick the brown and leave the cue ball tight in behind the green.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,708 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Si giving Luca 36 in fouls in 7th frame very dramatic. And Luca actually wins a safety exchange.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

seems to be some kind of force field keeping this second last red out of the pockets...

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,981 ✭✭✭boccy23

Or poor play. That pink from Luca, sheeesh!!

For those who have not seen Brecel v Si - 1st session worth watching back - great entertainment.
