Allen give away foul points earlier, but barring that he's winning safety exchange 10-09, on points#

    spoke too soon?

i think so - Selby big fav now on remaining four colours

    far from a cert tho

An hour and 40 minutes of play and we've just finished the second frame.

    Huge frame for Selby

I think Mark Allen possibly missed a trick earlier, he could have played the green down along the left cushion for the pot and if it hit the black he could have knocked it safe again. And if it went in or missed he had the chance of cover or pot on the brown, plus possible cover from pink and blue, and maybe black if it the green stays in the jaws. Yes it was a difficult pot, but it could have worked out for him. What he played didn't amount to much.

This game has two sessions tomorrow, morning and evening.

If it goes 17-14 or suchlike to the winner, then an after-midnight finish looks more likely than not, which is to the advantage of Si (or Brecel).

Fingal County Council are certainly not competent to be making decisions about the most important piece of infrastructure on the island. They need to stick to badly designed cycle lanes and deciding on whether Mrs Murphy can have her kitchen extension.

still needs tricky looking red beside yella

    not home&hosed yet is Selbs

    hope for us Allen fans

Fair play to Selby back from the dead.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

My God you cannot but admire Selby. Over the years I've gone from hatred to apathy to grudging admiration to hero worship. You can have all the ability and flare in the world but he strips the game back to raw survival and out endures almost everyone. If Allen wins this he'll be half of himself v Si, he'll have to leave so much of himself behind to win.

give it 17% chance of rerack

was just thinking of this, and then it's decided straight away !!

Have to feel that nine frame was massive. Allen was strong favourite to go 7-3 up and now its 6-5.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

hope Allen can forget about frame nine during mid-session interval; regardless of who wins this last one

The only thing worse than watching Mark Selby win a snooker match is listening to people praise him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,494 ✭✭✭ArnoldJRimmer

There are many aspects to Selby's game which he is deservedly praised for, but this narrative that playing so slow that polar ice caps melt between shots is some sort of tactical genius is tedious. Its awful to watch

I don’t admire him at all. I can’t even watch him play anymore.

I respect him, but that’s not entertaining

    they/them/theirs

And so on, and so on …. - Slavoj Žižek

SI will get chances and takes them (assuming he gets through)

I wouldn't write him off by any means

Selby is some player but any close match turns into him sickening the head off his opponent until they give up. May as well be watching Touch The Truck.

If Selby wins the title it won’t grow the game. Si would get loads of new interest. I don’t think the younger generations have the patience to fully appreciate Selby.

What Selby does is an art form but it needs full concentration to watch him and appreciate it. In today’s world with everything instant/quick I can’t see Selby getting new people interested in the game.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

    Match needs a shot clock

I wouldn't mind so much if the standard of play was very high

I was watching back a recording of this afternoon's session - it was so slow and boring I fell asleep for an hour - and woke up and it was still only the second frame 😳

I like the tactical stuff, but this is going off the scale!!

Gave up on it and came on here to see a summary of what happened (or didn't!)

Do we think the balance has shifted?

I'm gutted to be missing the final session of the other match tonight.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,606 ✭✭✭ultrapercy

Very true but all Selby cares about is winning and I wouldn't bet against him breaking Hendry's record of 7 titles. If Selby wins this match he'll beat Si with a session to spare but the match won't finish until Wednesday. What slows Selbys match down is the predicaments he puts his opponents in more than slow play.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,957 ✭✭✭kirk.

They're taking forever to play bang average snooker

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Selby is getting a right run of good luck at the moment, while Allen isn't.

And just as I posted that, he's got even more.

Allen deserved to get a bit of luck in return there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,957 ✭✭✭kirk.

You reckon he'll beat SI with a session to spare ?

Where are you getting that theory from

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

three frames to go this sesh

after 5.30 - think that's cutoff point for playing another

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,399 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

Tonight is just session 3 of 4 in that game, though in theory it could be over tonight. Or 12 v 12.

This is so poor from Allen.
