Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Compared to some of the games in the most recent world cup like holland v argentina i think the dirtyness of this game is being overstated. Carvajal should be booked but Man city players are also overstating alot of the tackles. Theres gamesmanship on both sides

City still too slow, tipping it around the place. Real won’t mind letting them have all the possession if they don’t put it into areas that will hurt them.

What a goal that would have been

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,793 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

This is brilliant to watch. Pepe bombing out of another Champions League would be so good to watch.

    Courtois is some keeper

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Rodri is always confused when he gets fouls against him.

  • Site Banned Posts: 20,685 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

I know ref has been letting stuff go, but he played advantage for 2 rodri fouls and then finally blew for a shoulder barge by him.

That's 3 fouls in what 20 seconds. Enough for a yellow you'd think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

They are insane at it. The best last line of defence I've seen in years.

Even that tackle on Haaland from Alaba was elite.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,470 ✭✭✭FintanMcluskey

    Woeful corners from City.

Haaland telegraphed the shot in the box

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,742 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

    City's corners have been dreadful

Reminds me of Man City V Lyon in the CL a few years ago - City had so much possession, but just never pushed through, always waiting for the picture perfect opportunity instead of actually making it happen. Lyon just hung in there, hit 'em on the break, and knocked 'em out.

Pep could do with having a bit of humility and pragmatism and maybe try something simpler, like banging in a few dirty balls for Haaland to attack. The fella's a machine, set things up for him to throw his weight around a bit.

Carlo has pushed Camavinga into midfield. Big difference. Now madrid on top

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,220 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

Man city lucky not to get handball decisions against them, i dont think the ref is against them. What a goal!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,041 ✭✭✭Pipmae

Jesus that's some strike. He's unreal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Oof, that's some strike! The sound off the net was unreal even.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,044 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

    Hit.

Great last 25min on our hands.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,175 ✭✭✭Xander10

Another Great strike. A big 20 mins to come

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,390 ✭✭✭UsBus

Delighted, great strike. Madrid will go ultra shithouse now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,085 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

    What a strike.

If the ref had given Kroos his second yellow for the dive, even though City would be a man up, that goal probably wouldn't have happened.

Which one of those was lucky? None of them looked even close to a penalty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,742 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

Are we allowed to ask if Gundogan is concussed? Different player since the head injury

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,398 ✭✭✭facehugger99

Does anyone know if a manager gets a yellow card, does that count in the number of team yellows for a bookies bet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,220 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

Handball decisions seem very unpredictable these days

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    1-1 is about right.

Real need another more than City I reckon.

  • Registered Users Posts: 486 ✭✭FarmerBrowne

Madrid players waving imaginary yellow cards is really starting to get on my nerves now, eventhough its nothing new for them.

Stones is weak at this level. Too hesitant and Madrid are all over him. Can get away with that in the premier League where the English media are fawning all over him

Rodri very lucky not to be booked. Two very even teams. Hope next leg is as close.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,470 ✭✭✭FintanMcluskey

Strange that City have made no changes

    That will do perfectly

the unbiased RTE commentary is a beautiful thing to listen to

  • Site Banned Posts: 20,685 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

Had the ref given real a corner a minute earlier city wouldn't have had the shot.

Hint of handball from rodri too in the build up,albeit would've been harsh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,044 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Gotta laugh at some of the punditry on this. You'd think the fools would have learnt from last year.

At half time, with Madrid leading, BT sports pundit said, "there is a gulf in class between these teams".

At the end, on rte, Brady and Given both agree that this tie isn't over yet. Despite the presenter saying a few mins before, "we all agreed before the game that city would progress easily from this tie".

    Idiots the lot of them.

De Bruyne was having his worst ever game before he scored. I thought City played well, particularly the defence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,609 ✭✭✭IncognitoMan

City will be the better team next week - they will have more of the ball. More chances etc..

However, If Madrid hang in there early doors and the clock starts ticking for City we will se Real grow into the game. Their experience at this level is unmatched and they never seem to fear going out, they always have an extra gear for late on. Suppose when you have multiple winners medals already it takes a lot of that pressure away

Looking forward to good tactical battle tonight.

Atmosphere should be electric too in a packed San Siro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

I love complaining about City, but the narrative of 'the ball went out, so the KDB goal shouldn't have stood' is mental.

Madrid literally win the ball and string some passes together.

And when you have a top manager and not a screaming ejit.

Going to be very cagey tonight, got a draw written all over it.

But will be intriguing. And a mad atmosphere as usual.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,123 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

VEry hard to call given the up and down form of both teams. They are practically neck and neck in Serie A right now and both have had poor and encouraging results.

Probably a draw but I wouldn't be surprised if someone cracks under the pressure tonight.

Rumours breaking that Leao is not with the Milan squad on the team bus.

I'm hoping for an Inter win. Always had a gra for them.

Not the biggest blow when you can bring in someone with the quality of Saelemaekers

I agree but but Leao is a huge loss to the team and anyone who watches Milan (and doesn't have your well known bonkers interpretation of reality) can see how much more they are with Leao.

It also means they don't have a quality player on the bench now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,614 ✭✭✭The Golden Miller

Obviously it's a blow, but if your going to lose a player like Leao, you should consider yourself lucky to have such a high quality replacement like Saelemaekers to come in.

He could cause many problems Inter haven't prepared for

Looking forward to seeing Diaz in action tonight. TGM raves that much about him!

Will be interesting to see if next Wednesday Virgin spend the build up talking about Milan.

Between TV and papers you would hardly know there are 2 semi finals.
