If I were CNN I'd cancel this townhall this evening but they probably won't.

If he does turn up at the CNN Town-hall this evening the 1st question should be.

"Now that you've been found liable for Sexual Assault in a Court of Law do you plan to step down from the race?"

    Followed by

"How can you expect people to vote for you now that you've been found liable for Sexual Assault?"

    And

"Why should any woman in the country vote for someone who has been proven in a court of law to have no respect for them and believes that he should be allowed to touch them because he's famous?"

The problem there is that it's Kaitlin Collins moderating. There is no way she is going to be able to reign him in.

If somehow she does and she goes completely against form (she does not come across as confrontational) she will really make a name for herself and could elevate herself (I give it about a 1.5% chance of happening)

Speaks a lot to Trump's character, that following his hush money payments to the pornstar he slept with when his wife was pregnant, and now being found liable for sexual assault (not to mention his comments in the deposition about rape and his "grab them by the pussy" comments), his current wife's support for his Presidential campaign constitutes a 'KEY ENDORSEMENT' worthy of an announcement/statement.

    Can also be read as

"Now that we have updated our settlement agreement and I have secured even more money for myself and my son, I am happy to tell people what he wants them to hear."

Ah yes, the adoring wife of the alpha male. Into him for as much as she can get.

Will the GOP kick him out for this or will they continue to pretend like it's not happening?

Given the precarious majority they hold on the house, and the fact that the Democratic governor may replace Santos with a Democrat, I doubt he'll be shifted

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 15,454 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

I was just reading up on what happens if a congress member leaves or is kicked out.

The State Governor can't name a replacement unlike in the case of a Senator.

Either they call a special election or the seat just remains vacant until the next election.

Not sure who gets to decide if the special election gets called or not though, all it said was that a special election would not be called if there was less than 6 months left before the full election.

He won't be replaced per above, the DOJ could simply arrest him, giving McCarthy an out. If he's kickedout of Congress, McCarthy has one fewer vote, but the Democratic Party don't gain a vote.

Slate's published a lengthy, very detailed piece about the range of dubious behaviors wrt campaign finance and personal finances that Santos has gotten up to. Independent of him being first man on the moon/Nobel prize winner/brain surgeon/whatever he claimed:

Didn't follow this case as I don't suffer from TDS and it's a civil case against a billionaire, which aren't uncommon for some strange reason.

What actually was the act that Trump (wasn't criminally prosecuted for) is said to have ocurred that led to the verdict?

What did the court find, as fact, that occurred?

That he sexually assaulted a woman in a department store changing room and that that assault included him inserting "something" inside the woman but because she could not clearly say whether it was his finger/fingers or his penis that he used , the technical charge of rape couldn't be applied because of how rape is legally defined under New York law.

Bottom line , the jury found that he is a scum-bag that forces himself on women sexually.

Important to point out that the reason she couldn't clearly say whether it was his fingers or his penis is that Donald Trump's penis is very small.

Love this usual comment about TDS when its Trump himself constantly putting himself in the news with his constant statements and attacks, not to mention he does plan to run again. I'd say most people would prefer if he'd just go away and we could all ignore him.

In the time it took you to post that pretending not to know the details a 10 second google would have done the trick

    Nice victim blaming there.

Plus also nice imagination. No need for you imagine. He has been found liable by a jury in a court of law

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 15,454 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

Ah , the old - "She was asking for it" defence.

How she got there , whether she might or might not have been flirting with him beforehand is completely, totally and utterly irrelevant.

He SEXUALLY ASSAULTED HER , End of story.

Any attempt to place any blame whatsoever on the woman in this scenario is truly disgusting and as I said earlier the thread , posts like this from you help explain your ability to continue to "support" Trump despite us telling us all the time how you aren't really a fan.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,911 ✭✭✭Tippex

so your go-to is to victim blame and not to question why was he in a changing room with her? he has been found liable for sexual assault (only because in NY Rape is defined as inserting a P*nis)

Why am I not surprised this is the route you are taking.

Are they actually doing the TDS and victim blaming things again?

Trumpsterism is a heck of a drug.

We sat again for an hour and a half discussing maps and figures and always getting back to that most damnable creation of the perverted ingenuity of man - the County of Tyrone.

She left the court looking like the cat who got the cream. Smiling from ear to ear despite her rape claim being thrown out. Why? Payout. 5Mill.

The system is currupt. Carrol has a dress with dna on it the day trump supposedly raped her. Trump wanted a dna test on the dress and was rejected. Pathetic. Anybody who thinks this case and outcome has been fair and just hasn't an ounce of honestly.

Still going out to bat for a guy you apparently don't support, huh?

Dealing with your razor sharp legal questions/points

    1) Why was she going into a changing room with a man she barely knew, what was the point of even going into the changing room if she said she wouldnt try the lingerie on ?

If you had listened to her testimony, or any interview, she explained that her idea was to get him to put it on - they were both joking about it but she had said multiple times she would absolutely not be putting it on.

    2) Where was Trumps pants in all of this ?

On his legs? what's your point?

    3) How come nobody heard a commotion ?

there was no one else around. She also said she did not scream.

    4) It all seems a bit odd.

The jury heard a lot more than you did, you didn't even bother to check out what she has consistently said, but you go right ahead and reach the conclusion that you want.

    5) I guess she was flirting with him and he lost the plot.

Listen up to this 'cause it's kind of important - that doesn't mean he is allowed to force himself on a woman. Unless of course, you, like Trump believe you can, when you're famous.

how dare a victim of sexual assault get some justice and feel vindicated from a court?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 38,514 CMod ✭✭✭✭ancapailldorcha

Yeah, how dare a victim be glad to see justice done. How dare women be glad to see a sexual predator be held accountable even if it is decades later.

I get the impression that the Trumpster brigade wouldn't care if he was guilty of rape. They'd say the courts are corrupt or something similar. It's utterly disgusting and pathetically transparent.

No Trump refused to provide the DNA and only has claimed he wanted to do so after the window for new evidence that had been repeatedly extended was finally closed. Basically the same lie where he says he wasn't allowed testify to defend himself and yet the judge made repeated offers for him to do so again extending the offer well past the normal deadline and he never chose to do so.

Just think, the lawyers that would have won the case were on boards the entire time. Someone call the man himself, we have his new legal team!

Go through court transcripts and find out the answers that the jury heard. Go through the actual time line of the case. This is just throwing around random stuff and expecting others to debunk each little piece of misinformation before you come out with another (I am presuming this tactic has a name by now)

  • Registered Users Posts: 55,511 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Her rape claim wasn't "thrown out." They simply could not go so far as to say he raped her.

He has been found liable for a sexual assault, and by all accounts quite a terrorizing experience for the lady. The jury believed that the woman was subjected to a forceful sexual assault. Are you saying this incident did not happen, could not have happened?

  • Registered Users Posts: 82,405 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

(I am presuming this tactic has a name by now)

    gish gallop.

“Each point raised by the Gish galloper takes considerably more time to refute or fact-check than it did to state in the first place, which is known online as Brandolini's law.[5] The technique wastes an opponent's time and may cast doubt on the opponent's debating ability for an audience unfamiliar with the technique, especially if no independent fact-checking is involved or if the audience has limited knowledge of the topics.[6]

which is specifically why many news anchors openly decline to allow trump live air time.

I never said that she was asking for it.

Ive already said multiple times on here that I dont want Trump running again for President.

He is too old, too unhinged and has way too much baggage to run again.

Im not sure how that makes me a supporter of him.
