7-6-17+S

It's commonly used on spuds.

It's not high in nitrogen so you won't get that mad growth of 10-10-20. It's a decent mix for lawns, especially in autumn. 50kg will do a couple of acres of lawn easily. 20 to 25 gm per sq metre is sufficient. The Agri store guy either doesn't use it on a lawn himself or he's pushing sales.

Add a bag of granulated lime to the lawn. Great to add to the ph of the soil as well

One bag of 7-6-17 would be loads for the average lawn in a rural area. Even half bag would work wonders. Adding p to the soil in the spring is key

The agri store and most agri merchants should have granulated lime in 50kg and 500kg bags similar to the 7-6-17.

Quickest way is spread both is to pour some into a bucket and just broadcast it on the lawn. Good long swings and make it travel. No need to mix. Just spread separate is the easiest to do. Keep it simple is the key. A 50kg bag of each would go a long way on a couple lawns.

Keep the fertiliser and lime dry if you are storing it as they break down with damp. So up off the ground and under cover, especially once the bags are opened

The granlime shouldn't be much more than €10 or €12.

Spread it on a damp day if your worried about burning the grass, and run the hose on anything that looks to be scorching in the following days. This is only if your go too hard with the quantity which is doubtful

Please read up on lime on lawns. I'd avoid doing it now. Wait until autumn, as lime takes time to have an impact and spring or summer are always advised as best avoided,

Granulated lime is ok to spread all year. Its different to ground lime and is made of the fines. Taken up by the should quicker and will give a bit of an N boost aswell

No problem putting both at the same time. This time of the year is peak growth and the soil will be thankful for a boost

How big is your lawn

Half will likely be more than enough.

It's a bit less than a half acre between both. I'd say put out the full bag of gran lime but half the 7-6-17 might be enough for now and half later maybe August/September.

You only want a nice green lawn, not necessarily to drive growth too much.

Do they not mow the lawn before it gets a chance to grow.

You could put out the whole lot (2 bags to the acre) or more in that case. You wouldn't be worried about trying to keep it cut.
