Not as impactful as last year offensively but always a menace on defense, beaming he made this and I'd say well deserved but i admit I'm completely biased :)

I remember from his time on the Lakers that he is great at getting around screens and for his size, very tough as well. Excellent player to complement Superstar players as well...

I'm actually (pleasantly) surprised he got all All-Defensive First Team.

I thought the Bulls being so brutal would have gone against him but he was one of the very few bright spots. Class defender. I'm surprised some of the contending teams didn't make a bigger push for him before the trade deadline.

I'm having a great day I must say.

I was told I had b cell lymphoma yesterday and seen a haematologist today who specialises in cancer.

I gave bloods in the morning and seen her in the afternoon and she told me my bloods look great. She says there is a real possibility I don't have lymphoma. I have a few tests to do but from the outset until yesterday I was quite confident I didn't have it. My life was flashing before me while waiting to meet the haematologist. I was thinking of all the things I have to do if I'm told that the bloods suggested it was an aggressive strain.

Anyway I've more tests to do and another biopsy but my lymph nodes are back to normal and the blood results were awesome so I'm hopeful I'll get cleared now.

Had to get that out of my system.😁

So I'm really nervous about tonight. Need big performances from basically everybody because you gotta score big against these sixers. Embiid is getting better by the game and the bearded one is looking like he did six or seven years ago.

I think you'll see close to, if not well above, 240 points tonight and I'm hoping the Celtics are on the right side of that.

So Tatum, Brown, Brogdon, Smart and White need to be on their game tonight. It's impossible to play consistent defense against either of those teams.

I want the Celtics to win it all this year but I'm not as desperate that it happens as I was because I'm pretty hopeful now that this won't be the last one I'll get to see. 😁

Great to hear that man, hope you will get the full all clear 🙏 and a Celtics win tonight as well 😊

Yeah fingers crossed all is good EE, if nothing else you’re in on the ground floor with it. Best of luck.

I think Philly will put forth a very minimal effort tonight. Their best shot is to hold home court in game 6 and get to a game 7 Sunday afternoon where anything can happen.

Best of luck Eagle! Let's go Bawston!

I didn’t watch much of him either. In terms of stats, he seems a worthy candidate. This appears to have been his best year defensively, as measured by defensive win share and defensive box plus / minus. He was well placed in relevant categories:

    Steal Percentage: 1st in league

Defensive Box Plus / Minus: 2nd

    Defensive Rating: 8th

It would be very difficult to attain these types of stats without being a massive contributor on defense. Getting voted in just means his respect amongst players / coaches is there too, and aligns with the impressive statistical output,

His basketball IQ is very high, he has great defensive timing...I really thought the Bucks would go for him instead of Crowder especially as they barely used Crowder at all in the playoffs....

Embiid is man to man on Tatum again and he's winning the battle. He's 0-4 three quarters of the way through the first quarter.

Great news, Eagle Eye, delighted to hear that.

However...I fancy your boys tonight and going by my record in the playoffs...

Man harden is hitting fire in this series last 2 games. Phillies look capable of winning this series.

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,290 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

This is real bad, need a huge fourth quarter.

Smart, White and Brogdon have only 22 points between them. That's a huge part of the problem tonight.

Most importantly congrats to eagle eye, great stuff, should give us all perspective on what really matters…. And now to get over the top excited about basketball..lol

Celtics in big trouble, Harden to his credit has done a great job this season, as frustrating as he can be, he has been very solid.

I think my team are done, very frustrating to lose to the Lakers but Warriors have been out of sorts, something is off with them

I really hope Denver win it all, love Jokic, he deserves a unreal, as dumb as it sounds seems like there is some reverse racism with him, the man is a stud, such a baller

Congrats on your positive health outcomes, genuinely pleased for you. Everything else is secondary.

As a Celtics fan I am gutted.

Sorry buddy, it should of been your year, it still might be to be fair, these are tests that champions need to go through, I’ve had my doubts of Tatum as being that guy that can lead you to a championship, he obviously got close and not unimaginable with the right coach and players, the team went through a lot last year with a lot of drama so we might be overly optimistic that they would go all the way.

I know it’s an overly simplistic question to ask what’s wrong with The Celtics as every team is constantly changing for the better or worse, we like to think teams just fail because of problems and forget to appreciate the teams that come out on top, very fine margins in sports.

This is Mazzulla's first playoff run as a head coach. He's made mistakes, it's to be expected. I think he's a great coach and I'm not suggesting for one second that he gets fired. I'm just saying he's a rookie head coach in the playoffs.

Not taking timeouts late in games is a mistake and he's admitted that. We are playing a type of read and react defense which obviously doesn't work against Philly because you've got two experts at drawing fouls in Harden and Embiid. That's on the coach to fix.

This is all a learning experience for Mazzulla and I'm quite confident he'll learn quickly from it. He clearly has a great relationship with the players and I'd expect us to be even better next year.

I'm not ruling us out of this year, just gotta go and win in Philly.

As I've said, for me the biggest issue is defense. Keep your hands up and your feet down, don't fall for the fake. I don't know how many times Embiid and Harden got fouled last night but both of them have really high FT success rates and that makes those fouls stupid. Again that's on the coach to fix.

    Predictions for tonight

New York to get one back against Miami but Miami will finish off the series at home in game 6

All logic points to a Warriors win tonight but the likes of Poole and Wiggins haven't played well at all I wouldn't be surprised if it's extremely close or the Lakers steal it tonight

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,976 ✭✭✭Carcharodon

Good game right now, Warriors throwing everything they got right now but Lakers still there with them, could go down to the wire, really want to win and get that chance in LA to tie it up, go out on their shield. Wiggins is playing well, Klay needs to get in the game, he has a way off

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,691 ✭✭✭Corvo

Hopefully AD isn’t too badly concussed

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,976 ✭✭✭Carcharodon

Great win, Curry was off all evening until the end, Wiggins was great as was Draymond, Klay was very poor, he had nothing. Felt like the Lakers flopped more than usual, Davis was in a wheelchair at one point…lol, joking but it didn’t look bad at all (obviously I don’t know)

Happy to get another game, I know we can beat them if everyone plays good, just been way too inconsistent across the board.

  • Registered Users Posts: 36,316 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

AD concussion, series over. The old Golden State run good alive and well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,976 ✭✭✭Carcharodon

Is that officially confirmed ? Warriors were well on their way to winning when he was in but obviously if he is out then it puts a totally different perspective on the series, Lakers have been pretty impressive for the most part, Warriors are a bit all over the place, I can see a lot of things coming out after this season, something is off.

i wrote a long reply to this the other day but it wouldn’t post, I’ll try again later today.

I watched the Kicks v Heat game last night. A cracking game. Butler was covered by at least two defenders all night. He was aggressive for quite a while but then he started moving the ball around rather than take on the impossible shot. He ended up with 9 assists to go with his 19 points, roughly half those points came at the free throw line.

The Knicks led by double digits for most of the night until the Heat started turning the screw in the fourth. They got the lead down to two at one stage but Brunson was incredible all night. Mitchell Robinson was brilliant defensively and the deciding factor in the game was when the Heats tactic of fouling Robinson went against them. I think he missed his first four free throws but then buried four in a row.

ESPNs and former Warriors coach Mark Jackson left Jokic off his top 5 MVP with his vote

Jackson’s top five were in order

    1.Embiid,

    2. Antetokounmpo

    3. Jayson Tatum,

    4. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

    5. Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell

    Unbelievable :O
