Ireland's Eurovision entry Wild Youth, and rté have fired a man working on their Eurovision show, because he called a man who is a convicted rapist, and tied up and stabbed a woman, a man, and not a woman.

Imagine losing your job because you wouldn't call a rapist man a woman.

Who said it was one flag and sign?

I do appreciate your commitment to defending the indefensible though, it just proves the central argument of this thread nicely.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,825 ✭✭✭RobbieTheRobber

Indeed but you're not the poster I replied to are you?

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,246 ✭✭✭✭Dyr

It's also an opinion which Rishi Sunak and Nicola Sturgeon would share. However, for an ordinary person to express it requires the willingness to risk their livelihood. One of the other dangers coming from the left.

Do you think this should have been on Rte news?

Simple yes or no will do.

You can buy Lenin pins in antique stores and vintage shops.

    Also on adverts/done deal.

    Do these shops/sellers support Lenin?

What about images of Che Guevara?

    Should that make the news?

Yes it should, as should the display of any symbols of murderous dictators and their regimes. Let us remind ourselves that RTE and the Irish media had a conniption over Confederate flags being waved at Cork matches, yet the waving the flags of evil Communist regimes passes without comment.

I note that you're trying to defend these extremists while being very bashful about appearing to endorse them, so lets see you answer a similar question: Do you endorse the display of extremist symbols from genocidal regimes?

Bizarre take, seeing as the left have boycotted and got things removed in the past using this exact argument, that being that selling something is endorsing something. As usual though, there's no principle, you make whatever argument is needed at the time, even though you've likely argued against that position in the past.

By the way, our national postal service literally made Communist stamps, and it was all but praised by the media. Our President praised Marxist dictators without a bit of questioning for our media too. Do you really think the reactions would be the same if you replaced the Marxists in questions with Nazis/fascists?

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

In the other CA threads Clarence Thomas was being put through ringer for this

This Ireland Eurovision song is the wokiest song ever. Hopefully it gets a ‘null points’. Dustin the turkey was so much better.

Supposedly there's a scandal surrounding it too, apparently someone involved with them dared to call a man and man, and was removed from their role because of it.

"Screen grabs circulated on Twitter of Ian Banham's account referring to transgender women as men in posts.

The Irish band say they stand for "unity and kindness" and will no longer let Mr Banham "near our team".

Mr Banham's representatives have been contacted by the BBC, but they had no comment to make.

With just two weeks until this year's song contest begins, it is quite late for any artist to change their creative team as rehearsals begin in Liverpool next week.

Wild Youth frontman Conor O'Donohoe said he "felt sick" reading the tweets and apologised to those hurt by those remarks."

The "sick" tweets in question were all fairly tame too, but as usual, the left have to do their dramatic dance, and toss out many negative adjectives in the name of keeping their credentials. There's literally not a lick of sense left on the left anyone, all you get is nothing but blind support for their causes, and anything that can even be viewed as any form of dissent with be meet with full condemnation from all quarters.

We're really at the stage where misgendering a rapist is viewed as being worse than the rape itself, yet we're the mad ones?

The video to the song is so stupid also. Wearing silver masks looking like the watchmen, then at very end he pulls it up as the camera also slides up, thus revealing nothing but with the message that ‘you can be whoever u wanna be’. It’s so try hard ticking liberal boxes it’s actually a backwards step for self expressionism.

This Eurovision song is a total rip of one republic song ‘ I lived’. It’s a bad version rip off of a good song with a super extra wokey theme.

This and various other things like taking contributions from this guy via fancy trips and real estate shenanigans. Note that it's not Thomas collecting these things, it's his buddy Crow.

You're o.k. with the longest sitting Justice of the SCOTUS taking gifts from a guy with an autographed copy of Mein Kampf? And Hitler's table napkins?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,825 ✭✭✭RobbieTheRobber

Hey come on collecting nazi memorabilia and displaying it proudly in your house is totally normal behaviour. Who wouldn't want a painting by hitler and his table napkins to show all their friends.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,464 ✭✭✭✭Igotadose

Yah, nothing to see here. Nasty lefties pointing this out about a major GOP donor who is funding a 'steal votes from Biden through phony candidates' PAC and has a 20+ year relationship with the biggest rubber-stamper in the history of the SCOTUS.

The man has numerous art peices of evil dictators, the vast majority of whom are Communists, so the danger is coming from the left in his case according to whatever is passing for logic with this accusation

He also has documents written by General Lee, so he is presumably in favour of slavery

Tiresome stuff, but I suppose any chaff will be thrown out

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,464 ✭✭✭✭Igotadose

What's tiresome is your 'communists are under the bed stealing the wife's jam rhetoric.' The statues aren't the problem - they're statues.

Harlan Crow is the problem, and by no stretch of even your imagination is he anywhere close to 'the left.'

If George Soros hosted Ketanji Brown Jackson at his house where they reviewed the writings of Stokely Carmichael, the right in the US would be burning down the place.

So you disagree with the poster whoi was complaining about his art collection?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,464 ✭✭✭✭Igotadose

So, you agree Harlan Crow is the problem? Because he's a danger coming from the right. Just asking questions, after all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,246 ✭✭✭✭Dyr

I asked a cogent question, given your post contradicting another poster, no idea why you responded with a non sequitor rather than just answering it.

    Odd. Evasive, even.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,464 ✭✭✭✭Igotadose

I find nothing to disagree with Robbie's post above, if that's the one your referring to. He was being sarcastic in tone, but I think he's serious - Harlan Crow having Nazi memorabilia is concerning. Harlan Crow's outsize, well let's just say interactions, with a sitting SCOTUS judge is very concerning.

So, do you think Harlan Crow collecting Nazi memorabilia is concerning?

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,246 ✭✭✭✭Dyr

You've already had the Nazi memorabiliia nonsense thoroughly demolished by facts but fair play for sticking with it anyway

And now apparently, his "interactions" with a judge (you seem to reluctant to specify what interactions these are) are the issue.

We can cut to the chase here, has this Judge broken any rules of the Supreme Court through these "interactions"?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,825 ✭✭✭RobbieTheRobber

Oh the broken no laws defense I wonder how that's going down in the Paul Murphy thread.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,246 ✭✭✭✭Dyr

Have I posted in the Paul Murphy, thread? Perhaps if you could focus on the matter at hand.

So now that it is established that your Nazi memorabilia pearl clutching is disingenous nonsense we also find out that this Judge has not actually done anything that a judge should not do, we can perhaps move on from another attempt to drag a thread off topic.

I see that intellectual power house of the Labour party, Diane Abbott is in a spot of bother over her claims that the Jews never had it as bad as the blacks.

Perhaps she forgot that Labour was no longer run by her former squeeze, Corbyn and his merry band of Communists, and that the curent leader does not tolerate extremist left wing views about Jewish people.

The really interesting thing though, is that Diane Abbott had previously enthused about all the good that the most genocidal dictator on the planet, Mao, did for China and she remained in the Labour party. As always, we have a blind spot for dangerous extremism so long as its on the left.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,825 ✭✭✭RobbieTheRobber

What are you talking about established.

Having Nazi memorabilia is strange, displaying it prominently is strange. When did we establish anything else but that?

For a person who began their post with "if you could focus on the matter at hand" your post sure did seem to a take meander after your disingenuous established claim!

Now where did I leave the goalpost gif again.

    🤣

what “demolishing facts” are you babbling about

In addition to the statues, Crow has a signed copy of Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf”

The SCOTUS has no rules 🤣
