Ryan Tubridy to step down from Late Late role when season ends

He's actually good, smart and entertaining for a start. He's also not an RTÉ employee so that instantly rules him out.

It's good for tubridy though that RTE are getting it hard to replace him , it will give him a bit of a jolt for his last few shows. A lot of RTE insiders that caused the bookies to close their books on Claire Byrne must be down money if they backed her big a month ago. Looks like the punters are still wrong putting Sarah mcinerney as favourite now.

As for Claire Byrne she is lucky she saw the writing on the wall early, it would have been disastrous move for her. I agree with other posters it's not necessarily the presenter that's really at fault for the slow death of LLS but RTE and the backroom people

Should have offered it to Donald Trump when he was in Doonbeg , now wouldn't that draw an audience 😉😉

The fact that there hasn't been an obvious successor or successors to Tubridy is indicative of the dearth of talent and presentation skills in RTE.

And some of the names suggested over the past few weeks have been beyond ridiculous.

That's why it won't be a woman, when RTE framed it in that context they made a big mistake. The fact that Claire Byrne crashed out means there is no obvious female candidate now, they will be reversing back out of that rabbit hole fast.

Be interesting to see whether they will have BOC , daithi or someone else on the LLS before tubridy finishes in a few weeks

I really don't like Anton Savage. I can't understand how his name has popped up here so many times. I think he's terrible, boring and obnoxious. He has that kind of smug face that I can't stand.
